Personalized SAT® Practice Through
Khan Academy
![Page 14: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
► Students were able to link their College Board and Khan Academy
accounts when they received their PSAT/NMSQT results.
► Linking a student’s accounts will further personalize practice:
the practice recommendations on Khan Academy will be based
on the student’s PSAT/NMSQT results
► All future scores from the SAT Suite of Assessments will also be sent to
help customize a student’s practice and recommendations on
Khan Academy.
► Students will be able to jump right into practice without having to
take any additional diagnostic quizzes or practice tests to get
personalized recommendations.

Getting Ready to Receive Scores
![Page 18: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
► Finalize processes requiring concordance during transition.
Updating Policies & Procedures
Activities Stakeholders Affected
• Examine/update policies and
protocols that use concorded scores:
• Comparing scores
• Setting policies
• Developing predictive models
• Reporting
• Validate and test all necessary
processes step-by-step
• Admissions staff
• Financial Aid and Scholarships
• State or system programs
• Enrollment consultants
• Contractors
• Application Readers
• Institutional Research
![Page 19: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
► Compare scores on the redesigned SAT to pre-March 2016 SAT
or ACT scores.
► Determine a policy score on the redesigned SAT that is
comparable to a pre-March 2016 SAT policy score.
► Convert a redesigned SAT score to a pre-March 2016 SAT score
for use in a predictive model or index.
► Compute comparable scores to use in internal and external
reports.
Concordance Uses
![Page 20: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)

Three Levels of Concordance
![Page 22: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
When to Use This Concordance
► Use this concordance for tasks currently completed using an SAT Score
Total based on Critical Reading + Math.
EXAMPLE:
Use Total to Total for a program where a grade point average of 3.0 and 1040
(out of 1600) on the pre-March 2016 SAT meets a sliding scale for admission
without further review.
► Planned tables will include:
► 1600 to 1600 tables (looking at just the Critical Reading and Math scores on
the pre-March 2016 SAT and including ACT)
► 2400 to 1600 tables (and vice versa, including ACT)
Using Total to Total Tables
![Page 23: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
When to Use This Concordance
► Use this concordance for tasks currently completed using the score
from one single section of the pre-March 2016 SAT.
EXAMPLE:
Use Section to Section for placement into an honors math course that requires a
score of 600 or higher on the Math section of the pre-March 2016 SAT.
► Planned tables will include:
► Critical Reading + Writing to Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (and vice
versa)
► Math to Math Section (and vice versa)
25
Using Section to Section Tables
![Page 24: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
When to Use This Concordance
► Use this concordance for tasks currently completed using the score from just one section of the pre-March 2016 SAT.
EXAMPLE:
Students with pre-March 2016 SAT Critical Reading scores below 550 are required to take a placement test before enrolling. Use Section to Test table for:
pre-March 2016 SAT Critical Reading Section → new SAT Reading Test
► Planned tables will include:
► Critical Reading to Reading Test (and vice versa)
► Writing to Writing and Language Test (and vice versa, including ACT)
► Math to Math Test (and vice versa)
Using Section to Test Tables
![Page 25: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Smartphone Apps
iPhone and Android apps — provide
the same functionality as the old score
conversion slider.
Web
Provides the same functionality as
the apps, enabling users to make
score-to-score conversions.
Large-Scale Concordance
Higher education institutions may also
need tools to convert large numbers of
scores quickly.
How will we use concorded scores
most easily?
![Page 26: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
► Communicate to students, families, and counselors:
► Articulate admission and placement policy changes
► Clarify whether you will require or recommend SAT essay for admission
► Ensure you have updated materials
► Reassure students both pre-March 2016 and new SAT are acceptable
► Let the College Board know about policy changes (i.e., SAT essay policy)
► Communicate to campus stakeholders:
► Ensure that all necessary individuals and groups on campus have the
information they need in advance of receiving the new scores.
Higher Ed: Communication Is Key

► Search will require you to submit score range criteria using new PSAT & SAT
score ranges
► Search will use concordance tables to concord backwards to find all
PSAT/SAT takers, new and old
► Copied orders will require you to submit score range criteria
► Search website will have all concordance tables available for viewing and

The SAT & the University of Utah
SAT scores make up about 18% (603) of the scores sent to the University of Utah
SAT usage at the U • Admissions (one factor in our holistic
review process) • Scholarships • Course placement (math and writing)
![Page 35: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
The New SAT & the University of Utah Current status
• Focusing on ensuring the scores load properly into our SIS
• Waiting on concordance tables for most decisions to be made
• Will continue to accept the old and new SAT • Don’t require the essay and will not into the
foreseeable future Future changes
• Will likely take at least year to see what the new SAT means for the U
• Heavy reliance on concordance tables through the first year
• Need for institutional analysis on student performance with old and new SAT
![Page 36: Redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments: Scoring and Reports](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022021416/587361cc1a28abe7648b5cbf/html5/thumbnails/36.jpg)

A: An access code needed only if name, address, DOB on account do not match (College
Board account and information from Student Questionnaire)
Q: My student is logged in, but is NOT seeing his or her scores?
A: Student may need to “Add Scores” from other assessments or initiate a “Score Match”
