• Drink- More important drinks are, Becherovka, Sekt and, of course, the world renowned Pilsner beer Pils or Pilsner

- In the Czech Republic the average beer consumption is 157 liters per inhabitant per year, the largest in the world.

-Pilsener or Pilsner beer is the type originally developed in the city of Pilsen, western Bohemia. Drink is a light color and alcohol content is half.

9. Traditions• Kings Parade

Boys on a horse, which is adorned with colored ribbons, walk in the village and recite poems to celebrate their king, to ask for gifts for him. The king is represented by a boy of 10 to 12 years old who wears a folk female costume.

• The burning of witches

The night of 30 April to 1 May. It is a superstition where it is believed that the devil can harm people through the witches. So people makes bonfires in order to protect themself the witches´s attacks.

• May 1st - "time of love”The first of May every girl should be kissed under a cherry blossom to preserve its beauty. Prague lovers go to the Petrin Hill to put a flower at the monument of Karel Hynek Macha (1810-1836), who is Czech romantic poet.

• Verbena

In autum, just after the harvest, comes the time for rest and fun. On the table was meat, poultry, cakes, bread. They eat, drink, dance and sing as well. Currently, in most towns where verbena is celebrate, they installed an atraction park. in addition, they prepare a special type of cake.

9. Traditions• Ánimas´s day

Since 998 Souls Day celebrated on 1st and 2st November. In some towns they prepared a special pasta called "souls" to be distributed among the beggars.

Today to remember the dead tombs are decorated with flowers, wreaths and candles.

• Barborky According to popular tradition, on 4th December with the first sunlight,a man cut a twig of cherry tree that was at least ten years and he brought it to a home where lived an unmarried girl. If the branch bloomed on Christmas Eve, it meant that she would find her boyfriend next year. If the flower out before, meant that married before, each day was one month. Currently barborky represent part of the Christmas decorations.

11. Geographical features

The Czech Republic is a European country, which border with Poland to the north, with Slovakia to the east, with Austria to the south, and with Germany to the west. It is known locally as Cesko and officially as Ceska republika. It´s with Poland, Slovakia and Hungary a member of the Visegrad group of nations.
