TELUS Innovation Award

• 3-phase competition:

• 1: local competition / selection

• 2: (national) paper evaluation (= short list)

• 3: (national) finalists invited - live presentation

• Operation and logistics:

• Promoted through SBs, SBCs and Sections

• Judges recruited through Area Chairs, Sections and from TELUS (for final)

• Finals usually run with Student Congress

• Up to 9 teams in final presentations

• $10,000; $5,000; $2,000; 6 X $500 !!

• Intended to reward innovation and hard work

• Purposes:• Enhance and support the learning experience of IEEE

Student members

• Encourage membership, focus IEEE activities, interaction…

• Operation:• Operated by Student Branch

• Funded by IEEE Canada Foundation

• Tool for SBs to maintain and increase membership:

• Highlights benefits for current and potential members

• Identifies with student needs and concerns

• Distribute and promote at Regional Student Congress

• Piggyback on IEEE Journal printing• Very cost effective!
