RESIDENTIAL STATUS and
tax incidence
![Page 2: RESIDENTIAL STATUS and tax incidence - Govt.college for ...cms.gcg11.ac.in/attachments/article/101/residential status and tax... · Tax incidence on an assessee depends on his residential](https://reader035.fdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022081521/5ad784e17f8b9ab8378c4298/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
Tax incidence on an assessee depends on his
residential status.
For instance, whether an income, accrued to an
individual outside india, is taxable in india depends
upon the residential status of the individual in india.
Similarly, whether an income earned by a foreign
national in india (or outside india) is taxable in india,
depends on the residential status of the individual,
rather than on his citizenship. Therefore, the
determination of the residential status of a person is
very significant in order to find out his tax liability.
