RESEMBLE THE FATHER, ABIDE IN CHRIST

1 John 3:1

1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are.

Galatians 4:4-6 4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “ Abba! Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

Galatians 4:6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “ Abba! Father!”

Galatians 4:7 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

Galatians 4:7 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

John 1:12-13

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

2.  We will love Others (1 John 3:11-15)

1)  WE WILL NOT SIN

1 John 3:4-7 4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;

1 John 3:8-9 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 3:4-7 4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;

1 John 1:8

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us

1 John 3:6-9 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous….9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 2:5-6

But whoever keeps His word, in him

the love of God has truly been

perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who

says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same

manner as He walked.

1 John 2:10

The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is

no cause for stumbling in him.

1 John 2:24

As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in

you, you also will abide in the Son and

in the Father.

John 15:4-5

4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

What is the significance of the Branch and the Vine in Abiding?

1 John 3:10

By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

1)  WE WILL LOVE OTHERS

1 John 3:11-12 11 For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.

Genesis 4:8 Cain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him

1 John 3:15

Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him

1 John 3:16-17 16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?

1 John 3:18 18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

Luke 6:32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

Luke 6:27-31 27 “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. 30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. 31 Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.

Luke 6:32-36 32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

1 John 3:16

We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1 John 3:19-22 19 We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him 20 in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22 and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

1 John 3:23 23 This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. 24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

1 John 3:1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are.
