Re: Training Records for Robert Bates
I am the owner of Professional Law Enforcement Training (PLET). I am also a veteran police officer
with one of the largest police departments in the United States. Over the past 7 years, PLET has provided
advanced training courses to thousands of police officers across the United States and Canada with
exceptional reviews.
On February 7, 2013, PLET held a 1 day (8 training hours) Mexican Drug Cartel Training course in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Bates attended the training course, signed in on the CLEET roster which I have
attached, but he did not place his CLEET number on the roster and that is the reason the training did not
show up on his training records. I have attached a copy of the roster.
In 2010 (exact dates will be verified on April 18, 2015), the Broken Arrow Police Department co-hosted
our 3 day, (24 training hours) Mid-Level Narcotic Investigations course. Mr. Bates attended all 3 days of
the training course. The PLET training records for this course are archived, and I will access the records
when I return to Dallas on April 18, 2015 and forward you a copy. This training occurred prior to PLET
digitally storing all training records.
During the 2010 training, Mr. Bates asked if I could meet with him after class so that he could learn more
about the curriculum that I was presenting. Mr. Bates and I met for several hours and discussed the
training topics that were covered during the first day of the course. After I presented the 2013 training,
Mr. Bates contacted me regarding my police departments’ raid van, and how it was outfitted. Mr. Bates
was interested in viewing the raid van to create a similar concept for Tulsa County Deputies. Mr. Bates
took the initiative and traveled to Dallas, Texas to view the raid van.
Mr. Bates was very attentive and engaged in both training courses that I presented.
Sincerely,
Byron Boston, Executive Officer
