Importance to Me

Out of all the skills I learned this summer semester, I would have to say that reading was one of the most important ones. I learned that reading isn’t just about looking over the material. It involves many different techniques that allow one to comprehend the text in a well educated manner.

Open Mind

When reading, an open mind is very important because it gives the reader an opportunity to reason and imagine.

It also allows the reader to get a better understanding of what the author is going through.

Imagination

A good imagination permits the mind to wonder about the text and take the reader to many different places.

Depth

Learn to look past the general text.

Try and develop different interpretations.

Look for symbols that have hidden meanings.

Spark

One needs to remember to continue reading even when the material gets tough and hard to understand.

Read the material over and over again until something sparks in your head.

End

Reading is a very valuable skill that I will be able to carry onto any future classes.
