EXPRESSING REVERENCE IN OUR CELEBRATION OF THE EUCHARIST
BEING ON TIME & STAYING TO THE END Our time for arrival for Mass and when we leave is an expression of our reverence. If Mass has simply become a routine or an obligation to be fulfilled, we will give it only the minimum amount of time we thing is REQUIRED. If we truly have a reverence and a respect for the Eucharist and we are truly grateful to God, we will arrive on time --- perhaps even a little early --- and will remain there until the Mass is ended at the conclusion of the closing song. Arriving just in time to hear the reading of the Gospel and leaving immediately after communion is like telling God we do not have but a minimum of time for Him! In our attendance at Mass do we really give God the appropriate amount of time to truly worship Him or have we simply given Him "just enough" to fulfill the obligation? DRESSING FOR MASS What we wear can be an indication of our attitude toward something. The clothes that we choose to wear to church can reveal our respect-level for what is happening there. God deserves our BEST and when we worship Him we want to present ourselves to Him in an appropriate way that truly represents our reverence. Too casual a form of dress or even an unkempt look reveals that the Mass is not a special occasion but possibly something we just have to do. It has become a routine. It has been argued that God does not really care about what we wear and maybe this is true. But worship is the reverence WE give to HIM. Do we wear clothes that reveal our reverence and desire to give the Lord our best? Just something to think about!

Celebrating Sunday for Catholic Families
Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Gospel: Mark 4:26-34
On the Way to Mass: Can just one person, even those as young as you, make a difference? How? On the Way Home From Mass: What does the growth of the mustard seed tell us about what we, and the Church, need to do to help grow the Kingdom of God? Living the Word: Find a mustard seed to show your children what Jesus was referring to in today’s Gospel. (Or go online to find a picture.) Ask your family why Jesus would have used this seed as an example to teach about the potential each of us has in God’s Kingdom. What small things can each of us do that will have a big impact on someone else?

ParentTalk It has become challenging to get help around the house. I agree that chores are boring, but our home will only work well when we pull together. I decided to implement some new rules. First, each bed has to be made, clothes in the hamper, and bedrooms tidied before a screen gets turned on. This way, children learn that responsibilities have to be met before enjoying free time. Next, I assigned each child a set of household chores and a timeframe in which it has to completed. If someone beats that time, the minutes saved will be added to their screen time. Finally, each person will take a turn as Inspector Clutter. The Inspector roams the home looking for stray possessions and “jails” them in a basket. To bail them out, the owner must perform an extra chore. Motivation and humor have to be more effective than nagging! Why do Catholic do that? Why do Catholics have hope? “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13). Hope is a theological virtue that comes from God and inspires us to await eternal life. It inspires us to place our trust in Christ's promises. This virtue teaches us to rely on the help of the Holy Spirit to merit salvation and to persevere to the end of our earthly life.
