WE CELEBRATE YOUR GENEROSITY Philanthropy. It is a very personal matter. Most of us would prefer our acts of generosity remain private. Yet, leadership is not a private act. It requires public affirmation in work and action of what we value. Having earned respect as a leader in our community, you understand the unique position you have to broaden our influence in a very personal yet simple way. As a distinguished United Way Leadership Giving Circle member, you have secured your place within both Rappahannock United Way and our community as an agent of change. Your gift has the transformation ability to inspire others and will help mobilize the caring power of our community. Your support will help over 31 programs in the areas of Education, Financial Stability and Healthy Living, offering hope to those who are most vulnerable to the difficulties in life. Your donations will help us spread the word of the underserved ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) community and work collaboratively with community leaders to find solutions to their daily struggles. Finally, in addition to your generous giving, your voice as an advocate and your time as a volunteer are treasured within our organization and our community. We sincerely thank you.

To our annual corporate sponsors (listed below) we thank you for your generous sponsorship of Rappahannock United Way. Your support ensures that all of our events and fundraising efforts are completely underwritten, ensuring that our donor dollars are strictly invested in creating a community where individuals and families achieve their full potential through Education, Financial Stability and Healthy Living.

IMPACTThanks to the generous support of our Leadership Donors, Rappahannock United Way has been able to achieve extraordinary results during the past year:

EDUCATION$262,000 invested in 10 education-focused programs. These programs served over 1,770 children and adults, preparing them for success in school and giving them the skills needed for the changing workforce.

FINANCIAL STABILITY$431,980 invested in 7 financial stability-focused programs. More than 5,500 individuals benefitted from programs that help individuals sustain financial self-reliance through employment and positive financial practices, including free tax preparation and financial coaching services.

HEALTHY LIVING$414,250 invested in 14 health-focused programs. More than 7,900 individuals have participated in programs encouraging everything from infant wellness to senior health, with focus on such issues as domestic violence, nutrition, dental health and diabetes prevention.

HELPING ALICEOver the past year we have identified households in our community who work hard, earn above the federal poverty level, but not enough to afford a basic household budget. We call those households ALICE – an acronym that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. ALICE can be a new graduate just starting out in life, a young family with children, or a retiree.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE$25,000 invested in providing emergency shelter and financial assistance to local individuals and families. Some households become ALICE due to an unforeseen life event, such as a life-altering health diagnosis, or family crisis such as divorce or death. Financial assistance from RUW funds are provided with the intention of assisting these households to overcome financial crisis, prevent homelessness, and stabilize housing.
