The life of the parish will only continue to grow when all of us work together to endeavour to build on the achievements of the past, the plans for our present and the dreams for our future. We have a new Mission Statement that will be on display in each of our Churches as well as at the bottom of this page for your perusal. The five areas from our 2017 Parish Assembly that were the Teams’ focus were: 1. Community Life with a sense of hospitality as a priority. It is time for us to build upon our commit- ment of being a welcoming and inclusive community where we reach out to one another. Team Welcomers at masses who physically welcome and lead uncertain people to seats in the Church. This is important for us as a Community of faith. 2. Liturgy is also important and already involves ‘Light and Presence’ prayer times, as well as the many other Liturgies and prayer groups that fill our Churches. Times and places are advertised in the Newsletter each week. It is also important for us to build upon our gifted and talented music ministry and endeavour to draw other musicians and singers into full and active participation in our Masses. This will also include train- ing for the power -point ministry so necessary for our Churches. 3. Youth and Children’s Ministry has begun through the work that Florence had covered in the past few months, and so from there we continue to build the life and ministry of young people in our midst. 4. Faith Formation is an on -going activity through the many events that the parish provides:- ALPHA; Living Biblically; Lenten Journey and so many other events that fill our lives with faith education. There is a plan into the future. ’Divine Renovation” is a wonderful book and process of faith development coming from Can- ada. On five Sundays through the year, for 15 minutes each time, we will experience some information from Fr James Mallon, the instigator of Divine Renovation. Watch for the dates. 5. Finally, we are not alone in the world, and so Social Justice and Outreach is also going to be a focus for us into the future. Our Team will investigate the needs of our own parish where we can reach out and serve and also the wider community that may benefit from our presence in the world. What can we do, and who will be involved. Watch this space! God Bless Fr John Gathering Hymn: 416 Lift up hearts Psalm Response : R. Lord, it is good to give thanks to you. Mission Statement

We the Catholic Communities of Regents Park Parish, guided by the Holy Spirit; commit to building a welcoming, inclusive, faith centred community grounded upon the Gospel values of leadership and service.

Statement from Archbishop Mark Coleridge - “The news of Cardinal George Pell’s conviction on historical child sexual abuse charges has shocked many across Australia and around the world, including the Catholic Bishops of Australia. The Bishops agree that everyone should be equal under the law, and we respect the Australian legal system. The same legal system that delivered the verdict will consider the appeal that the Cardinal’s legal team has lodged. Our hope, at all times, is that through this process, justice will be served.

In the meantime, we pray for all those who have been abused and their loved ones, and we commit ourselves anew to doing everything possible to ensure that the Church is a safe place for all, especially the young and the vulnerable.”
