The reason for this is we are now tracking the attendance of our members, not to give you a gold star for perfect attendance or to scold you if you miss a service or two, but it has been shown that if a member misses four weeks in a row the possibility for that member to drop from the church increases greatly. We need all of you to be with Redeemer. So with this tracking system, we can review it to see if someone has been missing for several weeks in a row and give them a call to say we miss you and hope to see you next Sunday or Monday. And, maybe there is another issue in the member's life that we can help them with. So, please fill out those cards and pass them to the end of the pew. Welcome to Redeemer Lutheran!

We are a diverse community of people always learning what it means to live a life of discipleship.

We are Lutheran (ELCA); we are Republican, Democrat, and Independent; we live across the

street, around the corner, in the Hartford area, and in the nearby countryside. We work in schools, factories, offices, fields, and hospitals. We are

laborers, students, retired, and unemployed. We range in age from the newly born to seniors. We

come from backgrounds of Catholic and Protestant while some are discovering church for the first time.

We come together with our joys and sorrows, our faith, and our doubts. When we worship together, sing together, study the Bible together, fellowship

together – we love and support one another to become one body of Christ. No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey…

You are Welcome Here!

Seeds of Ministry

In today's Gospel reading from Matthew Jesus is born in a stable - Emmanuel, God with us. Think of the symbolism of that birth that this child who is born in the flesh (real body), dies, and is resurrected from the dead. Imagine the wood of

the manger is also the wood of the cross. That event for which we have been preparing ourselves through Advent is,

yes, a birth, but a birth that will also be a death, and the transformation, the radical transfiguration of birth and

death. We have been preparing ourselves for the cross, for the whole incarnation and not just one moment of birth. God

is with us!

Look for the Flower Chart in the Information Area and sign up to place real flowers on the shelves on either side of the altar. You may:

Order flowers at the flower shop of your choice.

Make up your own arrangements.

Have the office place your order with Black’s Flower Shop. ($50.00 for both sides of the altar)

Let the office know what you want published in the bulletin - in honor or in memory of someone or some occasion (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) Thank you!

Sunday Forum - In conjunction with the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, which began on October 31, 1517 when Martin Luther nailed 95 Theses to the church door at Wittenberg, we will be studying and discussing Luther, the Reformation, the history of Lutheranism, and Lutherans in the world today through 2017. Adult Forum meets weekly between services at 9:15. Forum is open to all interested members and guests. Please join us and add to our study and discussion. NOTE: Forum will not meet on Christmas Day, December 25th, or New Years Day, January 1st. Sessions will resume on January 8th .

December Special Giving is for Family Promise of Washington County. Please read below about there mission or check out there web site. They do a great job in our area giving families a hand up. Family Promise helps homeless and low-income families in Washington County achieve sustainable independence. We recognize that poverty is a multifaceted problem that requires a multifaceted response from the community. We provide food, shelter, and support services for homeless families through the hands-on work of our many volunteers. We provide advice and advocacy for at-risk families to prevent their becoming homeless. And we educate people about poverty and the means to combat it.”

28th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS COOKIE FAIR

A HUGE SUCCESS!

We broke all records...served almost 150 customers. Thank you to everyone who helped make this another successful Cookie Fair: Stollen bakers, Christmas Cookie Bakers, Candy Makers, Cheeseball Makers, Set-up People, Callers, Workers on Friday and Saturday and Sign

Makers. We cannot do this without the help of many, many people. We had many compliments on the quality and variety of cookies and candy. Proceeds from the sale along with some late sales totaled $5,000.00. Our net after expenses are paid

will be around $3,500.00. 76% will be tithed to and shared by Lutheran Social Services Transition II which is for treatment

of victims caught in the web of human trafficking , and the 1022 Club here in Hartford, an adult day services program

that is designed to promote independence in the elderly and deter the need for nursing home placement.
