Israel is a small country (Size: 22,000 Square Kilometers)

Population is around 7.7 Million, half of the land is an arid desert

Israel is also one of the leading countries in innovation, Science, Hi-Tech, Medicine, Agriculture, Water Management and more..

And so, the demand is growing..

Page 5: Renewable Energy in Israel

Global oil supply can't meet global oil demand forever..

Some estimations say that by 2040, production levels may be down to around 20% of what we currently consume

Overview – Energy in Israel • Israel’s main current sources of energy are: Coal (43%) and Gas (37%)

• Israel wishes to advance to alternative resources (Its efforts were given a boost by the recent discovery of substantial offshore reserves of natural gas)

• Renewable energy sources: only 0.1% of the total capacity..

• Today, the national grid can absorb only 5%-20% of its energy from renewable sources - due to its inability to tolerate fluctuation

• ‘Israel Electric Corporation’ (IEC) is the sole supplier of all electrical power in Israel • The political situation prevents interconnections with neighboring countries (harms future chances for large-scale exports of electricity within the region\to the EU)
