    Theadditionofco-optoRE5isoneofthebiggestchangestheserieshasseen.Althoughcertainthingswillapplytobothpeopleifyou'replayingwithanotherperson,I'mjustgoingtosticktoreferringtothemainpersonasChrisandthepartnerasSheva.

    InZero,ofcourse,therewasthepartnerzappingfeature--butthisisafarcryfromthat.Throughoutthewholegame,you'llbepairedwithanothercharactertofightalongsidewith.

    Ifyou'replayingalone,you'llbeautomaticallyplayingasChris.Ifyou'replayingwithanotherperson,youcanchoosewhichcharactertobe.Ifoneofthemdies,thegameisover.

    Therewillbedifferentcommandsthroughoutthegame,suchasAssistJump,

    whereChrisboostsShevaup,orHelpPartner,whichisattackinganenemywho'shurtingSheva.Whenyou'rebothnearanitem,youcanpickitupyourselforhaveShevapickitup.

    Ifeitherofyouareabouttodie,theothercharactercanresuscitateyou.Duringthattime,you'rescreenwilltakeonaredtintandit'llbekindalikehavingmotionsickness,andyouwon'tbeabletodefendyourself.Ifthenon-dyingcharacterhasanyhealthitems,they'llfirstusethose.Ifnot,they'llinjectyouwithsomething.Theamountoftimesyoucanberesuscitatedisinfinite.

    Ifbothcharactersareneareachotherandyouuseahealthitem,it'llhealbothofyou.WhenSheva'sHUDisflashing"HELP,"youcangoovertoherand

    hittheenemythat'sattackinghertohelpher.Likewise,shecandothesameforyou.

    Ifyouwantsomethingthatshehas,youcangointoherinventorybypressingR2wheninyourown,and"request"it.You'llautomaticallyreceiveit.Youcangiveheranitemifyou'renearherbyselectingthatoptioninyourinventory.IfShevaisawayfromyou,youcanequiptheitemandthengiveittoherwhenyou'rebyeachother.

    Bothcharactershavetheirownsetofmeleeattacksthattheycanusedependingonthesituation(basically,dependingonhowtheMajinihasbeenhit).Youcanalsouseacombinationofmoves--onefromChris,andonefromSheva--ifyoutimeitright.

    Thesearetheoptionsyou'llbegivendependingonwhichitemyou'rehighlightingintheinventory:Equip,Give,Discard,Use,Combine.

    YoucanpressR2toshowcaseSheva'sinventory.Treasures,gold,andkeysdon'ttakeupanyspace.

    Ontheitemmanagementscreen,youwillseethreeoptions:Organize,Buy,andReady.Bothinventorieswillbedisplayed,aswellasatypeofitemboxwhereyoucanstorestuffyoudon'tcurrentlywanttohaveinyourinventory.Youcanalsoviewandsellyourtreasures.

    Organizeallowsyoutogointoyourinventoryandcombine,sell,upgrade,remove,add,give(totheothercharacter)ormoveitems.Buyallowsyouto,

    well,buythings!Readyisforwhenyou'redoneandpreparedtocontinueoninthegame.

    Majini

    Thesearethemainenemiesofthegame.TheyareinfectedwithLasPlagas,andcancommunicate,attackingroups,anduseweapons.Oneoftheirattacksiswhentheirjawsopenandtheparasitetriestolatchontoyou.

    Executioner

    Thebestwaytohandletheexecutioneriswithexplosivebarrels,grenades,andtheshotgun.ThesethingsalsotakeouttheMajinithatwillbearoundhimand/oryou,whichmakesiteasier.Afterstunninghim,youcaneitheruseameleeattack,orkeepshootinghimwiththeshotgun.Youcanalsousetherifleormachinegun.Ifyoufeelmorecomfortablestayingawayfromhim,agoodwaytodothatistogouptooneoftheplatformsthatyouhavetojumpto,becausehewon'tbeabletofollowyou.Thatwayyoucanshootawayathimasyouwant,whilewatchingoutforotherMajinithattrytoattackyou,although

    hopefullyShevawillbetakingcareofmostofthem.Hehastwomoves:swinginghisaxefromsidetoside,andslammingitdownintotheground.Bothattackswilltakeoutanythingintheway.They'rereallypowerful,andifyougethit,you'llbeputintodyingstatus.Itcaninfacthityouwhileyou'rebeingheldbyaMajini,sobecarefulofyoursurroundingswhileyou'rebattlingthisguy.Ifindthatthebestapproachisanaggressiveone.

    ChainsawWielders

    WhilethereisachanceofChrissurvivingthisifhehasenoughhealth,it'sstillagoodideatotrynottogethit!Thebestwaytodealwiththeseguysisbyusinggrenades,proximitybombs,andgoodoldshotgunshells.

    DogsThesearewaymoreviciousthantheonesfoundinthepreviousgames.And,asabonus,sometimestheirheadswillsplitintotwo!Theyhaveajumpattackthatwilltakedamageoffnomatterwhat(nowaytododgeit),andtheycanalsolatchontoyouwiththeirparasites.Theycanalsojumponyou.Thebestwaytodealwiththeseiswiththeshotgunorsomethingsimilarinpower.Theycanbehardtokeeptrackofbecauseofhowfasttheyareandbecausethere'salwaysmorethanoneatatime.

    Reapers

    Therearen'tmanyofthese,buttheycanbeapainintheasssincetheycandoaninstantkillattack.Stayawayfromthemifyoucan,andtheyalsohavesometypeofacid/gasspewingability.Whenyouseethewhiteareasontheirchest,shootit,andthenthey'llbestunnedandwillshowawhitespotnearitshead.Whenthathappensshootthat.Itwillmostlikelygobackwardsalittleandthewhitechestpartwillrevealitselfagain.Shootituntilitsdead.

    Lickers

    Ifyou'veplayedRE2,youshouldrememberthese...exceptthey'vesteppeditupanotch.Youcansneakbythemaslongasyouwalkanddon'tmakeanynoise.They'realwaysinlargegroups,andalsotheydon'tcrawltooquickly,theyattackfastandalot.Itcantakesquiteabittotakethemout,souseapowerfulweapon,orgrenades.I'vealsofoundthatnitrogenroundswiththegrenadelauncherworkverywell.

    Crocodiles

    Theseshouldn'tbefought,asthere'snoreasontokillthem.Youcanalwaysrunbythemifyou'reinthewater,althoughthereisatimeinwhichyou'llhavetododgethemtosurvive,sinceoneattackwillkillyou.

    Uroboros

    Fire.Thiswillbethecentralthemeamongallthreeofthesefights.Forthefirstone,usethetwotanksintheareaandthenshutitinthefurnace.OnAmateurandNormal,it'llonlytakeonetimeofdoingthattokillit,whileonVeteranandProfessional,it'lltaketwo.

    Popokarimu

    Thisbosscanfly,tangleyouinsometypeofweb,screechtostopyou,andjustsimplyattack.Usetheproximitybombsaroundtheareatostunit,andwhenitlaysonitsside,shootthehelloutoftheglowingsideofitstail.You'llhavetorepeatthisatleastacoupleoftimes.

    Ndesu

    Thisisaturretfight,soit'sprettysimpleasfarasthatgoes.Rememberthattheturretcanoverheat,sowatchthat.Shootthetrolluntilitrevealsacoupleofparasites,thentargetthose.Abiggeronewillpopout,soshoot

    thatasmuchaspossible.Thatwillgobackin,sorepeatshootingthebigdudeuntilmoreparasitescomeouttoplay.Shootthemuntilthebigonecomesoutagain.That'sprettymuchit.However,you'llalsohavetododgeatsomepoints,andwhenhepicksupaboulder,shootitasmuchasyoucanbeforeitgetstoyouandhopefullyit'llbreak.Whenhegetsclosetoyouandisabouttosmashyouwithhisfoot,justkeepshootingandit'llstophim.He'llalsotrytoswinghisarmandhityou,soyou'llhavetododgethat.Inaddition,hecanpickupatreeandswingitatyou,soduckwhenthathappens.TheannoyingpartofthefightcanbethethreeMajinithatkeepreappearingthroughoutit.Therewillbetwototherightattimes,tryingtoshootyouwitharrows,andoneontheleft,throwingsometypeoffiregrenadeatyou.Takethemoutwhenyoucan.

    Irving

    Thisisanotherturretfight,butit'sabitmorecomplicatedthanthepreviousone.Again,thegunscanoverheat.Thefronttwogunsarenormalturrets,whilethebacktwohaverocketsorsomethingsimilarinthem.Theseonesoverheatafteroneshotforafewseconds,sotrytomaketheshotscount.Trytoaimfortheredspotonitshead.Therewillbetentaclesthatcomeupfromthewaterthatyouneedtoshoottosever.Therewillalsobedodgecommands.WhenitopensitsmouthinthefrontoftheshipandshowsIrvinginside,shootit

    asmuchaspossible.TherewillalsobeanothertypeoftentaclethatwillcomeupontheboatattimesandtrytograbyouorSheva.Watchoutforthose.JustrepeatthisprocessuntilIrvingdies.

    Walkforwardabitandyou'llhavethechoiceofeitherpickingupalanternyourself,orhavingShevacarryitsothatyoucanattackenemies.Makeachoice,andcontinueon.Whenyougettothefork,gorighttogetaredherbandthengobackandgointheotherdirection.You'llsooncomeacrossaMajini.Dispatchitandheadforwardmore.Gototherightwhenyoucantofindsomeitems,thengoleftwherethetunnelleads.Followthetraintracks,killingMajiniasyougoandwatchingoutforbarrelsandcrates(therewillbesometotherightacoupleoftimes).Towardstheendthere'sapathtotaketotheleft,butwatchoutbecauseoneofthecrateswithcontainasnake.Eitheryoucanturnthecrankbythegate,orshe'llcan.Whoeverdoeswillbestuck

    onthatsideforabitwithenemiescomingatthemwhiletheothercharacterturnsthecrankontheotherside.

    Onceintheopenareaontheotherside,you'llbegreetedbyabunchofMajini.Scaletotheupperareastotakethemoutmoreeasilyifyouwant,andtherearesomeitemstobefounduphereaswell.Whenyou'redonewiththat,headthroughthetunnelareaupthere,watchoutforenemies,andheadintotheelevatortogettothenextplace.Headtotherightforanitemandthenstartascendingthestairstotriggeracutscene.Checkouttheroomforacoupleofitems,includinganewweaponinoneofthelockers.Godownthestairsinsideandintotheopenarea.Alongwithsomenormalfirearrows,you'llbehavingtowatchoutforaguywithaturret.Thebestwaytotakehimout,ifyouhaveit,istouseagrenadefrombehindwhereheis.Andafterkillinghim,youcan

    useityourself.Afterthegeneralareaisclear,headovertotheladder.Upatthetopalittletotherightofitisaglowingspot,whichisatreasureyoucanshootdown.Nowascendtheladder.

    Thenextchapterbeginswithabigmotorcyclechase.Theammoisinfinite.Theturretcanoverheat,butitshouldn'tbeaproblem.Watchit,andstopshootingbeforethegaugeisfullyred.Shevawillalsobeusingaturret.TakeouttheMajinionthebikesaswellasthetrucksthatcomeuptothesidesofyouattimes.You'llalsohavetopressbuttonsatafewdifferenttimeswhenthedrivermakesasharpturn.Whenyougettothetruckthat'sblockingyourpath,shootalloftheexplosivebarrelsaroundit.

    Checkoutthemap,andtheblinkingplaceiswhereyouhavetogo.Basically,themapshowseveryplaceyoucangotoandhavetogoinordertogettheslates.Ifyougototheblinkingspot,youcangettheslatemap,whichwillshowanXforoneoftheareas.Thethirdslate,Raptor,islocated

    straightfromthereattheoppositesideofthemap.Whenyougetout,you'llhavetogointothewater,andthemusicwillpickup--forgoodreason.Therearecrocodilesinhere.Headtounderneaththebuildingandgouptheladder.Checkoutthenearestbuilding,gettheitems,andtakeouttheenemies.Thengotothenextcoupleofstructuresformoreitems,aswellastheslatepiece.CheckthemapagainandgotothespotwithanXmarkedonit.Examinethesurroundings,becausethereareplentyofitemsaround.Therearenoenemiesaroundyetsohaveattheexploring.Atthebackoftheareaisabrokenladderthatyou'llhavetoassistShevaup.Oncethere,she'llgrabthefourthandfinalslate,Shaman.Onceshedoesthat,theactionintheplaceoccurs.Afterkillingtheinitialhordeofthem,youcanassistherupanotherladderthathasatreasureinit.Nowyoucaneitherkeepfighting,orjustgetthehelloutofthere.

    IfyoucangetthetwobigMajinistuckinacornertowhereyoucanshootoncewiththeshotgun,hitbothofthem,andthendoameleeattackthathurtsthemboth,that'sthebestthingtodo.Onceyou'vetakenoutalloftheenemies,gobacktothestartingpointandgorightthistime,pickinguptheitemsasyougoalong.Climbupthesmallledgeandthenactivatethelever,andholdontoituntilyouseeShevacrossthebridgebelowandgothroughthedoors.

    meetbackupwithSheva,andyoucanpushopenthetombtogetsometreasuresandgold.Beonthelookoutfortorchesbecausealotofthemhavetreasuresinthem.HeadintothenearbyroomforanotheritemandthenthroughtheopeningontowhereShevawascoveringyoufrom.

    Ontheotherside,openyetanothertombandbepreparedforabuttonprompt,followedbysomeenemies.Checkthethreecorridorsaroundyouforsometreasuresandthengothroughtheopening.Takethemoutfromafarwiththerifleorgetrightintotheaction.Eitherway,jumpdownandyou'llnoticeabunchofbarrelsspreadallaround.Goaheadandstartbreakingthem,butafteracertaindistance,bigballsoffire(yep)willcometumblingdownandaroundyou.Inawaythishelpsbecauseit'llsmashthevasesforyou.

    Ontheotherhand...well,watchthehelloutforthem.Goupontheplatformandturnthestatue.Afterdoingso,runasfastasyoucantogetunderthedoorbeforeitcloses.Afterthatsequenceisover,headthroughthedoorsatthebottomofthestaircase.MoveforwardabitandtherewillbeaQTEsequence.Oncethat'sover,jumpdownintothenewarea,andpullthelevers.Headdownthestairsandtotheleftwillbeabarrel.Nowgoright(butnotalltheway).

    Therewillbeaplatformtojumpto,sogothere,anduptheincline.Followthestairsandgorightfortwobarrels.Nowgobacktowhereyoustartedfrom,

    Again,grabthetreasure,andthenrunacrosstheplatformthatwasjustraised.Goright,followingthepath,andenemieswillstartcomingoutofthewoodwork.Keepfollowingthepathandgoleft.Whenyouseethepurplestatueinthedistancestraightahead,godownthestaircasetotheleft,andthenupthenextstaircase.Pullthecordsonthegoldstatue.Grabthetreasure,andjustrightofthestatue,behindyou,isawalkwayleadingtoatreasurechest,sogothere,thengotothepurplestatue.

    There'sonlyonecordthere,soShevawillstaytherewhileyoufindtheotherone.Godownthestaircaseinfrontofthegoldstatueandthenturnleft.Attheendofthepath,gorightforsomebarrels.Thengototheotherside,andinthecornerwillbethesecondpurplestatue.Whenyou'removingtowardit,moreenemieswillappear.Ifyouhavetherifle,youcancoverherfromdownthere,butifnot,youmightwanttogobackupandhelpher.Youcaneitherdoitthisway,ortheopposite,whereyougotothebottomstatuefirstandhaveShevastaythere,yougouptopyourself.

    Onewaymightbealittleeasierthantheotherforyou.Eitherway,watchoutfortheenemiesandSheva,andthenheadtotheareathatwasopenedup(downthestairsinfrontofthegoldenstatueandstraight).Therewillbeanopeningwitharedstatue;pullthecordsattackedtoit.Asyoubegintotryandleave,thebatbossfromalotearlierwillreturn.Youcaneitherfightitthesamewayasbefore(butinasmaller,harderarea),orstartrunningtowardthestairstogetoutofthere(thestairsaretotherightofwherethecreatureappears).

    Towardthetopofthestairswillbeabuttonprompt.Afterthat,gothroughthedoor.Therewillbeacutscenethatwillmarktheendofthechapter.

    Outsideofthislittleplace,attheveryendofthepathwiththesunbeam,isasmallspacewithacoupleofvases.Afteryou'redone,makeyourwaybackuptothewalkwaywiththebridge,andgoleftandintothenewarea.Inhere,gototherightforacoupleofvases.Alsoofnotehereisthatifyoulookuptotheright,you'llbeabletoseeandtakeoutthesecondsunbeamwielder.NowyouhavetosendShevaovertotheotherside.DoyourbesttocoverherasshegetstheSkyemblem.IalsoregrettoinformyouthatanothermaskedMajiniwillbeshowingupnow.

    Killtheenemies,orrunfromthem,whicheveriseasierforyou.Theplaceyouneedtogoisthegreen/bluecircleonthemap,backaroundwherethelastareawas.Ifyouhaveenoughroundsforthegrenadelauncher,orthegrenadesingeneral...orplentyofhealth,youmightwanttofight.Ifyoudon'tthere'sagoodchancethatthey'llchaseyouanddoalotofdamage,anyway.Nowheadtothegreen/bluecircleonthemapandplaceallthreeemblemsintheirindents.

    Headupthelongstaircaseandgothroughthehugedoorsattheend.Headforward,downthestairs,andopenthedoorattheend.

    Looksfun,huh?Shevawillmoveoutofthewaywhileyou'redoingthis.Thisroomissimple.Fromthedooryouentered,gotothefarleftmirrorandturnitleft,thengetontheplatformandrideitdown.Inthenextroom,knockthepillardown.Fromtheplatform,gotothemirrorontheleft,theonewiththelasergoingintothewall.Turnitright.Gototherightcorneroftheroomfromthere(top)andturnthemirrorleft.Knockthepillaroutofthewayofthebeam,andmakeyourwayaroundthelaserstothenextelevator,andheaddown.

    Don'topenthetreasurechestintheroomunlessyou'reokaywithfacingsome

    ofthespiderenemiesforfun.Turnthemirrorthat'sdiagonaltotheoneontheplatformyourodeuptotheright.Goaroundtotheothersideandmovethemirrorclosesttotheplatformtotheright.Gototheonetotheleftofthisandturnitright.Nowgoinsidethesetworoomsforsomegoldandtreasure,thoughwatchoutforsnakesinafewofthevases.

    Jumpdownfromhereontotheconveyorbelt.Maneuveryourwaybetweentheboxesandontherightsidetowardstheendwillbeanareayoucanclimbup.Doso,andpulltheleverhere.Turnaroundandascendthestairs,andgothroughthedoor.Grabtheitemshereandheadontothemovingplatformandfollowittotheotherside.Becareful,astherewillbeenemiesandgrenadesbeingthrownatyou.Ontheleftattheendwillbeaplatformtogoonto.

    Thefirstthingthatneedstobesaidisthis:bepatient,andrememberyourcontrollerisyourfriend.Thismayhelpyounotbreakone.It'shardtopicturejusthowfrustratingResidentEvil5'sProfessionalmodeisevenwithpeopletellingyoufromtheirownexperiences,butyou'llunderstandassoonasyoubeginarunthroughyourself.Whiletherearethosewhocangothroughitwithouttoomuchtrouble(justadecentamount),bepreparedtogetpissed,andgetpissedalot.Playingwithaco-oppartnerandinfiniteammoshouldhelpkeepfrustrationstoaminimum.Playingwithoneofthoseshouldhelpabitaswell.However,ifyou'relikeme,andwishtogothroughitonyourownandwithoutinfiniteammo,heedthefirstsentence'swarning.ThereweretimeswhereIwantedtothrowmycontrollerrightintotheTV,butthatwouldhave

    TherewasoneareainwhichIhadtouseinfiniteammo,anditwasthepublicassemblyplacewhilewaitingforKirk.IhadstartedthegamewithnothingtoseehowfarIcouldgetlikethat.Itwasn'tveryfar.Ihadbasicallynoammowhenthehousesiegebegan,andtrustme,peoplearen'texaggeratingwhentheysaythatonehitwillsendyouintodyingstatus,andifyourpartnerisn'trighttheretohelporyou'renottheretohelpthem,you'redead.Yougetaboutasecondtosaveeachother.IwhippedoutmyGatlingGunandhadShevausedherLongbowtogetthroughthatsection.Afterwards,IhadherkeeptheLongbowbutIgotridofmyweaponandwentbacktomynormal(butupgraded)handgunandshotgun.WhenIcameacrosstheusualgunsthatweren'tupgradedatall,IhadShevapickthemupandshewouldusethem.Sothroughoutmostofmy

    playthrough,Ididuseupgradedweaponsandhavenoshameinadmittingthat,butIstayedawayfrominfiniteammo.

    Youfeelahugesenseofreliefuponcompletingcertainareasandgettingtonewpointsbecauseyouknowyouwon'thavetodoitagain.

    Forthesakeofmakingthiseasier,I'lljustbereferringtomyselfasChrisandtheAIasSheva.

    Now,forthemostpart,thegamecanbeplayednormallylikeontheotherdifficulties.Thebossesandafewrandomsectionsarewhatcanbeapainintheass.Forthefirstbossbattle,letitconsumethecanistersandthenshootthem,whichwillcauseenoughdamagesothatyouhavetoonlycloseitinthe

    furnacetwice(ifyoudon'tusetheexplosions,it'llprobablytakethreetimes).
