INFORMATION ON USE MANUAL This manual provides information on setting up and using the RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency unit for aesthetic use. It is an indispensable reference guide for the user: it is fundamental to carefully read the content of this manual before installing and using the units and to always keep it at hand for rapid consultation. Failure to comply with the instructions in this manual, in whole or in part, may lead to malfunctions and damages to the unit, resulting in the warranty becoming void. Only by carefully following the manufacturer instructions and recommendation can users be sure to achieve the best results and, when necessary, fast and efficient after-sales assistance.

THE RADIO FREQUENCY: RENEW FACE&BODY

What is it Radio Frequency treatments are one of the new frontiers in aesthetic medicine. They are successfully applied as a non-invasive method for skin rejuvenation and achieve results that are very close to those obtained by surgical facelifts. This powerful technique is also widely applied in the treatment of cellulite, loose tissues and localized adiposity. Radio Frequency treatments are based on emissions of high-frequency radio waves and exploit the high-power thermal energy produced by the tissues when they are exposed to radio waves. The intensity of the thermal effects depends on the conductivity of the tissues subjected to treatment. Tissues having greater impedance, such as adipose (fatty) tissues, generate more heat and the thermal effects are consequently greater. Radio Frequency treatments are based on the principle that treated areas exhibit an increase in temperature, conveying energy to the deep dermis and the subcutaneous layers. This improves cell functions and blood circulation, stimulates the lipolysis (breakdown) of subcutaneous fat and increases the synthesis of collagen.

Where it acts and effects Radio Frequency treatments act on the tissues and produce the following results: - three-dimensional contraction of collagen fibres, with a 360 volume effect - Drawing of liquids up to the surface - Improvements in the micro-circulation system - Removal of toxins - Synthesis of new collagen - Tightening of tissues - Smoothing of tissues (lifting effect) - Restructuring of the skin - Increased skin density in the short term - Oxygenation of tissues

General applications modalities in aesthetic Radio Frequency treatments can be carried out at any time of the year without upsetting the subjects daily lifestyle. The initial effects can be seen immediately and gradually progress during the following weeks.

TREATMENT PROTOCOL

Depending on the type of problem to be treated, the operator will choose the more suitable program, following the table on page 9.

Preparing the client

The treatment room must have a comfortable temperature in order to avoid shivers or muscular tremors. The client must be in as comfortable position as possible; it is recommended, like in other cases of physical treatment, to explain to the client, prior to treatment, which sensation is to be expected. Also ensure that you are aware and able to follow all indications relating to safety.

PRELIMINARY TREATMENT PROTOCOL

Estetic Italia proposes the method to rejuvenate, smooth and regenerate tissues, quickly and without contraindications, thanks to the use of Renew Face & Body.

Before every face and body treatment, the use of the Softlight laser unit is recommended, with programmes (1-13-16-27) for 15 minutes. This treatment allows to create a vasodilatation which favours the microcirculation, the collagen synthesis, and notably improves the oxygenation of tissues.

It is recommended to subsequently apply the Bodyson 8 ultrasound unit with gel for 10 minutes, using the face applicator or body plates which, thanks to the mechanical, thermal and chemical effects, prepares the tissue causing the permeability and temperature increase of the cellular membrane, as well as the acceleration of the tissues particles.

This pre-treatment system allows the subsequently applied radio frequency, to act deeply, completely and in a long lasting manner

IT IS RECOMMENDED TO HAVE THE CLIENT SIGN THE FOLLOWING DECLARATION BEFORE STARTING THE RENEW FACE&BODY TREATMENT CYCLE:

DURATION AND COSTS OF TREATMENT We recommend two sessions a week for two months. -the treatment cost varies from 60 to 150 euro for each single treatment. The above-said treatment duration is purely indicative. Only the operator will be able to evaluate and recommend the number of treatments and duration of each single treatment.

IT IS RECOMMENDED TO START THE TREATMENT WITH POWER THAT DOES NOT EXCEED 50%, WHICH WILL THEN BE PROGRESSIVELY INCREASED ON THE BASIS OF THE TREATMENT TO BE PERFORMED THE POWER PERCENTAGE WILL VARY DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF INSERT, SKIN AND AREA TO BE TREATED. IT IS THEREFORE RECOMMENDED TO KEEP THE APPLICATOR OR THE EARTHING PLATE AS NEAR AS POSSIBLE TO THE AREA TO BE TREATED, SO THAT THE IDEAL TEMPERATURE IS REACHED QUICKLY.

IDEAL USE

of the inserts/electrodes are in order before turning on the main power switch and starting a session.

After having applied the cable for connecting the adaptors to the appropriate connector, insert the power plug into the wall socket (230 Vac) and activate the unit by switching the main ON/OFF switch on the back panel to "ON". This will turn on the RENEW FACE & BODY unit and the back-lit LCD will light up, meaning that the device is ready for use. The LCD display will light up showing the logo:

Press the encoder knob to go to the first page (Fig. 2). Here you can choose between three operating modes by pressing the relative function key.

SETTINGS TO START A TREATMENT WITH RENEW FACE&BODY

TO EDIT THE SETTINGS If wanting to edit and save the basic settings which will be automatically recalled every time the unit is switched on, in the internal memory, press the function key relating to the SETTINGS button (see fig. 2), the following screen will be loaded (see fig. 3):

Here you can choose which parameters to edit among those available (LCD brightness and contrast) for adjusting the displays visibility to the local conditions. Select the parameter to edit and turn the Encoder knob clockwise to increase its intensity or anticlockwise to reduce it. Press the function key relating to the EXIT button to return to the page shown in fig. 2. The page also shows the version of the software currently installed on the unit.

STARTING A FACE TREATMENT Press the function key relating ot the FACE TREATMENT button (see fig. 2), the following screen is loaded with the indications on preparing the subject undergoing the treatment (see fig. 5):

Turn the encoder knob clockwise to go to more pages containing information on how to proceed (see fig. 6, 7 and 8):

Once you reach the last page (see fig. 8), turning the encoder knob anticlockwise will show the information pages in reverse order. These pages can be used as an on-line Help and provide operators with the basic information required before starting a treatment session, for example:

- The procedure to follow to carry out the selected treatment - Information on any contraindications for the selected treatment - What persons should not be subjected to the selected treatment

After following the instructions in the previous screens, press the encoder knob to set the treatment parameters. The following screen will appear (see fig. 9):

Press the function key relating to the MODIFY button to toggle between the screens shown in fig. 9 and fig. 10:

On these screens you can set the parameters for a standard treatment, such as:

- The issued power (see fig. 9), which is set by default at 50%; operators can change the value before or during the treatment

- The treatment time (see fig. 10), which is set by default at 20 minutes; operators can change the value

before but not during the treatment Once these parameters are set, press START to start the treatment. On the screens shown in fig. 9 and fig. 10 there are two boxes that show a series of dots before you press START: this is read-only value that cannot be edited by the operator. Press START to start the treatment: the treatment starts as shown by the countdown (see fig. 11).

The unit will periodically check the treatment temperature and will continue to work until reaching the temperature set by the operator through the power.

CAUTION

When carrying out facial treatments the face applicator can only be used with the electrodes having diameter 30 mm or 40 mm.

When the applicator comes into contact with the part being treated, a power will be detected (expressed as a percentage) whose numeric value will replace the previously met dots. The above-mentioned power represents the power actually absorbed by the RENEW FACE & BODY unit as referred to the maximum power the unit is capable of supplying (equal to 100% of the power parameter). When a treatment is under way, pressing the STOP button once will pause the unit and temporarily interrupt the treatment. Following which (see fig. 12):

- The operation phase field shows the message "In pause..." - the measured field shows a series of dots instead of the temperatures numeric value, as the treatment

is currently suspended

The operator can change the settings if necessary and decide whether to resume the treatment or definitively end it. Press START to resume the treatment: the unit will resume the treatment from the point at which it was interrupted. To definitively end the treatment press STOP again: the treatment will be ended and the remaining time parameter will revert to the value shown in the Preset time parameter (see Fig. 10).

The body part to be treated must be covered with an abundant coating of contact "GEL" or cream (which enhances the sound conduction of the radiant energy). The operator must distribute the radiant energy by gently massaging the body part, i.e. by moving the radiating head over the part in order to attain an equal distribution of the energy dose.

CAUTION

For the correct outcome of the application, it is fundamental that the subject undergoing treatment tightly holds an earthing applicator (also called

mass or reference applicator) during treatment and that the same is as close as possible to the part to be treated.

STARTING A BODY TREATMENT

Press the function key relating to the BODY TREATMENT button (see fig. 5) to load the following screen (see fig. 13):

this page contains information on how to prepare the subject for treatment. Turn the Encoder knob clockwise to go to more windows containing information on how to proceed (see fig. 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19):

before but not during the treatment The value set as skin temperature is the temperature that will be reached on the part of the face subjected to treatment, while the treatment time is the time for which the selected treatment is intended to last. On the screens shown in fig. 20 and fig. 21 there is one boxes that show a series of dots before you press START: this is read-only value that cannot be edited by the operator.

DESCRIPTION OF UNIT

RENEW FACE & BODY is a radio frequency unit for aesthetic use which uses, inside the body, a 470 KHz frequency emission without causing sensory stimulation of the motor nerves or causing muscle contractions and discomfort. The biological effect of the heat produced by Radio Frequency waves on the skin consists in the denaturation of collagen fibres (5 to 20% of total fibres), which cause their immediate contraction and a progressive effect lasting for the following 4 to 6 months. As required by Van't Hoffs principle, any reaction whose speed depends on heat is accelerated by an increase in temperature. The increase in the metabolism depends directly on the increase in heat. The increased metabolism causes an increase in the demand for oxygen and nutrients and the production of catabolites and metabolites. The heating of the body parts subjected to treatment produces various results:

- Improvement and stimulation of local blood circulation - Reabsorption and drainage of liquids in excess - Reabsorption of local edemas (swellings) - Removal of fat deposits - Reduction of cellulite - Improvement of tissue elasticity

The unit for RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency for aesthetic use The RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency unit for aesthetic use is equipped with a control panel optimized for its specific field of application and for the functions for which the unit is intended. All operation parameters are controlled in real time by a sophisticated electronic microprocessor circuit and the functions are clearly shown on a backlit LCD display and indicated by specific sound signals.

POWER SUPPLY AND OUTPUT PANEL Figures 2 and 3, together with the respective meanings, show the panel containing the integrated power supply module (main switch, fuse box and connector for the network power cable) and the output connectors.

CAUTION

The connections between the applicators

and their respective connectors are compulsory: one applicator will not fit into

the others connector and vice versa.

ACCESSORIES The unit is compatible with the following supplied accessories:

The body applicator can be fitted with any of the inserts/electrodes supplied for body treatments. The face applicator can be fitted with the following supplied inserts/electrodes:

- 30mm diam. insert/electrode - 40mm diam. insert/electrode

for facial treatments. Both the body applicator and the face applicator are easy to connect: simply plug the applicator cable into the connector on the units back panel. Apply the metal plate to the body part opposite the part being treated. The plate is usually placed beneath the buttocks, the back or the thigh. Make sure the plate is in close contact with the subjects body: if the plate is too loose the subject might feel uncomfortable or warming on the corresponding body part. The earthing applicator is a handle that must be held tightly by the subject being treated; its use is recommended when carrying out facial treatments. The earthing applicator and the metal plates are easy to connect: simply plug the applicator cable into the connector on the units back panel.

UNIT SET-UP UNPACKING The RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency unit for aesthetic use comes packed in a box filled with packing filler and designed for easy storage and safe transportation. To unpack the unit, put the box on a flat, solid surface and remove the polystyrene top. Carefully take out the unit. The unit and its accessories are wrapped in protective sheets of transparent polyethylene. The packing also contains: Use Manual; n. 1 cable for network power supply; n. 2 spare fuses (see technical features).

Check the contents of the box. If any item is missing, immediately contact your authorized EME dealer.

CAUTION Do not discard the original packing : it will be necessary in case of return shipments.

The RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency unit for aesthetic use is simple to install and requires no special procedures. The recommended environmental features for installing RENEW FACE&BODY are the following: - ambient temperature: from +10C to +40C; - relative humidity: from 10% to 80%, with no condensate; - avoid exposure to direct sunlight, chemical products and vibrations.

CAUTION

Do not use RENEW FACE & BODY in places where it could get wet.

! WARNING !

RENEW FACE & BODY UNIT IS GUARANTEED TO WORK CORRECTLY,

RESPECTING THE INSTALLATION AND USE INSTRUCTIONS INDICATED, ONLY WITH THE USE OF ORIGINAL ACCESSORIES AND SPARE PARTS.

In case of problems or difficulties during installation

contact EME srl Customer Service.

CAUTION

Do not use accessories other than the ones provided: they might damage the unit, causing the warranty to become void.

The back of the unit is fitted with an integrated module for network power supply, consisting of a three-pole connector for the power cable, a removable fuse box with two fuses (see technical features) and a double-pole main switch. Connect the power cables three-pole female plug into the integrated module and make sure it is perfectly inside the connector.

! WARNING !

Before connecting the cable to the network plug, make sure the unit has not been damaged during transport and ensure the electric energy supply features

on the available current socket, satisfy the data on the plate, reported at the back of the unit.

! WARNING !

The electricity powering the unit is VERY DANGEROUS. Be sure the power cable is disconnected from the mains

before you connect or disconnect it from the connector on the unit.

! WARNING !

DO NOT INSTALL RENEW FACE & BODY unit close to heat sources or in direct sunlight.

! WARNING !

For safety reasons, the power cable is supplied with a plug with protective earthing.

Use only adequately grounded power sockets.

The unit must be connected only to power systems complying with safety regulations.

If any extensions are necessary, make sure they are provided with an efficient earthing protection conductor.

Failure to observe this recommendation may lead to the accidental electrocution of persons and affect the units operation.

CAUTION

If an extension is used between the RENEW FACE & BODY unit and other units, check that the total current absorption of the connected units does not exceed the maximum current allowed for that type of cable or however not higher than 15A.

Instructions for the installing environment The room where the unit will be installed must be: equipped with electric plant in compliance with the regulations in force

correctly screened and realised complying with safety regulations correctly identified at the entrance, with visual indications which highlight the type of units installed inside

This unit is not suitable for use with flammable liquids with air and oxygen or with nitrogen protoxide, do not install in such rooms.

exposed to rain, humidity, or where it might get wet.

For an ideal use of the unit and to guarantee the best performance, we recommend to correctly carry out maintenance in the times and with the prescribed methods.

NOTE

The ordinary maintenance must be carried out on the device before start up to verify its integrity and safety.

In particular, before start up it is necessary to:

check that the power supply cable is intact and connected to the electric network, visually examine the whole unit for any damages. Check there is no humidity near the device, particularly on the connectors. At the end of the treatment, switch off the unit and disconnect the power supply cable if the unit is not to be used immediately.

Should there be damages on the cable, replace it before start up

The RENEW FACE&BODY system correctly installed, in good maintenance state and used according to regulations, does not present dangers, neither for operator nor for the client during his therapeutic work.

Before using such system check the network voltage is 230 V, 50 Hz. Avoid placing objects on the unit. Avoid installing or leaving the system near sources of heat, or exposed to rain or humidity If any object should penetrate inside or liquid be poured on, immediately disconnect the unit from the network and have the specialised personnel check it, before using it again. Clean the external casing with a soft cloth, eventually slightly damp (not dripping) with water and neutral detergent or alcohol or products for furniture; do not use abrasive products or solvents. Do not, for any reason, open or disassemble the unit. Periodically check the state of the cable and plug, in case of wear, replace them.

Some verifications can be made by the personnel operating on the device, whereas others, more technical, must be carried out by trained personnel and authorised in writing by the manufacturer. To guarantee the safety and the correct functioning of the unit, respect the following maintenance program.

the periodic maintenance will have to be carried out exclusively at the manufacturer laboratory or by adequately trained personnel, and authorised in writing by the manufacturer.

Hygienisation mode The device must be hygienised periodically. Disconnect the power supply plug from the socket. Do not use compressed air or nebulising products; any dripping of any liquid can compromise the units functioning. In case of accidental liquid or foreign materials infiltration inside the casing, do not attempt to open the device to remove the penetrating material, but contact the technical assistance service and do not use the unit. Cleaning must be carried out using non abrasive materials dampened with non corrosive hygieniser products.

Work place and storage The device has been designed to function in an ideal environment, like: rooms set up for aesthetic use. Rooms with strong temperature changes, high humidity level, dripping of water or any other liquid, dusty atmosphere or polluted by chemical agents, materials or flammable gasses, are to be considered unsuitable both for the functioning and for the storing of the device. The unit can be used in the presence of other devices normally used in the above listed rooms. The use of the unit in rooms polluted by radio-frequencies, electro-magnetic fields (mobile telephones, etc.), ionising radiation, mechanical and/or sound vibrations and, anyhow, in the presence of devices not normally used in medical, physiotherapy and aesthetic environments and not provided with the electro-magnetic compatibility requisites, may cause anomalies to the device in question, making it dangerous for the operator and the client to use it.

Maintenance and controls The trials and testing carried out at our offices, represent the peculiar premise to satisfy the safety requirements of an electro-medical unit. To guarantee client and operators safety, the latter have to request the technical assistance service to periodically carry out safety checks and maintenance interventions on the units in their possession. According to the current standard, to obtain good reliability and efficiency, it is necessary to respect the following:

The installation, the set up, periodical checks or repairs are carried out by the manufacturer or personnel authorised by him; The electric plant is in compliance with the safety regulations; The unit is used according to the use manual (keep the manual in a safe place); The unit is used with the accessories supplied by the manufacturer.

Electric Safety

According to the current C.E.I. 62.5 standards, the safety, the reliability and the performance of the system can be guaranteed only if: Assembly, set up or repairs are carried out by the manufacturer or persons by him authorised. The electric plant of the room in which it is installed, is in compliance with the respective regulations. The unit is used in compliance with the use instructions. Measuring of the dispersion currents and resistance of the protection conductor and checking the integrity of the part connected to the network, is to be carried out every two years, according to the C.E.I. n.12764 dated November 1989 publication.

PERSONNEL TRAINING

The RENEW FACE & BODY unit should be used only by operators who have been professionally trained to carry out perfectly safe treatments.

MALFUNCTIONS The RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency units for aesthetic use have been designed and built applying advanced technology and high-quality components in order to ensure efficient and reliable continuous use. However, if any malfunction should occur, we recommend consulting the following guide before contacting an authorized service centre.

ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE

The RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency units for aesthetic use have been designed and built in compliance with European Directive 89/336/EEC on ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY with the purpose of providing a reasonable degree of protection against harmful interferences in homes or health centres. The EC marking on the unit guarantees the units conformity to the Directive. All the necessary tests and measures were carried out in EMEs Internal Lab for Tests, Measures and Trials (LPMC) and at specialized external centres. Upon request, customers have been allowed to view the EMC test reports on the companys premises. On the grounds of their operating principle, RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency units for aesthetic use produce an acceptable amount of radio frequency energy and have an adequate degree of immunity from radiating electromagnetic fields: In these conditions, no interferences can occur that are damaging for radio-electric communications, electromedical equipment used for monitoring, diagnostics, treatments and surgery, office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopiers, fax machines, etc., and for any other electric or electronic device used in those places, provided they comply with the EMC Directive on ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY. However, in order to prevent any possible interferences, radio frequency units should be used at a safe distance from critical life-monitoring devices and treatments carried out on subjects carrying pacemakers should be performed with caution.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The RENEW FACE & BODY radio frequency units for aesthetic use have been designed to have the smallest possible impact on the environment. Design criteria included minimizing waste, toxic materials, noise, undesired radiations and energy consumption. Particular efforts were put into optimizing the units performance for energy saving purposes.

This symbol means that the product should not be disposed of as household waste. When the time comes to discard the units, users should hand them over to collection centres for the recycling of electric and electronic equipment.

WARRANTY EME srl guarantees the quality of its units for a period of 24 months from the date of purchase, provided they are used in accordance with the instructions contained in this manual. During the warranty period, any faulty products will be repaired or replaced by the manufacturer at its own discretion. Units will not be replaced under any circumstances. The warranty does not cover malfunctions or damages caused by: inappropriate positioning, installation and set-up; improper use or use non conforming to the instructions contained in this manual; improper or inadequate maintenance performed by user; operation non conforming to the environmental requirements indicated for the product; unauthorized opening of external casings; unauthorized tampering and/or modifications; using non-original spare parts.

The warranty is effective free delivered at the establishment of EME srl. In case of return shipments follow the packing instructions below. Attach a copy of the purchase receipt. Insuring the shipment is recommended. We recommend consulting the chapters MAINTENANCE and MALFUNCTIONS before returning the unit because of suspected malfunctions. difficulties are often caused by inadequate maintenance or technical hitches that can be easily solved by the user. A simple phone call to EME srl Customer Service can provide effective help in identifying and solving problems.

CAUTION

Customers shall be responsible for damages caused by inadequate packing. When repacking, use the original packing material if possible.

Instructions for packing and returning the unit: disconnect the power cables and the cables connecting the applicators, etc.; carefully clean and disinfect all the parts and accessories that have been in contact with the subject.

For obvious sanitary reasons protecting the health of technical personnel (Directive concerning health in the workplace, Law no. 626 dated 19 Sept.1994), any devices considered hygienically unsafe will not be examined by the acceptance staff;
