Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts offer an intimate retreat experience featuring its signature blend of romance, rejuvenation and exotic sensuality. The brand takes its name from the tropical banyan tree, known for its strong and graceful image. For centuries, the banyan tree has been a symbol of sanctuary under which one finds peace of mind and internal harmony - the same elements upon which Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts has flourished. Furthermore, the tree shares the same Asian roots as the Banyan Tree Group, which is steeped in Asian traditions and environmental consciousness.

Its philosophy is based on providing a place for rejuvenation of the body, mind and soul-a Sanctuary for the Senses. Placing special emphasis on proving guests with a sense of place, each Banyan Tree property is designed to fit into its natural surroundings, using indigenous materials as far as possible and reflecting the landscape and architecture of the destination. Architrave Design and Planning, the design arm of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, is responsible for the architecture and design of all Banyan Tree properties. Architrave imbues each and every Banyan Tree with a unique sense of place, incorporating traditional elements of the destination with contemporary modern-day comforts.

With the coming of the Asian Renaissance, Banyan Tree is seen as an intellectual leader, a pioneer of intimate retreats with an Asian flavour. Every Banyan Tree is distinct – in the way it adapts itself to the local environment and architectural heritage. As a social responsible business, Banyan Tree was founded with the core value of driving sustainable development. The company seeks to continue being an agent of social and economic development through responsible tourism. Banyan Tree’s triple bottom line(financial, social and environmental) helps direct the company’s sustainable development by inspiring associates, guests, and partners to take a wider consideration encompassing a long term view when making business decisions.

Banyan Tree had launched three group-wide initiatives in line with its efforts to be a leading practitioner of CSR within the hospitality industry: Greening Communities, a programme to plant 2,000 trees per Banyan Tree Group property, over 10 years from 2007 to 2016, to promote the company’s efforts in raising awareness for climate change; Seedings, a three-phase community support programme which enhances the Group’s and its associates’ abilities to be an agent of social and economic development; and Resource Conservation, to explore efficiency initiative with the aim of reducing energy and water consumption at Banyan Tree Group properties.

The new exclusive resort of Banyan Tree Al Wadi lies amid stretches of desert sand in tranquil Wadi Khadeja, the protected enclave of the evergreen ghaf tree. The resort, which has been dubbed ‘an oasis of indulgence’, has very consciously adopted Middle Eastern design influences. Customised geometric Arabesque motifs are reiterated in light fittings, fretwork, timber and glass-reinforced concrete panelling. To enhance the sense of adventure, designers used elements of typical regional architecture, while the design ethos is predominantly Arabian, and there are also subtle Asian undertones throughout, as the ultimate aim was to create a delicately balanced design that was respectful of the hotel’s distinctive, Middle Eastern setting, but also paid homage to the company’s Asian roots.

This oasis of indulgence offers a contemporary adaptation of traditional Arabic architecture amidst miles of rolling sand dunes, creating a comfortably seamless experience of staying in the desert. A tribute to the heritage of the region – from the tented design that is inspired by local tribes and nomadic lifestyle, to traditional mud brick buildings – each villa also features elaborate Arabic touches of lattice woodwork, stylised motifs, intricate carvings in arabesque design and high ceilings. All 101 villas offer a tranquil view of the desert oasis for quiet contemplation, while the external area of each villa features a private pool enveloped by verdant gardens. The Tented Pool Villa also features a dedicated spa treatment room, and an outdoor shower amidst lush surrounds.

The spa, as expected, is true to the standards expected of Banyan Tree resorts worldwide. However, the designers have really gone to town with the facility at Ras Al Khaimah, creating a moody, exotic interior with touches of palace living without any obtrusive glamour. Worth a mention, actually worth an entire speech is the Rainforest, a state-of-the-art hydrothermal circuit and the first of its kind in the Middle East. Banyan Tree Al Wadi is the first desert resort in the United Arab Emirates to offer an all-pool villa concept, complete with 3,960 square metres of Asian-inspired hydrotherapy spa facilities, a dedicated nature reserve, a private beach club and an 18-hole championship golf course.

Banyan Tree Madivaru, Maldives sets unprecedented standards of luxury resorts accommodation in the Maldives. Maldivaru Island is graced with a pristine white sandy beach, skirting a crystal lagoon wrapped by breathtaking house reefs. The private cluster of freestanding tented pool villas, the first in the Maldives, is tastefully appointed with desert island inspired décor, replete with timber flooring, two outdoor showers, handcrafted wood furniture and luxurious tent canopies.

Interior furnishings exude a warm and tropical ambience, replete with timber flooring, rattan and teak furniture, handcrafted wooden and canvas accents, and luxurious ceiling canopies. Boa Keyo is the name of an indigenous tree covering large parts of the island. The name is also given to the cosy restaurant and bar, which, like the trees, give welcome shade during the heat of the day. Indoors, the tents are spacious and comfortable, furnished elegantly and the ideal place to retire to when it gets too warm on the beach. The outside deck graciously overlooks the Indian Ocean.

The interior is characterised by a harmonious design playing on colour schemes and quality materials. Fine teak wood is combined with quality textiles dyed in soft, natural colours. Hand-made, tropical furniture creates an authentic feel underpinned by elegant floorboards.

Banyan Tree Maldives Madivaru comprises 6 Tented Pool Villas. Each Tented Pool Villa comprises three individual tents, distinctively equipped to function as living, sleeping, and bath areas. The spacious bath tent features a pair of spa beds for enjoying in-villa treatments that include signature Banyan Tree Spa massages and facials.

Set within a disciplined framework focused on the careful equilibrium between contemporary design and indigenous traditions, the union of glass and exposed steel with that of local wood, brick and clay tiles serves as backbone to the architectural design. This revision of Naxi architecture is perfectly highlighted by the prevailing curved roof that sweeps across to encompass the grounds in its entirety. Conceptually, Lijiang Resort is built around a series of unfolding courtyards, intended to cumulatively present space as a progressive narrative. As one passes through each impending courtyard to reach the climatic inner courtyard, the glamour of the design finds revelation through unobstructed views of the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain – the ancient Chinese were true romantics – and sensations of withdrawal and serenity permeated.

Inspired by the intricate layout of the region’s rivers and bridges, Banyan Tree Lijiang draws its sense of place from immaculate courtyards interwoven by flowing streams, bamboo and classically maintained gardens. The interior décor, a distillation of Chinese style and method, features rich harmonious colours framed around careful attention to detail and beauty. The open nature of each of the 55 villas, coupled with a premeditated effort to present unobstructed views of the surroundings, succeeds in blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors, and in effect, establishes an enlarged impression of space. To ensure unhindered views of mountain and the purpose built a three-storey pagoda, buildings were positioned nine degrees northeast on the site plan, while the height of all constructed essentials were precisely controlled.

The luxurious resort villas in Banyan Tree Lijiang, Yunnan reflect the rich fabric of this locale through their designss and furnishings. Romance beckons in the form of an intimate suite dressed in an oriental palette of red, gold and black. The suites follow traditional sweeping roof designs, adapted from the local Naxi culture. Experience the majesty of China’s rich traditions in a Deluxe Garden Villa, which presents a spacious bedroom, study and bathroom, all carefully furnished with local objects d’art in bold russet and gold colours. The open concept of Chinese banquet setting lets you dine in an atmosphere of old-world elegance. For confidential business discussions, there is an air-conditioned private dining area that would be perfect for such occasions.

Inspired by the legendary land featured in James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon published in 1933, the name Shangri-La encapsulates the serenity and service for which Shangri-La is renowned worldwide. Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group and regarded as one of the world’s finest hotel ownership and management companies.

All hotel grounds are to be landscaped and planted with well-developed trees, shrubs and flowers indigenous to the area, or which can be expected with assurance to live in the climate with normal care and attention. Landscaped areas define the hotel approach, the exterior garden areas that may be used for public functions, areas around the swimming pool and other exterior recreational areas. The landscape design needs to make the views from the guest rooms as attractive as possible by enhancing existing vistas and screening off undesirable views, such as outside parking and service areas. The landscaping on the roof can create pleasing views of the ballroom roof and the hotel podium roof.

On the overall building design, the demarcation and visual relationship between the podium area and the hotel tower varies from being very pronounced and visible to slightly visible to almost no demarcation. Façade design, details, material finishes, colours and building height also account for these aesthetic aspects. Each guestroom floor configuration has certain characteristics that affect its potential planning efficiency.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts remains committed to operating in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible manner while balancing the interests of diverse stakeholders. In striving to be a leader in corporate citizenship and sustainable development, a corporate-level CSR Committee drives the company’s initiatives in the strategic areas of stakeholder relations, environment, health and safety, supply chain and employees. Under the umbrella of sustainability, Shangri-La’s social responsibility programme consists of the two elements of 'embrace' and 'sanctuary.' Embrace focuses on Shangri-La’s Caring People Project, which aims to promote the highest level of education and health support in underprivileged communities. In sanctuary, the programme concentrates on Shangri-La’s Care for Nature Project, which promotes the conservation and restoration of biodiversity.

Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa offers guests a stylish and luxurious experience in a spacious, and boutique-style environment. From private ocean retreats to tropical tree houses with panoramic views, resort accommodation features seven distinct different styles of luxurious villas. Most of these villas have a contemporary Asian design that combines traditional and modern elements. All furniture is custom-made and has been selected to complement the villas’ interiors and artworks. All these stylish villas are imbued with elements of the Middle-East and touches of India. A serene mood emanates throughout and all are decorated with warm, earthy-toned fabrics finished in soothing turquoise with silver Jali accessories.

The sensory thrills of eating and drinking, key parts of a divine getaway, each has homes and retreats on Villingili. Time and mood are perfectly matched at Dr. Ali’s by a variety of three living rooms, each representing different cultures and cuisines. The three living rooms are themed to the Indian Ocean, South China Sea and the Arabian Gulf regions. Javvu’s speciality is western cuisine with a touch of the Mediterranean. The island is sprinkled too with bars and lounges and hangouts for chilling or energizing away the night.

CHI, The Spa, is located at the highest geographical point on the resort - 2.3 metres above sea level. The signature therapies here are based on the five elements theory in which wood, fire, earth, water and metal are harmonised with the positive yang and negative yin energies within the body.

Pool villas, located onshore, feature a private pool, terrace and open-air shower and overlook the beach. There’s a range of beach villas including twin beach villas located in a garden setting complete with an infinity pool and a large roof patio and sundeck. Perched on stilts above the tree-line, luxury tree house villas offer guests a unique view of the surf, lagoons and the island’s lush green surroundings. And, connected to the island by a timber walkway, water villas feature a spacious bathroom with an oval bathtub and a day bed where guests can view the ocean from the comfort of their villas. Two presidential villas offering the ultimate in luxury complete the collection.

Situated along the northern shoreline facing the Andaman Sea, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa sits within a 30-acre tropical landscaped garden, interspersed with centuries-old rain trees and the resort’s Malaysian-inspired architecture.

Although it is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in every aspect of its operations, the resort’s mainstay look is traditional Malay. From its iconic Minangkabau-inspired roof architecture to its renowned brand of warm Malaysian hospitality, the resort is very much an embodiment of Malay and local culture, a proud showcase of the spirit and essence of Malaysia. The collection of traditional art and artifacts that adorn the resort’s hallways and lobbies serves as a narrative of a time when culture, art and tradition were an integral part of everyday life. These art pieces are divided into three themes relating to the land, the sea, and the people.

The resort also boasts CHI, The Spa, Shangri-La’s signature spa brand that provides a blend of Asian healing rituals and therapies that are further enhanced by traditional Malay wellness practices. CHI is one of Malaysia’s most spacious spas complete with a sanctum, yoga pavillion and 11 private treatment villas, each with its own personal garden. CHI’s distinct Asian influences and indigenous Malay and Peranakan ascents of rich timber wood flooring and stone walls are reflective of the local culture. With a spacious temple-like setting and bathed in earthy amber tones with a garden sanctum and yoga pavilion, CHI, The Spa is a sanctuary in its own enclave.

This iconic 38-year-old resort comprises 304 guestrooms and suites, and facilities such as meeting and function rooms including a 300-capacity ballroom, a health club, Par-3 executive golf course, three tennis courts, water sports centre, two swimming pools, free internet access and five restaurants and bars offering an array of international and local cuisine. Impressively designed, this all suite and villa resort features 80 suites, 42 villas and 2 residences. The resort combines panoramic sea views as well as tranquil, colourful and lush gardens, reflecting a true element of style in the culturally rich and luxurious environment of Bali. Each suite and villa is infused with a residential feel and is intricately adorned with indigenous materials, cultural artifacts and fabrics.

The landscape architecture is equally stunning with a real emphasis on flora and fauna and with the aim of creating life in a tame and magical forest. These sculptures of black lava stone riddle the resort, both in the public areas as well as in each villa and are very representative the ‘beauty of the Balinese mother’. The reference to culture is also very strong in the landscape design with many interesting detailed designs on public walkways, pillars and ceilings.

The architectural concept, be it interior or landscape, was born from an idea to provide a haven to guests away from their busy lives in a rich residential environment where the guest would feel the utmost comfort, as though they were in the comforts of their homes. The furniture in the suites and villas are individually produced for the resort and cannot be found anywhere else. The material used in the furniture is rich, imported and modern but the designs of the pieces are traditional and antique-like.

The interior design is also very reflective of Asian and Indonesian culture. The central art piece in each of the living rooms in the suites and villas is a Wedding Crown, which is a traditional intricately designed work of art worn by the bride at wedding ceremonies. The wood carvings that appear as art pieces on the walls and on bedside tables are Balinese inspired. Various designs of lamps in the suites and villas also reflect Asian tradition, for example table lamps in the living room feature a base representing a vessel that used to carry rice in the old days in China and another design feature of the lamps in the oversized bathroom is that of a roof of a Balinese Hindu temple with three to five interspersed levels of pyramid looking triangles.

As part of its commitment to environmentally sustainable development, The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort has created a 2.4-acre plant nursery and garden, which will provide fresh produce and herbs for use throughout the entire resort. The resort’s 'green team' – composed of an ecologist, two agronomists, and a landscape architect – cultivates native and indigenous plants that protect the natural vegetation of the resort’s lowland coastal and forest areas.

Punctuated by a sculpture by another Puerto Rican artist, Luis Torruella, the pool area is truly divine, surrounded by oversize chaise longues, swaying palms, and private cabanas. As part of its commitment to the environment, the resort has created a nearly 3-acre nursery and garden that supplies plants and trees for landscaping and reforestation as well as fresh produce for Fern, the property’s signature restaurant by Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

By Miami-based Nuhouse Design Associates, the 120-seat restaurant’s dark wooden flooring recalls the site’s plantation past, while a double-height chandelier, silver-leafed cork walls, and modernist furniture celebrate the aesthetic of today.

The 10,000-square-foot Remède Spa at The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico includes seven treatment rooms. Designed to rejuvenate and restore, the spa features relaxation areas, steam and sauna facilities, cold and hot plunge pools, a fully equipped fitness centre and several treatment rooms with private outdoor terraces.

Inside the clubhouse guests have access to the restaurant Molasses, a golf shop, a bar and men’s and ladies’ lounges and locker rooms offering a variety of amenities and services. Outside the clubhouse there is a full-size beachfront swimming pool and patio areas overlooking the ocean for dining and entertaining. The 139 guest rooms, including 35 suites, feature private terraces, custom furniture, and palatial marble bathrooms with hi-tech mirrors incorporating TV’s.

The St. Regis Princeville is steeped in grand Hawaiian heritage built on legendary grounds beside the emerald green Hanalei Valley and overlooking the awe inspiring Napali Coast. The St. Regis Princeville’s design brings a residential feel to the interiors and reflects Hawaii’s natural surroundings, the sea, sky and earth. The hotel’s transformation is guided by the Hawaiian concept of the Ahupua‘a, a philosophy of living in balance with nature. The resort has been re-envisioned to accentuate a sense of relaxed yet refined island luxury and timeless beauty.

The grand lobby is distinguished by a dramatic point of entry, including a cascading chandelier comprised of over 4,000 pieces of Murano glass echoing the waterfall of Na Molokama Mountain, a coffered ceiling of natural woven raffia, palm wood floors and soaring glass panels open to the sea and the beautiful sunsets of Mt. Makana.

The resort’s signature feature is a unique infinity pool situated on the ocean overlooking beautiful Hanalei Bay. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, naturally defined stonework and striking water features reflecting Hawaii’s tropical outdoor lifestyle, the pool deck also features the Nalu Kai Restaurant. For those in pursuit of sports and recreation, guests can experience.

As the resort’s signature restaurant, Kaua‘i Grill features spectacular views of Hanalei Bay. The dramatically designed interior of the restaurant features a rich palette of coco, ruby, cognac, leather, bronze and zebra woods evoking Hawaii’s luminous colours with a contemporary interpretation of island motifs. A spectacular, spiraling, lit fabric ceiling in the shape of a nautilus shell crowns the dining room, lending a dramatic glow by night and complementing the sweeping views by day. Spilling from the centre of the ceiling is a hand-crafted fiber optic and ruby glass hibiscus chandelier that echoes the surrounding mountain waterfalls and Hawaii’s indigenous flora.

The resort boasts 251 renovated guest rooms, including 51 premium ocean view suites. Using only the finest interior finishes, the interiors provide a sense of peace and a place commensurate with the island’s transcendent beauty.

4The internationally renowned Le Méridien brand was established in 1972 by Air France "to provide a home away from home for its customers." Currently, Le Méridien is a global hotel group with a portfolio of more than 120 luxury and upscale hotels in over 50 countries worldwide. The majority of its properties are located in the world’s top cities and resorts throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas.Mixing contemporary culture with its European heritage, Le Méridien creates a culturally refined, meaningful and stimulating atmosphere which inspires participants to celebrate the beauty of a moment and the possibilities for insight that live within common occurrences. Guests discover more than just a new destination. They discover a new way of seeing things.

Le Méridien boast three outstanding characteristics: exquisite, elegant and innovative. Le Méridien sticks to a series of international standards, which are key components of service qualities, incorporating and absorbing the distinguishing features of local heritage. Artists from different schools and countries are gathered in Le Méridien to enrich the hotel with totally new meanings with their unique styles and views. With higher degrees of humanisation and human kindness, Le Méridien makes each part and unit inside its property coordinate with the total environment. In brief, the more sensitive, elegant and amidable European and French styles with more Eastern colours are transmitted from other units, while elegance and amenity are a necessary part of the French tradition.

The quality, demonstrated by the architecture, decoration and equipments, should highlight the sturdiness rather than the technological complexity. The traditional natural materials should surpass the high-tech products which are popular for in a relatively short period. Those environment-friendly products except the materials such as cotton and CFCS should be used more frequently. The fussil fuels and the irreplaceable natural materials should be taken into limited utilisation.

Innovation should be a necessary part of the design standard. Generally, Le Méridien should be more like a humanised residential accommodation, totally incorporated with the local environment, rather than a monument. The hotel should boast the welcoming residential atmosphere highlighted by the local elements and the traditional architecture: a home from home rather than an anonymous transient place.

Showcasing innovative architecture and interior design, W Retreat Koh Samui – like Koh Samui itself – is an island within an island, a place that will “light up the night.” W Koh Samui has been designed as a modern paradise where the day is dedicated to individual moments in which guests can slip away from themselves and each other to refuel for what comes next. When night falls, the people and the Retreat come to life – nocturnal in nature like the W brand, full of energy and ready to mingle.

W’s signature W Lounge (W’s take on the traditional hotel lobby), a magnificent design, rich with stunning ocean vistas welcomes stylish island guests as they arrive at the retreat. Upon entry, guests will experience interactive digital floor projections that give way to an environment accented with off-white terrazzo floors, high ceilings cladded in angular bleached wood veneer panels, large bookshelves and oversized lamps. A key element of the W Lounge is a water feature and relaxing area, inspired by the shape of a lotus flower.

Right next to the W Lounge is the breathtaking WooBar. Open on three sides and perched on the corner of a hillside, WooBar offers 270-degree views of the Gulf of Thailand and the surrounding hillside. Overlooking the bar on the mezzanine level is the DJ booth, perched high from a commanding point in WooBar. The unique design allows WooBar to transform from day to night, becoming the ultimate destination to wow guests with W’s dynamic programming in the form of unique W Happenings – lifestyle events reflecting W’s passion for music, design, fashion and film.

Located adjacent to W Retreat Koh Samui will be The Residences at W Retreat Koh Samui, which will feature 17 secluded beachfront villas ranging from three to five bedrooms and from 1,000 to 2,752 square metres. Each residence offers a modern tropical Zen style with exotic touches, and each offers full access to the benefits, services and amenities of W Koh Samui.

The dialogue between the designed interiors and the natural setting creates an eclectic combination that extends from the surrounding landscapes to create a sense of contrast with the interior furnishings. Designed to be airy and whimsical, there is an evident seduction in the combination of pure and recycled materials, organic forms, and avant-garde furniture imported from Italy, all of which celebrate Vieques’ wild and natural surroundings. The centerpiece and focal point is the colourful, hand-painted map of Vieques that adorns the wall.

At the porte cochere, guests will be introduced to the property by a signature W Welcome, defining the entry into the elegant reception area wrapped in reclaimed wood. The lofty W Living Room features Tiger Eye area rugs, oversized brass-plated steel lamps with fabric shades, black leather chairs and plush field sofas by Moroso with bright and inviting oversized pillows, towards the vistas of the ocean and a dramatic Fire Pit on the outdoor lounge area. Pristine white sand beaches and the glow of the sun can be enjoyed at WET which features a minimal and neutral design creating a sense of inclusion of the innate surroundings.

The 6,000 square-foot Spa Chakra, the retreat’s signature spa is located in a separate pavilion next to the dazzling sea. This serene getaway features eight luxurious, vine-covered private indoor and outdoor treatment rooms separated from the main pavilion by a reflecting pool. The pavilion is surrounded by captivating gardens with strategically placed seating areas and pools, framing vistas of the ocean and tastefully incorporating the surrounding landscape into the design and architecture.

Spacious rooms feature a mix of sumptuous elements in shades of tan and beige with pops of colour throughout. While the bedroom and bathroom are united leaving little for imagination, living and sleeping areas are delineated by a thin, taupe curtain. Round seating known as 'Potato/Patata' by Moroso serves as a place to relax as well as the whimsical hanging sitting chair found on every balcony. Colourful lanterns hang above the original 'Vieques' bathtub which has been designed exclusively for the Retreat by Patricia. Minimal, natural and ironic, the old-fashioned tubs are made from painted steel with white on the inside and dark grey on the outside.

W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak offers a surprising, ultra-modern twist on Balinese design. Fusing festive colours, distinctive architectural shapes and traditional elements, AB Concept has created a luxury retreat of uncompromising quality. Located along Bali’s uber-chic Seminyak strip – home to the island's best restaurants, galleries and designer boutiques – the W Retreat & Spa ups the ante by bringing a new level of sophistication to the area. Comprising 158 hotel rooms and 79 one, two or three-bedroom private villas, W Bali covers 31,000 square metres over four floors.

AB Concept designed the interiors of this beachfront resort, including the stunning terraced lobby and W Lounge. Oversized day beds and billowing curtains inspire a relaxed vibe, while the quirky contours and palette of hot pinks and purples hint at the designers’ adventurous spirit. While dispensing with the teak-and-terrazzo formula so popular in many of Bali’s resorts, AB Concept remains respectful of the island’s rich cultural heritage. Architectural motifs reinterpret traditional Balinese art while the open-plan lobby provides natural ventilation for much of the year, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Lampshades woven from synthetic rattan resemble pagoda roofs while terrazzo tiling, cut to resemble leaf veins, shimmer with inlaid seashells.

Inspired by the colours of Bali’s sunsets and seascapes, the scheme pulls in the coastal landscape at every opportunity. From the violet-hued lustre of the lobby, to the aquatic greens of the guest retreats, AB Concept has seamlessly integrated natural elements into the design. Bed throws are hand stitched with a leaf pattern, skylights carved above the bath welcome the sunlight, and the library features furniture made of tropical timber and pillars of local volcanic stone. Adding a new level of luxury, the 79 self-contained villas offer a sense of relaxed outdoor living and boast a private pool. Delivering unrivalled levels of comfort, the three-bedroom villa’s courtyard features an outdoor bathtub, allowing guests to soak up the elements, open to the sky.

It is a peaceful retreat in the Mediterranean, in the Greek region of Messinia. Located next to the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea and inspired by old Messinian mansions, the resort's low-rise villa clusters use natural stone and local design elements to create a motif in perfect harmony with the virgin sandy beach and pristine hillside landscape and olive groves.

Based on the principles of bioclimatic architecture, the design is fully aligned with the region's traditional architectural patterns in terms of form, volume and scale. Special design features include over 5,000 square metres of planted roofs and artificial ponds to improve the local micro-climate, optimal use of sunlight through the orientation of buildings, landscaping, artificial and natural shading.

The interior design combines the rich heritage of the Peloponnese region with timeless architectural design and contemporary furniture and fittings. The aesthetic is a response to the location and is also inspired by the history and architectural inheritance of Messinia, while the interior environments correspond to today’s lifestyle.

Restaurants, serving ethnic, international and local cuisine, as well as the Lagoon pool-side bar and grill and The Diner for an original American diner experience, offer guests a wide and varied choice of culinary delights. The beach-entry and common swimming pools with swim-up bars, along with various lounge and chill-out bars, a library, a rustic lounge and extensive outdoor seating areas offer great opportunities to relax or enjoy fantastic views.

Set in a verdant hillside landscape, beautifully appointed deluxe rooms, family rooms and suites, ranging from 40 square metres to 80 square metres, as well as the grand 625 square metres Royal Villa Methoni, offer a mix of golf, sea and pool views and spacious terraces or balconies with lounge areas, while most ground-floor units have private infinity pools. The magnificent Royal Villa Methoni features butler service, a spa treatment suite with steam room, a media room, a private gym and a dedicated outdoor dining area with barbeque.

Sheraton solidified its reputation as a preeminent, lifestyle brand, and accelerated its growth in both established and emerging markets around the globe. It's gratifying to look at more than 70 years of brand prominence around the world. Sheraton is Starwood's global icon, connecting people around the world.

Sheraton has the priviledge of operating more than 700 hotels in over 80 countries across the world since 1963. With relatively stricter site selection rules, Sheraton hotels are mainly located in the appealing metropolises and resorts internationally. Focusing on the total condition of the locations, which can afford the direct ways, Sheraton hotels desire to leave guests with a favourable first impression. All the efforts made by Sheraton such as the light rigs at each side of the pathway, the elegant scene of the road, the appropriate placement of guideboards and ridge signs as well as other architectures and waterscapes, present the passing guests and cars with a home-like feeling.

Only the professional garden designers are commissioned by Sheraton hotels and resorts to make garden design plans, which should be visually attractive enough and accessible in all four seasons. There must be adequate plants in suitable sizes, which are adaptive to local climate, in a bid to take full advantage of the ground area while minimising the upkeep cost. The automatic irrigation system, if necessary, should be sheltered from guests’ eyes. There should be harmonious relations between the building design, scale and external walls, which should be made of durable, energy-efficient materials with lower cost of maintenance. However, the reinforcement material, the natural stones for instance, should be employed at the hotel entrance and other key areas on the ground. Meanwhile, the lighting equipments coordinative to the overall design style should be applied at the entrance and the periphery, which may increase the sense of safety. The hotel sign with built-in lighting installed at the entrance or the periphery should be clearly recognisable and furthermore capable of enhancing the beauty of the building façade.

Sheraton Hotel and Resort, as the second oldest hotel brand, is the largest hotel chain brand in the group of Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Being a top grade hotel that offering groups and tourists business and recreational services, Sheraton provides guests with various services including the all-round conference facilities, recreational equipments, catering services of each and every kind. Featuring home style design, Sheraton offers guests the most comfortable environment and services. All the guestrooms and the public areas are endowed with mature and stylish beauty.

Sheraton Salobre Golf Resort & Spa started from an initial project of Allen + Philp Architects. While the majority of its work is within the USA, and primarily in the southwest, its commissions are international. Allen + Philp Architects design philosophy projected specifically in reflecting Sheraton & Salobre Golf Hoteles development priorities and goals – with emphasis on the environment within the Salobre Golf.

Along with Allen + Philp's philosophy, carefully chosen materials feature the resort in order to integrate the hotel within the natural environment. There are several different natural stones used in the resort such as the local stone from Ayagaures, Gran Canaria, an earth-orange coloured stone used in the hotel’s facade; Kota Stone (brought from China); Black Basalt from Tenerife Island used for the pavements; and white Sahara stone brought from Turkey used mainly in the central area of the resort as pavement around the pools. The hotel provides a very open feeling of spaciousness due to its special green climatic. Glass-ware shaped with graphite coloured Technal was used in the whole resort area.

The design of this Camaleon restaurant is minimalist and actual with a partly informal ambience and with a deep sense of elegance. It offers three levels and thus you can either enjoy the fantastic views over the mountains of the south of Gran Canaria or the crystal panoramas. Moreover, according to the season and your personal gusto, you can choose between dining inside the restaurant with its 'chic' design or outside on the terrace and clink glasses under the stars.

The new Sheraton Salobre Golf Resort & Spa has 313 rooms, including 241 Deluxe Rooms, 45 Premier Rooms, 9 Junior Suites, 17 Suites with separate living room and bedroom, and one Presidential Suite with a private roof top terrace with Jacuzzi.

One&Only Palmilla is located on a soft sandy beach along the idyllic Baja coast, where mighty waters of the Pacific greet playful waves in the Sea of Cortez, an ancient mountainous desert cradles a verdant oasis of sublime luxury and sheer elegance. One&Only Palmilla is a place of rediscovery, of the joy of life, the magic of moonlight, the pure pleasure of sun and surf, music and laughter. It is a place that rekindles the spirit and sense of wellbeing.

One&Only Palmilla fronts one of the region’s few swimmable beaches and features two dramatic infinity-edge pools – one dedicated to adults only, the other for families. With private infinity-edge pools, plunge pools and terraces that open to the Sea of Cortez, exceptionally spacious beachfront casita suites are unrivalled among luxury resorts, each offering direct access to a private piece of sandy shore.

Privately situated on its own secluded beach, the stunning Villa Cortez embraces the chic design of a modern-day hacienda. The expansive four-bedroom estate indulges with a 12-person theatre, infinity-edge pool, spa treatment area and state of the art fitness centre complete with KinesisTM studio. The Villa also features home office, indoor and outdoor kitchens, and exterior beachfront palapa for fireside entertaining under a blanket of stars.

Ancient healing techniques and cutting-edge therapies balance body and spirit at the elegant One&Only Spa. All treatments are conducted in the privacy of your own spa villa – a discreet sanctuary with an open air garden, daybed, rain shower, and air-conditioned massage pavilion. A tranquil Star & Flower garden, yoga pavilion, state-of-the-art fitness centre with KinesisTM studio, hydrotherapy pool, and hair and nail salon are also part of the spa facilities.

Serenely private and sensuously elegant, all guest accommodation blends the distinctive artistry of Mexico with sumptuous touches of modernity and every contemporary amenity. All guestrooms face toward the sea, offering expansive ocean views from a private verandah with day bed and personal telescope; a privileged vantage to witness grey whales breaching majestically offshore, or starlight dancing on the horizon.

From its pillared portico and manicured lawns to the romantic Versailles-inspired gardens and 12th-century Augustinian cloister, this resort blends the grandeur of an Old World manor with the relaxed style of The Bahamas. Drawing inspiration from British colonial style and native Bahamian elements, famed interior designer Adam D. Tihany began the complete interior renovation of the Crescent Wing’s 40 Beachfront Rooms and 10 Beachfront Suites in June 2010 by offering a uniquely fresh and colourful interpretation of Bahamian lifestyle.

With its classic Colonial architecture, the two-storey Hartford Wing offers guestrooms and suites with lovely views of the ocean or garden grounds. This wing features 46 rooms and four suites. The luxurious villas have been designed in the same classic Bahamian style as the existing rooms and suites, and each features a whirl pool and a dining pavilion in a private garden, full kitchen facilities, a spacious living area, two master suites and spectacular ocean views.

Dune is the One&Only Ocean Club’s 150-seat beachfront restaurant. The elegant eatery, designed by interior designer Christian Liaigre, is set literally in the dunes and offers spectacular, panoramic ocean views. The Executive Board Room is a colonial-style, stand-alone building with an attached covered patio nestled in the garden grounds. The 850-square-foot Hartford Room is a secondary meeting option with flexible setup. The new fitness centre features mahogany floors, the latest in sate-of-the-art technology equipment. It also has the Kinesis™ system and a uniquely designed outdoor free-weight training platform.

Boasting an intimate and exclusive spa facility that easily rivals any in the Caribbean and perhaps the world, the One&Only Spa features a fusion of ancient Asian holistic philosophies with uniquely Bahamian hospitality and serene, lush surroundings. To make each guest’s spa experience as personalised and indulgent as possible, the spa is comprised of eight private spa villas, where guests can enjoy their treatments in complete sanctuary. Guest accommodations reflect the refined qualities of an elegant home, tasteful in every detail and appointed with modern amenities. There are two distinct wings – Hartford and Crescent, a cluster of cottages in the tropical gardens, and three luxurious villas.

Situated on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town, the One & Only resort continues the luxurious, bespoke, and sophisticated concepts for which Kerzner International and Tihany Design are renowned. Its location in the historic heart of Cape Town's working harbour, paired with Tihanys unique design features, creates an unforgettable experience.

The elegant and contemporary Lobby design reveals subtle hints of Africa throughout. Minimal and clean, calming cream tones complement the sandstone floors. Expansive windows overlook the prominent landmark Table Mountain and a combination of local contemporary and tribal artwork is exhibited for an entirely Cape Town impression. To the left of the Vista Bar&Lounge is the three-storey glass wine wall belonging to the all day dining restaurant Reuben's. Guests enter under the functional wine wall, which glows from within, into the restaurant space consisting of an immense dining room, a patisserie, and a terrace for wine tasting. On the opposite side of the Vista Bar&Lounge, the legendary Nobu serves as the hotels’ second culinary destination. Its most notable feature is the textured, translucent origami light fixture that crawls along the ceiling throughout the space which is in the shape of South Africa.

Within the Marina Rise, guests can choose from Marina Rooms, Marina Suites, Grande Suites, a Table Mountain Suite, and last but certainly not least, the Presidential Suite. A variety of Island suite and room styles also fulfills every guest' s needs. The resorts sophisticated and original NEO Boutique design matches its unique product offering, including one-of-a-kind fashions for men and women, as well as custom jewellry, locally designed accessories, and objects for the home. On an island of its own, the spa continues the calming, neutral tones found throughout the resort with dark brown finished woods and cream marbles. Spa highlights include a salon, relaxation room, treatment rooms, special pedicure treatments, wet areas, vitality pools, steam rooms, and saunas.

In the Maldives, the distilled essence of every tropical dream, Naïade has created its own ode to nature’s lavish display of pure beauty and enchantment. The island is a languorous stretch of land, bordered by beaches with sand like powdered moon light and an exceptionally beautiful lagoon. The transparent turquoise water is home to an infinite wealth of marine life; and when you take your eyes off the lagoon, the island itself is a secluded paradise: lazy shaded pathways meander between majestic coconut trees, the bright colours and delicate scents of myriads of tropical flowers a refreshing counterpoint to luscious greens and glimpses of blue waters. Thoughtfully created in the midst of this exuberance of Nature, Diva Maldives is a fusion of water and light, perfectly exquisite!

At the heart of the island, nestled in a cocoon of lush vegetation, Diva’s Infinity spa is a haven of relaxation where time fades and the mind and body are rejuvenated. Magnificent views of the Indian Ocean from the deluxe treatment villas elevate the spa experience to sublime new levels. In addition to panoramic views from the windows, glass floors in some treatment rooms offer views of magnificent coral and tropical fishes, transporting you to a tranquil underwater sanctuary...

Diva Beach Resort has a superb range of restaurants and bars, each set in stunning locations: along the sandy white shores, nestled in the lush gardens, or perched over-water on pontoons, to capture the evening breezes and lulling sound of water beneath.

Diva’s suites and villas, whether perched over water or scattered along the beach, are a tribute to nature and authentic luxury. Lush gardens enfold this exceptional luxury hotel surrounded by a sparkling blue lagoon, home to a rich ecosystem of marine life. Contemporary, stylish furniture and bright colours underline the sophisticated simplicity of the villas, combined with a great sense of space, opening onto the beach and lagoon. This Maldives beach resort ensures that guests are in constant contact with nature, redolent with the atmosphere of lazy days lounging on the terrace, or beneath palms in the garden.

Set on a superb beach at Belle Mare on the east coast of Mauritius, the Beau Rivage has an air of relaxed, understated elegance. At the centre of the majestic lobby, a large pool with turquoise mosaics opens onto the curved lines of the expansive swimming pool and the aquamarine lagoon. Thatched roofs echo legendary Mauritian hospitality and bestow an authentic charm to the buildings. The refined decor that pairs the strong sophistication of wrought iron with pure cotton and linen fabrics and the natural warmth of wood, gives Beau Rivage a real feeling of rare, sought–after tranquility.

For those seeking a truly intimate and indulgent escape, an exclusive enclave of 12 luxurious villas offers refined living spaces, private pools set in verdant tropical gardens. The resort’s world-class facilities - including four restaurants and two bars, the tranquil Beau Rivage’s spa, a range of water sports and an irresistible swimming pool – are just a short stroll away.

An exclusive enclave of 12 luxurious villas offers refined colonial-style living spaces, private pools set in verdant tropical gardens. The architects Christophe Gébert and Stéphane Fabre have designed and built distinctly Mauritian villas. True to island tradition, the combination of high sugarcane thatched roofs and volcanic rock walls make the villas seamlessly blended in the tropical gardens, whilst allowing for tall, cool interiors. The interior design is another nod to the crossroad of civilisations that is Mauritius.

Designer Virgine Koenig has brought in local Mauritian paintings, Bamileke stools, fabrics from India, porcelains and furniture from China, African lamps, and old sea chests; they give the villas a feeling of travelling back in time, to the age of old colonial empires. Built in staggered rows and set back from each other, the villas are sheltered from all eyes. The names of the villas were inspired by poems on Mauritius, land of beauty and warmth.

On the tranquil north coast of Mauritius, Legends is a haven of peace and harmony inspired by Feng Shui. From its stunning setting, curled around small coves and beaches on a secluded peninsula, to the shallow pools in the reception area and the Koi carps gracefully converge to greet the guests. The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui is at the very heart of Legends. It subtly carries through to garden pathways, serene interiors, rock-sheltered clear pools, secreted havens of peace in the shade of the old banyan trees with breathtaking views over the lagoon. Every moment spent here carries special meaning and real contentment. Legends is pure magic and endless romance, truly unforgettable.

The circulation of Chi or positive flow of energy is reflected throughout the design of this luxury hotel, from the spectacular Koi fish swimming peacefully in the pond beyond the lobby, to the beauty of bamboo, meandering paths and wind chimes tinkling in the breeze.

Tranquility and harmony are at the heart of a stay at Legends, along with an impressive choice of fine restaurants and relaxing bars, a spa offering the ultimate in indulgence and a wide array of water sports and other activities. Welcome to a very special Zen experience, where the marriage of ancient philosophy with contemporary design ensures a memorable holiday in Mauritius.

Imbued with the omnipresent Feng Shui principles, the Spa Qi offers unique experiences designed to rebalance the mind and body and promote the flow of positive energy - through the expert use of essential oils, sounds and flavours.

Faithful to the soothing and regenerative principles of Feng Shui, each of the six room types are designed around a different element, with décor and materials to match. The location of the buildings, their décor and furnishings all have been carefully chosen to ensure a harmonious flow of Chi or energy.

Set in tropical gardens fronting white sandy beaches, rustling coconut trees and a sapphire blue ocean, lies Tamassa, a four-star beach hotel in Mauritius. This vibrant hotel is a hymn to the best of Mauritius settings, located in Bel Ombre in the south-west of the island, renowned for its verdant sugarcane fields, dramatic mountains and natural splendour. Much more than an idyllic landscape, Tamassa marries refined style, bespoke materials and contemporary design with a tropical island vacation second to none.

Tamassa is a spacious resort that provides a contemporary setting for a young clientele that likes to be different. All the rooms, housed in a set of villas, face the sea. They are arranged in three arcs, two around large swimming pools with a beach and the third on the seafront. All the common areas, on the other hand, are grouped together in village style, between the sea and the sugarcane fields running all the way to the foothills of the mountains.

Responsible for the architecture and design of the resort, architect Denis Lenferna and interior designer Virginie Koenig are both Mauritians and have cleverly blended traditional style with innovative design. The resort features striking terracotta coloured roofs and walls built from local volcanic stone, all set in well- tended tropical gardens. Inside, the designer juxtaposes African hardwood with stainless steel and fiber glass, for a clean and playful effect. The colours are bold, bright and tropical, and contemporary lighting is used throughout the hotel.

The traditional style of Tamassa's architecture is ideally suited to the beautiful tropical setting and lush landscaping of the beach resort's gardens. Earth- coloured roofs and walls made from local volcanic stone create an immediately charming effect. The buildings and guest rooms seem at one with nature, the bold palette of the décor complimenting the vibrant landscape beyond the windows. Clean lines and a contemporary feel create accommodation that is stylish, attractive and comfortable. All guestrooms at the beach resort face the sparkling ocean and are arranged in arcs around expansive swimming pools and the waterfront.
