Janina Freigang, M.Sc. has lived, studied and worked in seven different countries, obtained her B.A. in

International Relations Global Business in Los Angeles and Bilbao and subsequently completed her M.Sc. in European Business in London and Berlin. She is not only a

certified professional workshop trainer and entrepreneurship guest lecturer at ESCP Europe Business School, the University of Rostock and Charité Medical University but

also an experienced Experiential Learning Program developer and manager. People & Friends is the 3rd company Janina has founded and over the past four years, she has

been doing what she is most passionate about: creating unique and memorable learning experiences while sharing her knowledge and expertise in topics such as Team Building,

(Corporate) Entrepreneurship and Pitching/Presentation Skills.

Andreas Voss, M.A. obtained his B.A. in Business Administration and M.A. in Entrepreneurship in Hamburg. He has been accredited as a start-up coach and lecturer by the German Reconstruction Loan Corporation (KfW) and the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. Over the past ten years, Andreas has been an entrepreneurship guest lecturer at the Free University of Berlin, the University of Rostock, the Graduate School of Natural Sciences in Hanover as well as the Charité Medical University. As a serial entrepreneur, he has founded 10 companies with People & Friends as his most recent one. He is an experienced Experiential Learning Program developer and manager and with People & Friends he has achieved one of his life-time goals. Experiential Learning remote!

We give our entrepreneurship workshops remotely. They can be booked individually or as combinations with workshop modules that can consecutively build on each otherʼs content. All of our workshops can be tailored to a given group of participants, e.g. from students who donʼt know anything about entrepreneurship to more advanced entrepreneurs who already own a start-up. Our remote workshops are a combination of theoretical input, business case studies (where applicable) and highly interactive individual and group exercises.

After an initial overview of the Business Model Canvas, the students are introduced to the Personal Business Model Canvas, also called the Business Model You (BMY). The BMY puts the individual at its center and helps the students to realize what value they themselves can add to their workplace and community. After analyzing their personal strengths and weaknesses, the students create their own profile based on their talents, skills and personalities. They engage in a series of interactive exercises based on the BMY, which allow them to evaluate which career path may be most suitable for their professional and personal fulfillment. As a result, the students are able to use two state-of-the-art entrepreneurial tools, which will help them to define and cherish the value of their potential future businesses as well as their own value.

The students are introduced to several entrepreneurial tools and interactive exercises (individually and in teams), which will help them to think and act like entrepreneurs. They will understand the importance of developing a strong team, discover how they can manage their time efficiently and learn how they can create value and purpose in their professional and personal lives. Some of the state-of-the-art tools and methods they will learn feature the Golden Circle, the 6 Incredibles and the Eisenhower Matrix Reloaded.

Market and trend analysis

The students receive an overview of state-of-the-art tools that will allow them to develop business ideas and business models in line with market requirements. They have the opportunity to either work on a mini case study or use their own business ideas when engaging in a variety of individual and group exercises. These include an analysis of the internal and external current situation as well as trends in technology, society and the economy. The students will thereby understand that the success of a company is ultimately determined by the market and the competition for customers. Furthermore, they will learn how they can successfully position their start-up in their respective market.

Failing forward – the roadmap to success!

The students are introduced to a roadmap with which they can turn their business ideas into actual companies (start-ups). They will learn that there is no golden path to success but rather that systematically failing forward is the quickest - maybe even the best - approach to becoming a successful entrepreneur. In addition, the students will get an introduction to the most essential and effective entrepreneurial methods like Design Thinking, Business Model Canvas as well as the useful management approach called Effectuation. As a result, the students will be equipped with an entrepreneurial skillset that will allow them to found their own companies in the future.

Design Thinking

The students are introduced to a state-of-the-art problem-solving and creativity technique called Design Thinking. After receiving an overview of the five key Design Thinking steps (empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test), they can either work on their own business ideas or get to tackle a mini case study by applying some of these exact steps. The students engage in several Design Thinking exercises, such as creating a persona, effective brainstorming in a start-up team and paper/digital prototyping. As a result, the students will realize that Design Thinking can serve as an essential method used by successful entrepreneurs in order to develop holistic, customer-oriented and creative solutions that meet market demand.

Inside the box

The students embark on a creative learning experience, not outside but inside the box, during which they get introduced to state-of-the-art entrepreneurial tools and methods, such as Systematic Inventive Thinking (SIT). These tools will help them to develop revolutionary products and services and to define their customers. The students get to apply the SIT approach either to their own business ideas or to a given mini case study. Our participants learn about the importance of using patterns and templates in a systematic and structured way in order to generate a large variety of ideas. These can serve as potential solutions, products or services to revolutionize their markets.

Create opportunities

Visual Thinking

The students are introduced to a creative and extremely useful entrepreneurial method of visual collaboration (Visual Thinking or Systems Thinking) by engaging in a simple and fun exercise. Afterwards, they can either use their own business ideas or form small teams to receive a mini case study and apply one Visual Thinking framework called customer experience journey. This group exercise will help them to understand the positive outcomes the visualization technique can generate for real projects and challenges, not only within this workshop but also in their future careers.

> Introduction of Visual Thinking and miro (as a tool the students will work with during the remote workshop)> Individual and group exercises to understand the method> Create a user experience journey including 4 levels: - what does the customer see - what needs to be provided for a smooth customer experience - which of these steps do we carry out/which ones are outsourced - how do we divide up the tasks that need to be done in order for the customer to receive their product or service> Presentation of results and feedback> Wrap-up including key lessons

Business Model

Canvas

The students get an interactive introduction to the Business Model Canvas (BMC) to understand how they can create and change business models in order to adapt to current circumstances in the market. They can either work on their own business ideas with the BMC or become entrepreneurial consultants and receive 2 different business models (completed BMCs) of existing start-ups that have been impacted greatly by the COVID-19 crisis. Finally, they learn how they can effectively present business models (their BMC results) and thereby develop entrepreneurial presentation skills.

> Introduction of BMC and miro (as a tool the students will work with during the remote workshop)> Individual exercise to complete a BMC on their own> Group exercise – work on their own BMC/re-design the start-upsʻ business models to help them deal with the crisis> Introduction of entrepreneurial presentation skills> Presentation of results and feedback> Wrap-up including key lessons

Start-up pitching techniques

The students are introduced to various pitching techniques and thereby learn how they can effectively present their own business ideas, products or services. Besides examining the essential components that make up a great pitch, they learn how to create a pitch deck and become familiar with two additional entrepre-neurial methods called the "Story Spine" (also used by Disney and Pixar) and the Golden Circle. On the one hand, this will allow them to transform their business ideas and models into moving stories. On the other hand, they will be able to highlight their productʼs or serviceʼs unique selling propositions (USPs) and figure out their purpose, cause and belief – because people donʼt respond to what you do but WHY you do it.

> Introduction of pitching techniques – pitching with tools, pitching without tools, preparing a pitch deck> Making use of storytelling (Story Spine)> Starting with WHY, finding purpose (Golden Circle)> Practice elevator pitches and feedback > Wrap-up including key lessons

Start-up finance

The students receive an overview of different financing options that apply to the various phases a business goes through and understand that different ideas lead to different business models. These consequently require different methods of financing. Through a series of exercises, the students will realize that the financing of business start-ups highly depends on the goals, milestones and strategic orientations start-ups have defined for themselves. Furthermore, they are introduced to well-founded business and entrepreneurial financial and target planning, which will help them to independently compare their target and actual performance. As a result, the students are able to identify the most suitable financing possibilities they have for their own (future) ventures.

Agenda:

> Introduction to entrepreneurial financial planning profit and loss statement, liquidity plan, capital requirements plan, cash flow plan building different financial strategies based on your business (starting with 0 or 1 million in financial capital)> Introduction of entrepreneurial financing for social versus for-profit start-ups> Introduction of different sources of money and how to finance every project with: equity, debt, grant, loans, crowdfunding and financing > Introduction to an entrepreneurial controlling instrument - the break-even analysis - target and actual comparison - how to create your own controlling instrument that suits your - company and individual needs> Wrap-up including key lessons

Manage the

uncertainty

Agile Management

The students become familiar with the agile management approach, which empowers entrepreneurs to take on the growing dynamics and complexity of today's unpredictable markets. They are introduced to the four agile values and principles and learn about Effectuation as an agile method that helps entrepreneurs to make decisions when they find themselves in situations of uncertainty. By engaging in two group exercises, the students get to compare the more traditional business planning and agile management approaches. As a result, the students recognize that agile start-ups can remain capable of making decisions independent of external influencing factors.

> Introduction of two group exercises (one task, two approaches to develop solutions)> Presentation of results> Introduction of Agile Management > Overview of the four agile values and principles - people before processes and tools - responding to change instead of following a plan - working prototypes instead of excessive documentation - working with the customer before rigid contracts> Effectuation approach> Wrap-up including key lessons

Lean Management

The students are introduced to the Lean Management method, which helps start-ups to change the way they build their companies and launch new products. By analyzing an international case study, the students will discover the advantages of implementing lean structures and understand the meaning behind the “lean“ approach – going into the market as quickly as possible, learning what your customers really want and testing your vision, product or service continuously. As a result, the students will be equipped with a skill-set that will allow them to create lean structures in their own start-ups in order to effectively and flexibly adapt to todayʼs changing markets.
