1 Report of One Week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “Network, Network Simulation, Sensor Network & Information Security” One Week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “N etwork, N etwork S imulation, S ensor N etwork & I nformation S ecurity” organized by the S. S. Agrawal Institute of Computer Science(SSAICS) & S. S. Agrawal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SSAIET), affiliated to Gujarat Technological University(GTU), Ahmedabad was held during Monday 26 th - Saturday 31 st December 2016 at S. S. Agrawal Institute of Computer Science(SSAICS), Navsari, Gujarat, India. The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of Inaugural Session Prof. (Dr.) Mohit Prakash Tahiliani, National Institute of Technology (NITK), Surathkal, Karnataka in which 30 researchers, faculty members and students from various states of India from reputed organizations attended the first of its kind Short Term Training Program that provided practical hands on lab session and tutorials on NS3 Network Simulator, WireShark, Castalia Simulator, Sensor Network and Information Security. Tahiliani, NIT, Surathkal, Karnataka First Day: Prof. Vipa Desai, Assistant Professor, SSAICS welcomed the guests and registered participants, Prof. Roshni Bhandari, Assistant Professor, SSAIET briefed about activities going on at Agrawal Education Campus and introduced Chief Guest of the inaugural function. Dr. Nirbhay Chaubey, Co-ordinator of the program, Associate Professor & Principal (I/c), SSAICS gave the opening remarks, briefed about the course contents, objective of the training program and shared his views on the network simulation topic. Dr. Mohit Tahiliani, NITK, Surathkal, Karnataka delivered a key note address and conducted a special tutorial session on importance of Network Simulation in the program. Further, he talked about NS3 Installation and Configuration on Linux, “Differences between ns-2 and ns-3, Structure of a C++ program in ns-3, C++ and Python programs”, simulation example and conducted hands on lab session.

One Week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “Network, Network Simulation, Sensor

Network & Information Security” organized by the S. S. Agrawal Institute of Computer

Key note address by Dr. Mohit P. Tahiliani, NIT,

Surathkal, Karnataka

First Day: Prof. Vipa Desai, Assistant Professor, SSAICS welcomed the guests and registered

participants, Prof. Roshni Bhandari, Assistant Professor, SSAIET briefed about activities going on at

Second Day: In the morning session, Dr. Mohit P. Tahiliani explained about Wireless Network

Simulations, “Using PyViz and NetAnim for visualizations” followed by lab session. In

the afternoon session: Dr. Bhushan H. Trivedi, Director, GLS Institute of Computer

Technology, GLS University, Ahmedabad explained about “Learning organization of

Network Protocols and their working through WireShark" followed by lab session.

Third Day: In the morning session on Third Day: Professor Vrushank Shah explained about “Intrusion Detection with Fusion of Multiple Sensors”. In the afternoon session: Dr.

Mohit Tahiliani explained “Simulating BSS and IBSS in ns-3”, Simulating Rate

Adaptation Algorithms in ns-3, Basics of LTE simulation in ns-3”, followed by lab session.

Fourth Day: Dr. Mohit Tahiliani talked about “The performance of LTE Schedulers in ns-3, Cloning a protocol, Implementing a new module in ns-3” followed by lab session.

Fifth Day: In the morning session on fifth day, Dr. Nirbhay Chaubey, Associate Professor, SSAICS

talked about “Security issues in Ad Hoc Network and theoretical analysis of AODV Routing Protocol-

Some Research Directions” followed by expert talk by Prof. Vijay Ukani, Associate Professor, Nirma

University, Ahmedabad. Prof. Ukani talked on Castalia Simulator, developing own MAC, Routing

and Application module and conducted hands on lab session.

[Expert talk by Prof. Keyur Jani on “Modification in

AODV routing protocol to provide trust based

security in design of Ad Hoc Networks”].

Sixth Day: In the morning session, Professor Keyur Jani, talked about “Modification in AODV

routing protocol to provide trust based security in design of Ad Hoc Networks”. In the afternoon

session, valedictory function was organized. Dr. G.R. Kulkarni, Principal, SSAIET, welcomed the

Chief Guest of the function Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Executive Director, TIFAC, New Delhi, invited

guests and participants. Dr. Prabhat Ranjan delivered a key note address on “India’s Technology

Vision – 2035 and Applications for Nation and Society". Dr. Nirbhay Chaubey, Co-ordinator,

STTP presented six days detailed technical session reports and proposed vote of thanks. Training

Completion Certificates were presented to the participants.
