RED SALAS DE TEATRO
Debido a la gran oferta teatral de los últimos años, el número de espacios que ofrecen una cartelera de espectáculos en forma permanen-te, también ha aumentado.
Como una manera de dar a conocer estos espacios e invitar al público chileno y extran-jero a asistir a las diversas actividades teatrales que se realizan en la capital, nace la iniciativa conjunta de las salas de teatro de Santiago de publicar su información en una guía bilingüe, la que permitirá entre otros, generar cruces de audiencias entre las diferentes salas, introducir el mercado teatral dentro de la oferta turística y potenciar el trabajo en red.
Este importante proyecto comienza con la ela-boración de la primera guía impresa de salas de teatro de Santiago, un material que cuenta con información de las principales salas de teatro de la capital en inglés y español, en una primera edición de 20.000 ejemplares.
Gracias al apoyo del Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes, esta iniciativa es el primer paso para la puesta en marcha de la Red de Salas de Teatro - Santiago de Chile, que espera ver la luz durante el año 2012 y que significa-rá, entre otras muchas actividades, la primera estrategia de marketing asociado del teatro en Chile.
Due to the great quantity of theatric works in the last years, it has increased the number of theaters that offer a permanent performance planning.
This bilingual publication has emerged as an agreement among the theater managers in or-der to publicize these places and invite Chilean and Foreigner audiences to attend the different theatrical activities of Santiago, and also to let them know about the theater information and facilities. This guide will mainly allow the mem-bers of the audience can circulate among the different stages, and also includes theater as a tourist activity and promotes the networking in the theatric field.
This important project begin with this guide, a first printed map of the theater center of Santiago that contains information about the principal performance stages in English and Spanish, with 20.000 free magazines.
With the support of the CNCA (National Culture & Arts Counsil), this guide is the first step to imple-ment the theater networking – Santiago of Chile, which is going to start in 2012 and it will represent the first marketing work of the Chilean theater.

Since 1985, this company has been working in group creations which encourage thinking over about what characterized Chilean people according to each ge-neration. Teatro del Puente, ubicado sobre el río Mapocho, es el úni-co teatro del mundo emplazado sobre un puente. Declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional en 1997, tiene como misión difundir y poner en valor el teatro contemporáneo. Programa exposiciones, lanzamientos y el ciclo musical “El Río Suena”. Para sus visitantes y público cuenta con el Café del Puente.
Teatro del Puente is located over the Mapocho river and is the only theater in the world that actually has this kind of location. It was established Historic National Monument in 1997 and its aim is disseminate and increase the value of the contemporary theater. It also programs exhibitions, launchings and the musi-cal season “El Río Suena”. In addition, it has a cafeteria called “Café del Puente”.
Con 12 años de experiencia, San Ginés es una de las principales corporaciones culturales de la región, albergando obras de teatro independientes y expo-siciones de arte. Responsable del fomento, organi-zación y programación de espectáculos artísticos de calidad, gestiona además una red de programas sociales orientados a mejorar el acceso al teatro.
With 12 years of experience, San Ginés is one of the main cultural corporations of the region, and it is home of independent theater plays and art exhibi-tions. It is responsible of promoting, organizing and scheduling high quality art performances and it also tries to obtain a social net program aimed at impro-ving theater access.

Teatro la Memoria es una sala para 100 especta-dores que acoge preferentemente las produccio-nes de los docentes del Centro de investigación Teatral la Memoria, dirigido por Alfredo Castro. Su programación privilegia investigaciones es-cénicas de directores que busquen descifrar un material textual comprometido y elaborar nuevas poéticas estéticas.

Their program favors the performing studies of directors who try to put on stage political playwriting and create new poetics for the scene.

El Teatro Sidarte, dependiente del Sindicato de Actores de Chile (SiDARTE), es un espacio que busca contribuir al de-sarrollo y la promoción de las artes escénicas. Lastarria 90 emerges to reopen an emblematic building where the Teatro de Ensayo of Catholic University Drama School and El Aleph group worked. Since it is promoted by the Drama School IP Arcos, the objective audiences mainly are young people and professionals. Besides plays, it pro-grams forums with prominent performers.
Es la sede del Teatro Nacional Chileno, fundado en 1941 como Teatro Experimental de la Universidad de Chile, primera compañía universitaria del país. Su programación incluye anualmente teatro joven, po-pular chileno, clásico y contemporáneo, además de programas de extensión, funciones a estudiantes, visitas guiadas y ensayos abiertos.
It is the Chilean National Theater that was founded in 1941 as the Teatro Experimental of the Chile University Drama School, which is the first university company of the country. The program yearly includes emergent theater, popular Chilean theater, classic and contemporary performance. It also carries out extension programs for students, visits guides and open rehearsals.

Primer centro cultural de Chile declarado Monumento Nacional (1976). From the Art Faculty’s Theater Department of the University of Chile, DETUCH is an institution that has become in the oldest place of the country for tea-ching, creation, research and extension of theater. They accept productions of emergent, professio-nal, national and international companies, and also student’s works.
Creada en el año 2005 para recibir artistas de teatro, danza y música de la escena nacional e internacio-nal. Es un espacio de concepción contemporánea, tanto por su diseño como por su capacidad de transformación espacial, donde además se realizan seminarios y charlas que son parte de la programa-ción anual.
It was founded in 2005 to receive theater, dance and music artists, from the national and international scene. It is a space of a contemporary conception, both by its design and by its versatility, where are also carried out seminars and lectures that are part of the year program.

Nace con la necesidad de abrir un nuevo espacio para la escena y cartelera teatral capitalina, ofre-ciendo una variada gama de espectáculos pen-sados para un público transversal. Su norte es convertir la asistencia al teatro en una experiencia entretenida y reflexiva en torno al arte y la cultura.
It starts in order to open a new space for the stage and theater program of the capital, offering a wide range of performances intended for a cross audien-ce. Its aim is to convert the theater attendance in an enjoyable and thoughtful experience about art and culture.
En los ‘50 y ‘60 gran parte de la actividad teatral se concentraba en los teatros universitarios. El Teatro de Ensayo de la Universidad Católica tuvo como sede la sala Camilo Henríquez, que reabrió sus puertas el 2009 con una programación variada para adultos y para la familia.
In the 50’s and 60’s a great part of the theater activity was focused on university theaters. The Rehearsal Theater of the Catholic University had as main place the Camilo Henríquez playhouse, which reopened in 2009 with a varied program for adults and families.

Existe desde el año 2002, ubicado dentro de la Universidad Arcis. Tiene capacidad para 240 espectadores. Dentro de su cartelera destacan los montajes de egreso de la escuela y aquellas obras profesionales que participan de los Festivales de otoño y Primavera organi-zados cada año por el Departamento de extensión.

Centro de funcionamiento de la compañía de body percusión Teatro Phi, que ofrece funciones una vez al mes en sus depen-dencias. Ubicado en un lugar clásico de Santiago Antiguo ha sido también usado para ensayar por compañías emergentes y algunas muy importantes como la Royal de luxe y Andrés Perez.
It is the working center of the Body Percussion Phi Theater Company, and once a month performances are offered in their premises. It is located in a classic pla-ce of the old Santiago and it is been used for emerging companies rehearsals, some of them very important like the Royal de Luxe and Andrés Perez.
Es una sala de barrio que funciona como café y teatro con capacidad para 50 personas, programa obras que centren su creatividad en lo lúdico y lo pe-dagógico transmitiendo valores de respeto, proacti-vidad y desarrollo humano.
It is a neighborhood playhouse that is used as a ca-feteria and theater, that holds 50 people. It program plays that are merely recreational and learning crea-tivity, passing on respect, pro activity and human de-velopment values.
