We thank you for your support and look forward to an enjoyable Eisteddfod. J. STUPEL (MS) AND N. NORMAN (MISS) – DRAMA TEACHERS

Foundation Phase Sports Results as Reported Back by Students in Assembly HOCKEY (GIRLS) as reported back by Georgia Maw and Erin Lawley On Saturday the 9th of May the U8 girls played against Somerset College. We found playing on grass

a challenge as we are so lucky to have our practices on astro-turf. Both matches were challenging

and Somerset College took the lead. Even though we lost, we enjoyed playing in the Derby Day.

Last week Thursday our u9 A, B and C teams played an away match against Rustenberg Girls. The

weather was chilly and even with some light rain, the girls were determined and enthusiastic. All

three teams played good hockey. Our u9B and u9C girls had close matches and showed much

improvement but lost in the end. Special congratulations to the u9A team who beat Rustenberg 7-0.

They can be very proud of their excellent passing.

HOCKEY (BOYS) as reported back by Fletcher Smythe-Lowe On Saturday the 9th of May the U8 boys played against Somerset College. They were our first

matches of the year. We tried our best and we won one match. Somerset College won the others.

We learnt a lot, had fun and enjoyed playing in the Derby Day.

RUGBY as reported back by John Bos and Tye Stewart On Saturday the 23rd of May, the U9 B rugby team played a match against Fish Hoek. We played so well winning the match 4-2. We had loads of fun, played as a team and made Reddam proud with our good manners and respect towards our coaches. The u9 A team also played a match against Fish Hoek on the 23rd of May. This squads confidence is

growing and we are delighted that our tackling and handling skills are paying off, resulting in an outstanding win of 4-0. Well done to all the rugby players! NETBALL as reported back by Tannah Wannerton-Brown On Wednesday the 20th of May, the three Under 8 netball teams played fun matches against Fish Hoek Primary School at Reddam House. The matches were very exciting with all teams playing extremely well. The Jellytots won 3-1, the Smarties lost 3-2 and the Crunchies won 3-1. Well done to all the girls!

Equestrian Congratulations to Daniel Moore and Seahunter on being invited to ride in the Western Cape Open Showing Team in the position of Show Hunter. This is the highest level attainable for a pony rider. They will travel to Pietermaritzburg at the end of June to compete against the rest of the country. Holly Hayward and Fanta had a fun and successful eventing weekend in George. They had an excellent dressage test scoring 68% and a clear show jumping and cross country round, which resulted in her being placed 1st. Well done, Holly!

SARDA – support!

Do you love horses and horse riding?

We want to support SARDA (South African Riding Association for the Disabled) at Sleepy Hollow, Noordhoek.

They create opportunities for children to interact with horses.

They rely heavily on volunteers and public funds.

Many Reddam families enjoy horses and we are asking for your assistance.

We are making “mini-noshbags” to sell as lucky packets at school.

Donations of packets of wrapped sweets or chocolates can be dropped off at reception during next week.

If you would like to donate any tack that

SARDA could use, please contact Ms. Candice De Villiers directly ([email protected])

You can also participate in our Reddam Riders Photo Display by collect a display form from Mrs Thompson or reception, paste a photo of you and your horse and we will display them in the library.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and enthusiasm.

Reddam Knit-a-Bit

Join the knitting frenzy that is sweeping the Reddam community. The Grade 6 Moral students are spearheading an initiative to knit squares and create blankets ahead of the cold weather that is approaching. All you need is a ball of double knit wool and size 5 needles. Cast on 40 stitches and knit till you have a square! Join our Facebook community to follow the path from thread and stitches to beautiful blankets.

Best wishes

Yours sincerely ANNETTE WOOLLEY (MRS) HEADMISTRESS

Bread Reminder – Westlake Emmanuel Educare School We would very much appreciate our families assisting us in the following charity drive to assist the Westlake Emmanuel Educare School on our doorstep. The principal of the school, Ms Eleanor Lawrence, would be most grateful if every week we assist with the supply of white and brown sliced bread loaves. Every Tuesday this term each Grade will have a turn to supply bread. The bread must be taken to the classrooms and will then be delivered by Mrs Elliot-Jones to this deserving school. Ms Lawrence then freezes the bread to use daily until the fresh bread arrives the following week. It would be wonderful if you feel you would like to add a container of Peanut Butter, Marmite, Jam or Anchovette. We thank you in advance for your kind assistance. The roster will be as follows:
