Carbo Stop stops your body from absorbing carbohydrates from the food that you eat and Fat-Stop stops
your body from absorbing fat from the food that you eat. These two products can be used in two ways: To
speedup the rateatwhich you loseweight.Research has shown that if these two products are taken with
the Turbo Trim weight Loss Program, they will almost double the rate at which you lose weight because
even if you are sticking to a healthy way of eating, there are still a certain amount of fat and carbohydrate
in the food that you eat, so taking the Fat-Stop and Carbo-Stop will ensure that you absorb even less from
your food and lose even faster. To prevent picking up weight again. We all know that even with the best
intentions, most people are likely to have periods when they go overboard and eat food that is too high in
fats or carbohydrates. All you do is take a few extra Fat-Stop and/or Carbo-Stop before eating pizza,
chocolates or going to a party and you can get away with 'cheating' and not pick up weight. These two
products are your 'insurance program' to ensure that you never pick up weight ever again!!
Shrink Kit - This targets the areas on the outside, where you want to lose
centimetres and cellulite and consists of four products: 1)The Shrink Wrap
Cream is applied once or twice a week with the 2)Shrink Wrap and gives
immediate centimetre loss 3)The Shrink Cream continues the process started by
the Shrink Wrap Cream and Shrink Wrap to break down cellulite, helps with
detoxification, rids you of that ‘hail-damage' appearance and give you back your
smooth, silky skin 4) Cellu-Magic This anti-cellulite capsule ensures that you
burn up the cellulite from the inside. It burns up trapped cellulite cells and helps
to detoxify your system and rids your body of accumulated wastes, toxin and
excess water.

Residents in Rotherfield and South roads claim that opportunistic criminals are using the opportunity to steal metal from vacant plots whichbelong to the City of Cape Town. This property is in the process of being demolished to make way for the MyCiTi route. PHOTO: SUPPLIED

Metal theft problemsASTRID FEBRUARIE
@FebAstrid
Residents affected by the MyCiTi demo-litions taking place in RotherfieldRoad, Plumstead claim there has been
a spate of metal theft. The metal is apparently being stolen off
the property marked for demolition by theCity of Cape Town.Residents of South Road say they too have
experienced this.However,Warrant officerKeithChandler,
spokesperson of Diep River police, says onlytwo cases have been reported, but has beendirectly linked to the scrap being removedfrom the homes which are being demol-ished.“Weare awareof this, but theyare isolated
incidents and nothing has been reportedmissing or stolen from residents who live inadjacent properties,” he says.Chandler says construction workers
claim that once they remove the scrap fromthe rubble as the demolitions take place thescrap metal is removed by “people walkingby”.He says residents who do feel vulnerable
or see any suspicious behaviour on the prop-erties are urged to call the Diep River PoliceStation. However, Mayoral Committee Member
for Safety and Security JP Smith says theCity’s Metals Theft Unit is aware of vandal-ism and theft of drain covers and fire hy-drants in the Plumstead area, but has norecord of complaints for the street in ques-tion.“The City’sMetals Theft Unit relies on the
public to report such incidents or to comeforward with information that could assistin tracking down those responsible,” hesays.South Road Family Association spokes-
person Clive Muller says the demolitionshave left many families feeling vulnerable.“People who live directly opposite or be-
hind the properties are no longer feelingsafe. They see people coming in and out ofthe vacant City-owned properties at alltimes of the evening,” he says.Muller says one resident has called him in
the early hours of the morning to report see-
ing people walking onto a vacant plots without any itemsand then laterwalkingoffwith“stolen goods”.“This has created panic and uncertainty
among residents who fear that their ownhomes will be the next target,” he saysMuller adds that the rubble left behind on
the plots could “easily be used as a hideout
for opportunistic criminals”.“The rubble can obscure residents’ view
as they walk down South Road and if some-one had to attack them theywould be caughtoff-guard,” he says.Ian Neilson, Mayoral Committee Member
for Finance, says the City has not receivedcomplaints regarding theft from its premis-
es. “Vacant properties in the area that areowned by the City of Cape Town have 24-hour guards securing the premises,” hesays. The Metals Theft Unit can be contacted at
080 022 2771 or landline 021 400 2828 for com-plaints related to the theft of City-ownedma-terials.

Home birth explainedMONIQUE DUVAL
@monique_duval
You’ re pregnant. For many women thesetwo words could send shock wavesthroughout their bodies.
While some may be happy and ready to be-come a mom, others may feel anxious andworried. With a flurry of emotions – whetheryou are happy or sad, excited or anxious – allpregnant women will have to figure out abirth plan. But as medical costs continue to rise, many
women are exploring their options includinghaving their babies at home.Later this week a group of expectingmoms,
coupled with midwives, birth experts andpartnerswill gather inMuizenberg to discussissues around home birthing. The informalevent will be hosted by Home Birth South Af-rica in Muizenberg.
Early beginningsIn 2010, while working as doulas Lana Pe-
tersen and Ruth Ehrhardt became frustratedwith not being able to provide information onhome births to expecting moms.A doula is a woman who offers continual
emotional and physical support to a labou-ring woman (and her partner).Together theydecided to starthostinghome
birth gatherings where doulas, midwives andinterested parties sat together and sharedtheir stories. Home Birth South Africa wasformed and awebsite with everything expect-ing parents need to know created. Here women share their stories and photo-
graphs of home birth.
MisconceptionsSafety, cleanliness and complications are
some of the main issues faced by Home Birth
South Africa.Petersen explains despite a long history
of home births across the world, with mod-ern-day medical procedures, many stillperceived giving birth to be a medical pro-cedure.She says birth is a natural physiological
process and only requires medical inter-vention when there are complications.Petersen explains in preparation for a
home birth, the first step is for the motherto pick a caregiver.“The midwife will then ensure the moth-
er visits the hospital to ensure that a natu-ral home birth is safe and there are no com-plications.”Throughout the pregnancy, the caregiv-
er conducts regular check-ups and helpsprepare women accordingly. “Midwivesare highly skilled and trained. They alsowork with back-up hospitals so in the caseof emergency they are equipped to assist.”
ChoicePetersen says the gatherings are held to
help expecting parents explore their op-tions.
She explainswhile theydonot try and con-vince moms to take the home birth option, they aim to provide all the necessary infor-mation to ensure parents choose a birth planthat suits them.“The one advantage is that because it’s
your home, you are not bound by hospitalprotocols. Here themom can decide who shewants to have around her and she is not sur-rounded by strangers,” she adds. The gathering will take place on Sunday
1 March at 18 Axminster Road, Muizenbergfrom 14:00 to 16:00.The gathering is aimed at those who have
given birth at home, for those who havewanted home births, for those who are plan-ning a home birth or are thinking about itor are just curious. It is also for those whose home births did
not go as they had wished. Midwives anddoulas are also welcome.Entry is R60 per person or R100 for two
people.V For more information visit www.homebirth.org.za orcall Ruth on 078 557 9070 or email ruth@homebirth.org.za or call Lana on 073 514 9754 or email birth[email protected].

New hi-tech lab at academyASTRID FEBRUARIE
@FebAstrid
“Learning from the ground up.” Thisis the main aim of new project to belaunched at a school in Constantia.
The Cape Academy for Maths, Science andTechnology (Camst) is currently working onlaunching their Science, Technology, Robot-ics, Engineering, Aviation and Maths(Stream) lab which will be launched on Sat-urday 7 March.
The lab boasts projects done by pupilsacross various subjects including robotics, lego and engineering as well as an aeroplanewhich is currently being transformed intoa simulator.
The simulator, also know as Tommy, forms the bigger part of the lab which is afirst for the school. Pupils who participatein the aviation programme currently haveto go to other facilities to do their practicals. Now they will not have to go any furtherthan their school laboratory.
The aeroplane, a Tomahawk, was pur-chased and donated to the school by SouthAfrican pilot Fatima Jakoet who is the di-rector of Sakhikamva Foundation.
The foundation is an aviation awarenessorganisation focusing on the development ofyoung South Africans.
“We want to empower young people tostrive for their dreams and goals. Throughthe organisation we want to make it possiblefor each and every child to have an opportu-nity to fulfil their dreams,” she says.
Although the aeroplane is not in a condi-tion to be flown, pupils will experience whatit is like to be in a cockpit and in control ofthe functions.
“The aeroplane will be fitted with all the
control functions aswell as in future if possi-ble add a feature which will make it moveto create the feeling that they are actuallyin the air flying the aeroplane,” Jakoet says.
Pupils will spend the next few weeks as-sembling the pieces of the plane and will beassisted by professionals which include en-gineers, IT technicians and aviation profes-sionals. “This lab is one of a kind in theworld and we are honoured to open it at thisschool which hosts children of various back-grounds,” Jakoet adds.
Teacher Yusuf Sadar says the aviationprogramme gives children from disadvan-taged backgrounds the opportunity to en-gage with people from all walks of life whoencourage them to be in control of their fu-tures. “We are excited about this new chap-ter and look forward to making use of thelab daily. The lab will play a very integralrole in the studies of each pupil. We aim toincorporate each subject studied at theschool into the lab as we want all the pupilsto make use if it,” he says.V Call 021 794 5104 for more details. HOUT BAY
Mugger stabswomanA foreign diplomat was robbed and
stabbed while out for a walk on HoutBay Beach.
The incident occurred on Wednesday 18February when the victim and her Swedishvisitors were walking along the beach about16:30.The victim and her visitors were ap-
proached by an unknown man who grabbedthe woman’s handbag.Warrant Officer Lesch says the ambassa-
dor resisted and the suspect took a knife andstabbed her in her right arm and left shoul-der.“The victim’s husband chased after the
suspect during which he then dropped thehandbag and disappeared into the bushes,”Lesch says. The victim received medical attention. Her purse, keys and diplomatic ID were
not recovered. A case of robbery is being in-vestigated.Lesch says police are following up on all
leads and says no arrests have yet beenmade. She adds that the suspect was wearing a
straw hat, short sleeve shirt and long beigetrousers. He is estimated to be about 20 years old.Meanwhile, Hout Bay police are urging
residents to only put out their wheelie binswhen it is necessary as it could help reducethe risk of it being stolen.Lesch says police can’t tackle this problem
effectively without the help of residents.“Placing your bin out on the street only
when necessary and bringing it in as soon
as possible after collection can reduce thelikelihood of bins being stolen,” she ex-plains.Lesch warns that people who persistently
leave their bins out outside of the (rubbishcollection) time frame stand the risk of thebin either being lost or stolen.“We encourage people to join forces with
their neighbours and help each other out inbringing in or taking out wheelie bins,” sheurges.“By encouraging people to take better care
of the times they put out their wheelie bins,we are helping reduce the theft of bins andother related crimes being committed on bindays.”However, Lesch says, police will actively
pursue prosecutions of people who stealwheelie bins.“We aim to sensitise the community about
the issues of wheelie bins being stolen andhow to reduce the problem,” continuesLesch. She adds that marking of your bin is also
very important in the event police appre-hend a suspect in possession of a wheeliebin, the owner can then be identified and thesuspect can be linked to the crime. However, this can only be done if the bin
is marked with a street number and streetname.“We have extra patrols dedicated to polic-

Thanks for excellent public serviceI am writing with great happiness andappreciation for the wonderful publicservice which a few City traffic officersand members of the Flying Squadperformed on Thursday 29 January.I was attending a church service in
Mitchell’s Plain about 21:00 when Ireceived a call that my daughter’s carbroke down on the notorious R300.One cannot help but think of the
recent dangerous incidents, wheremotorists were attacked while being onthis national road.It is actually a sad state of affairs that
this beautiful piece of road has becomeso dangerous for motorists. We dependon this road to earn our bread. My wife logged a call with the emer-
gency services, and I am happy to reportthat the City of Cape Town’s trafficservices and the flying squad respondedalmost immediately. My family and Iwere happy for this good public servicerendered, as our daughter was alone –far from where we were at that time. Iam aware this is their job and what they
are trained to do.As a fellow public servant I have great
appreciation for the men and women inblue who sometimes place themselves atrisk to come to the aid of others in need. There may be many who do not
appreciate the emergency services, particularly the police and law enforce-ment fraternity, but for me and myfamily, we are very appreciative of thiskind deed they performed for our daugh-ter.I am aware we cannot reward them for
doing their duty, but we want to recog-nise them for the great selfless work theydo, while serving others in the field. As a taxpayer, it makes me proud to
see that our taxes are being put to gooduse, when the emergency servicesrespond to even minor requests from thepublic.I want to acknowledge a few officers in
particular who stayed with my daughteruntil the towing company arrived totransport her home. Her safety was ourmain concern and that was all that
mattered to us.Our daughter sometimes has to work
late and we feel much more relaxed nowthat we know there are traffic officersand police officers patrolling the R300and can respond in cases of emergency. As a family we want to recognise
Sergeant Clifton Botha, Constable Chris-topher Ludick, Constable Leon April,Traffic Officer Lorenzo Lackay andTraffic Officer Glen Oppel. These officers also ensured that the
traffic flow was unhindered and safe forall when the car was recovered by thebreakdown truck. The whole activity was a success
because of their help.Thank you once again and keep up the
good work. You make us proud to beSouth Africans. We wish these officers well in their
future career development within in theSA public service.

Last week a Cape Townmusician had his sax-ophone stolen. But in just a few days, the beloved instru-
ment was safely returned. After discovering that his sax had been stolen
from his car, Nick Becker took to Facebook. He urged people to be on the lookout for the
instrument which had quite literally taken himacross the world. His post, along with his offer of a substantial
reward, went viral andwithin four days anothermusician called him to say he’d found it.Despite Nick’s insistence, he wasn’t prepared
to take the reward.Jai Reddy came across someone trying to sell
the saxophone in theCBDand recognised it fromNick’s Facebook post.He bought it, and then gave Nick a call.Theft is in some sense a part of life for many
South Africans. But what makes this story so heartwarming
is the fact that the Cape Town music fraternity, along with non-musical folk, pulled together toget this man’s sax back.Everybody involved in the search simply had
to click “share”.Just one click made the world of difference in
making sure someone would recognise the sto-len instrument.Apart from the lesson around the power of Fa-
cebook, the bigger lesson here is the power ofcommunity andwhat we can do if we all contrib-ute just a little bit.As American historian and social activist
HowardZinn once said: “Small acts,whenmulti-plied by millions of people, can transform theworld.”

Inbetween the grains of history, capturedin rock and sand, the next generation isbuilding their future. The Chavonnes BatteryMuseum is train-
ing young students from disadvantagedcommunities, giving themthe skills toworkin the tourism industry. The V&A Waterfront Historical Walking
Tour takes visitors back to a time of exilesand explorers, in the race to commercialisethe seas and own the rights to exotic im-ports.
DefensiveThe battery, a fort to defend the bay from
attack, was built almost half a century afterthe Castle of Good Hope.It boasted numerous canons, which could
fire a range of artillery, and commanded aposition that made it impossible for shipsto pass unnoticed. But in 1860, when construction of the Al-
fred Basin began, part of the battery – in-cluding the left side-wall – was totally de-molishedand the stone re-used in construct-ing the new docks. The rest vanished beneath warehouses
and later a fish-processing factory.In 2000, during constructionof anewhead
office for the Board of Executors in theClock Tower Precinct of the V&A Water-front, the remains of the battery werefound.Today, what is left of the walls have been
carefully preserved inside and outside themuseum.Explaining the first centuries of the Cape
has seen tour guides incorporating historyfrom their own cultures, which is deliveredin their native tongue.
Giving backAnd making sure this history is passed
forward, the museum takes in youth, in-terns and graduates in tourism and eventmanagement for a six-month training pro-gramme offering them valuable work expe-rience with the aim of facilitating place-ment of them in the industry, explains
Chavonnes BatteryMuseum business exec-utive Dale Dodgen.“Our entire purpose is to serve the com-
munity by providing work experience foryouth. All our income is invested in youthdevelopment, not just a portion of it,” shesaysSome of the school visits are funded to en-
sure pupils from previously disadvantagedcommunities are able to visit the museumand see people from their own communitiesactively involved in running the museumand tour guiding, Dodgen says.“We hope this will be an inspiration for
them and their future. Pupils also get to ex-perience the history of Cape Town in theirown language,” she says.
Heritage siteThe museum is a heritage site and de-
tailedmodels depict Cape Town and the bat-tery in its heyday.Visitors can explore the 17th and 18th cen-
tury Cape Town and a selection of muzzle-loading cannon, surrounded by the sandthatwould have covered the shore 300 yearsago. It’s a tangible connection to our history,
according to Dodgen.“It gives me shivers ... 300 years ago,
someone was standing here. Who werethey? What happened to them?” she says. But bringing local feet through the door
remains a huge challenge, Dodgen says.“Ourbiggest challenge is to getmore local
visitors to the museum and people to hosttheir events here,” she says.“Museums are evolving to be spaces
wherepeople canengagewithand influencethe content. Our partnershipwith ZeitzMu-seum of Contemporary African Art andhostingArt exhibitions, allowsvisitorswhowould not traditionally go to an art gallery, the opportunity to experience art,” shesays.Themuseum tells the stories of theCape’s
people and events, fostering a new genera-tion of storytellers, entrepreneurs, youthdevelopment and job creation, saysDodgen.V For more information, contact Chavonnes BatteryMuseum on 021 416 6230 or visit www.chavonnesbattery.co.za.

Standing up to police killingsSAMANTHA LEE
@Samantha_Lee121
Hundreds of pairs of feet lined up on Sat-urday 21 February to march againstpolice killings across the province.
Organised by the provincial CommunityPolice Forum (CPF) board, the march wassupported by the Department of CommunitySafety (Docs), provincial police, neighbour-hood watch members, organisations and theCity of Cape Town’s security fraternity.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safetyand Security JP Smith said they were fortu-nate to have a smaller force and so lessdeaths.
“We have been lucky, but the five deathswe have had are too many,” he told thecrowd after the march.
Smith also brought with him a messagefrom mayor Patricia de Lille.
Her message read: “I would like to thankthe CPF board for organising the event andfor setting a sterling example for others tofollow. I also regret that I cannot be there atthe event.”
But Lieutenant-General Arno Lamoer, provincial police commissioner, said themarch was not only for the men and womenin blue.
“This march is not only about us. This isalso for the community. For all those whoinnocently lose their lives,” said Lamoer.
“It is time to take back our streets andparks.”
The group marched from Nyanga PoliceStation to Manenberg Police Station.
While hundreds of people turned out forthe march, provincial community safetyminister Dan Plato said it was not about thepeople who attended.
“What we are more concerned about is themessage that goes out from here. We wantto congratulate theCPFboardon this beauti-ful initiative and we will go out into the are-as,” he said.
Lamoer said up until December therewere 446 attacks on police officials. He urgedresidents to take action.
“The only way we can deal with police kill-ings effectively is if the community standsup. Report corrupt officials to us so that wecandealwith them.Donot tell everyonehowcorrupt police are. Do something about it,”he said.
“Also, don’t attack the police. What willhappen if all officers in the Western Capedowned tools for just 30 minutes. What doyou think will happen?” he said.
Smith also said that on a trip to Germany,a man said to him that in South Africa morepolice officials had been killed than Germa-ny had lost since World War II.
“This is true compared to the rest of theworld as well. When you put on a uniformyou are at risk. We are really in the firingline,” he said, urging more residents to takea stand.
Provincial CPF members thanked all fortheir attendance and support in the event.
Hundreds of men and women from various organisations joined hands against the killing ofpolice officials. PHOTOS: SAMANTHA LEE
Those in attendance were urged to ‘blow the whistle’ on police killings, corruption and crime. The peaceful march was attended by hundreds of officials from all over the Western Cape.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith was one of the guest speakers.“We have been lucky that not many of our officers have been killed. But the five that havedied are too many,” he said.
Lieutenant-General Arno Lamoer, provincialpolice commissioner, walked alongside themasses in solidarity. “This is not only aboutus but about the innocent killings happeningon the Cape Flats,” he said, adding thatspecial focus should be put on keepingchildren safe.
Provincial minister for Community Safety DanPlato commended the provincial CommunityPolice Forum Board on the “beautiful initia-tive” and pledged the support of his depart-ment in standing up against senseless killingsand lawlessness in communities.
Sneakers, flip-flops, dress shoes and police boots all moved in solidarity as hundreds of peopletook to the street against police killings in the Western Cape.
The march was led by officials carrying this banner. The event was supported by the Depart-ment of Community Safety, the City of Cape Town, provincial police, Community Police Forumboards and other organisations from the security fraternity.

PINELANDS
Chris is on the WergeLOUISA STEYL
@LouNotes
He just released his debut album andopened for James Blunt in Cape Town– all in the space of one month.
Considering he only really started playingmusic professionally about two years ago,Chris Werge might just be on his way to be-coming a household name.Right now though, the Pinelands resident
is concentrating on promoting his album,Exposure, whichhe launched at theRoxyRe-vue Bar last month.Chris describes his sound as “singer/
songwriter kind of music”.“If you like something like John Mayer,
Ed Sheeran, BenHoward, youmight like it.”He viewsmusic as an emotional outlet and
so his songs are all very honest stories abouthis own experiences.“My real hope is for people to be inspired
and encouraged by my music, that’s alwaysbeen the goal.”
CreativeThe 23-year-old has always been creative.
Before seriously looking at music, he stu-died industrial design. After four years ofstudying, he decided to take time and workon his dream of producing an album.Armed with 16 songs and encouragement
from his parents, Chris took out a loan andgot to work on his unreleased six-track EPcalled Hope. His parents helped put him in touch with
GrandWest’s entertainment manager, Ga-vin Taylor, who took him under his wingand put him in touch with vocal coach, BevScott-Brown.Gavin also got Chris his first official gig
at the Jackson Hall, which is where he metproducer Neil Benjamin.“He was kind of blown awaywithmy stuff
when he walked in,” Chris says. “I think hecould relate to the music.”
ExposureThe two started working on Exposure last
year, very slowly at first, justwork shoppingand tracking Chris’ songs.Neil brought in bassist Rob Nel and drum-
mer Werner Von Waltsleben. Although Robhad to pull out of the project, hewas replacedby Shaun Johannes, whose Loevenstein stu-dio, Mahogany Recording Studio, was usedfor pre-production work on the album.“It’s quite a hard processwhen your songs
are gettingmoved around or changed; it’s li-ke your baby.”But Chris says when he listens back to his
songs now he can hear how important it isto have a producer and how his songs nowhave better structure.
The final productwas recordedatThunda-bird Studios, where he also hired string andbrass arranger, Lynne Poulsen, who can al-so be heard playing piano on the album.
EmotionalChris describes the recording process as
tiring. “It’s emotional; you are pouring yourheart out in songs.” He says it was a bit ofa struggle to find a balance between soun-ding the best he can and maintaining theemotion of the song.“I’m proud of the work I’ve done,” he says
of the 11-month project.Chris hopes to have hismusic on local air-
waves in coming months, but the album isavailable online and at his shows. His plan for the next couple of months is
to play as many shows as possible, record amusic video, promote his album and startworking on songs and the capital for his nextalbum.“With every album you learn for the next
album.”If he isn’t too busy with music, he also li-
kes to use his industrial design qualificati-ons and possibly do more television ads liketheEuropeanadhe recently shot forNutella. For now, music lovers can visit
www.chriswerge.com for more about Chris, links to his social media profiles and to buyExposure.Chris Werge

Young rugby fans from SACS, Bishops,Rondebosch Boys High School andWestern Province Prep and their fa-
thers were treated to a unique experiencewith one of South Africa’s most respectedrugby players, Springbok captain Jean deVilliers.
A well-known South African based wealthmanagement company hosted a Dads andLads event on Thursday 12 February in asso-ciation with SACS in Newlands.
De Villiers talked about his inspiring ca-reer and shared what it means for him to becaptain of the national team. He spoke of theteam’s desire to be a unifying force in SouthAfrica and recognised the tremendous re-sponsibility the players carry as role mod-els. In reference to his recent injury, he said,“I am making good progress, but I am stilla couple of months away from running andgetting back onto the field.
“Our ultimate aim for 2015 is to bringhome the World Cup and make all South Af-ricans proud. Then I can think about retire-ment with a smile on my face,” De Villierssaid.

The highly anticipated, potential league-deciding match between Giants andCrusaders truly lived up to the pre-
match hype.It was fast, exciting, action-packed and
with the short game squeezed in aswell. Bat-tle lines were drawn as supporters fromGrassy park and Kensington came out intheir numbers to support their teams.
The Giants started with Jaydee Thorneand he contained the Crusaders’ hitters forsix innings before he exhausted his 110pitches allowed for the day. Thorne (6 in-nings, 2 Hits, 3 BB, 5K’s and 2 HBP) was re-placed by Kurt Pretorious at the top of the7th inning with the score 7-4 to the Giants.
This is where the wheels came off for theGiants, as Pretorious (0.1 inning, 1 Hit, 3Runs, 3 BB) struggled to find the plate andwas later replaced byCarloKoks in the sameinning. Crusaders found Koks’ pitching totheir liking. Koks finished the game (2.2 in-ning, 5 Hits, 3 BB) but was also sabotaged bythe Giants poor defence. The Giants made 5errors in the game.
Crusaders surprised the Giants by start-ing with the experienced Benjamin van derRoss. This almost backfired on Crusaderswhen Van der Ross conceded 4 runs in thefirst inning. Van der Ross (2.1 inning, 3 Hits,3 BB and 3HBP) was quickly replaced by theyoung Cameron Fortuin. Fortuin did muchbetter (6.2 inning, 6 Hits, 0 BB and 7 K’s) andmade scoring difficult for the Giants. Cru-saders were fortunate that the four errorsthey made weren’t as costly as the Giants’errors. Carlo Koks 4/5, 1 RBIwas theGiants’best batter. Aldrin Hendricks 2/3, 2 RBI’sand Cameron Fortuin 2/5 were Crusaders’best batters.
