Abide Update 2012

2012 “Lord Willing...." I like making plans. I guess it gives me a sense that I am heading in a direction that makes sense and will produce a desired result. I think making plans is a good thing as long as we sincerely add the words "Lord willing." What difference do the words "Lord willing." make? They take the pressure off of us to be the source of our own success. These simple words spoken sincerely force us to say "I am not God!” Trying to be God drives human beings insane. People who think they are God are insane. People who think they can control an annual calendar are not completely insane but it is a start in that direction unless you add the words "Lord willing." So, with staying sane in mind, here is a picture of our ministry plan for 2012, Lord willing. We (Pam and I) will host at least 5 retreats in the mountains of Brazil at the Abide Retreat Center. We hope to receive over 200 participants. I (Bud) will mentor the pastoral teams of three churches during 2012. Those churches are First Baptist of São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Memorial Baptist of Alphaville, São Paulo and The Third Baptist Church of Brasilia, Brasilia. I (Bud) will mentor on an individual basis another 8 Brazilian pastors. We will visit Portugal in order to continue the mentoring process in a few key churches and in the Baptist seminary of Lisbon. I will continue radio broadcasts in Southern Brazil and begin broadcasts here in our home city.

2012“Lord Willing...."I like making plans. I guess it gives me a sense that I am heading in a direction that makes sense and will produce a desired result. I think making plans is a good thing as long as we sincerely add the words "Lord willing."

What difference do the words "Lord willing." make? They take the pressure off of us to be the source of our own success. These simple words spoken sincerely force us to say "I am not God!”

Trying to be God drives human beings insane. People who think they are God are insane. People who think they can control an annual calendar are not completely insane but it is a start in that direction unless you add the words "Lord willing."

So, with staying sane in mind, here is a picture of our ministry plan for 2012, Lord willing.

I will finish a new book on the inner life of a believer.

I will write 52 new weekly devotions.

We will visit the USA in March to meet our 11th grandchild, hug family and thank supporters.

We will coordinate a new ministry called Abide Reading Groups across Brazil.

We will attempt to launch a new counseling ministry called "THE LIFE SPACE" in at least one of the churches where we minister.

I will travel from north to south and from east to west across Brazil conducting seminars and speaking in churches.

We wil love each other, counsel others, do weddings, visit the sick, be good friends, good neighbors and enjoy each day in Jesus.

Can you see now why we all need to sincerely say.....

LORD WILLING!

Lord willing you will pray for us and support us in 2012.
