LED Lighting – This is generally perceived to be focused on internal building lighting only, however there has be a huge increase in the use of outdoor security and flood lighting.

Within many hospitals building the lighting is generally fluorescent tube / sodium or metal halide high bays.

A LED lighting scheme in conjunction with some on-site generation and controls is a great partnership for savings.

Infra Red Heating represent a great opportunity for Hotels to benefit from one the most efficient ways to heat a space. Infra Red heating is a least 50% more efficient than conventional heating systems. Infrared heat works exactly like the world’s largest natural heater - the sun(but with no UV).

Using the principle of conversion, IR panels use far infrared waves, which produce heat when they touch a surface such as a wall, an object, or our bodies, rather than heating the surrounding air. Once an object begins to heat up, it radiates heat back into the room so the heat is felt almost immediately. Far infrared heating is far more efficient than traditional convection heating which causes hot air to rise and then as it cools it drops, resulting in warm and cold areas in a room

Food Waste &Vessel Composting

Food waste process for energy is another great innovation that can be utilised in hotels. Ideally foods rich is oils can be dried and the oils extracted for use in CHP as a bio-fuel. We have my options for this kind of technology.This is possibly aimed more at very large facilities. Alternatively, de-watering units to remove the organic waste from a macerator (leaving only waste water to drain) are very effective.

The dried food can also be utilised as a fuel source for biomass units. These systems reduce the food waste by 90% by drying it into an odourless inert powder. The resultant product additionally has the financial benefit of a calorific value higher than wood chip as a Biomass fuel or value as compost.Money saved: 80-90% savings on waste disposal costs from day one and value as a fuel or compost.
