What is Strides of Hope?A marathon training program organized

by Asha for Education-Austin chapter in

collaboration with Rogue Training Systems to:– Encourage people to take up running to get fit– Get runners together as a team, fostering stronger

community relations– Raise awareness and funds for educational projects

of Asha

What is Asha for Education?Asha is a non-profit 501c(3) organization with

– zero administrative overheads– no religious or political affiliations– ranked 1 in non-profits by Charity Navigator– over 40 chapters in the US that support over 300 educational

projects in India.

and is composed entirely of unpaid volunteers.

Mission statement:

To catalyze socio-economic change in India

through education of underprivileged children.

Strides of Hope – The Training Program

• The program is designed to train (primarily first time) runners to successfully complete a full or half marathon in Austin.

• Coach Steve Sisson, Director, Rogue Training Systems, is coordinating the training program

• The group runs every week at various locations in Austin

• Asha & RunTex provide logistical support during the group runs

Strides of Hope – Fundraising• Each (team Asha) runner gets a dedicated webpage on

the Strides of Hope website. • The runners use the webpage to put up their motivation

behind running a marathon, their fundraising and running progress and other personal reflections

• They forward this webpage to their family, friends and coworkers and raise funds towards the cause

• In the last two years team asha has had 32 runners who have raised over $80,000.

All proceeds will go directly towards educational projects

• Sponsorship to cover the race registration of the Motive Half-Marathon for Team Asha runners.
