RANCH LIF~ WITH MOD~RN ACC O P yramid Lake Pub lic Airport-Is located 2000 feet west of ranch buildings-is 1200 feet long-two runways-and can be seen six miles away in the air-Just fly over the ranch and we will drive right over to meet you.

P iute T rad in g Post-At Ranch carries Indian and Mexican silver, turquoise, pottery, baskets, buckskin and other art goods, including desert, lake, horse and cowboy paintings and etchings•, fishing equipment, films, postcards, candy, beer, soda water, tobaccos, canned goods, gas and oil. Sutcliffe post office is located here .

Ra nc h W a t er- Is pure and cool, the well and steel tank are sealed from the air, through which passes up to 100,000 gallons of water a day. The tank is cleaned and the water analized once a year, and is as pure as it tastes. H istor ica l Locat io n- The Ranch is on an old Oregon Trail, built on the site of an emigrant post, where the forty-niner's watered their cattle and oxen. Fremont and Kit Carson discovered and named Pyramid Lake in their search for a water outlet to the Pacific. Some of the West's bloodiest Indian battles were fought on the shores of this lake. The pre -historic Kwi -We fish still abounds, mum-mies antedating Egypt's were dug from the burial caves, sea serpents of huge dimensions have been seen by Indians and "-''hites, ancient stone writings exist, fossilized remains of camelops, three toed horse, and a peculiar species of lion have been discovered.

THINGS Sw immi ng-The most ideal natural swimming conditions· in the West-really the most popular activity of the Ranch. The water contains a small amount of borax which makes your skin feel soft and velvety. Too-during the summer months the surface water is calmer and warmer than that of Waikiki. Bask in the warm sunshine and become brown. No lake currents- no under tow, nor cold enough to chill-swim from April to November. Riding-A goo.d string of gentle and high stepping dude horseswith a wide diversification of riding and places to go-Dude wrangler and guide on hand-over mountain trails that only Indians have ridden-down the beach for a spirited gallop-or through the scattered sage out over the open desert. F ish ing- Seventeen varities of fish in the lake-and an abundance too--Scientists say the pelicans that breed here on Anaho Island eat ten pounds of minnows a day-which means 20,000 pelicans would consume 200,0DO pounds of fish a day-and still there is no apparent diminution of piscatorial life in Pyramid Lake-(see oth er page for fishing details).

WHERE your smallest trout, chances are, will be larger than the largest you have caught elsewhere.

WHERE it is not unusual for an angler to catch h is weight in trout in a few hours of fishing.

WHERE you will find not only the world's largest trout, but trout which are possib ly two or three times as large as any other trout in the world of the same variety.

WHERE a prize is offered each year for the season's smallest, 193fi's "small" was a 5'h pound black spotted trout, out of more than 11,000 trout, the average trout was around 14 pounds.

WHERE the smallest trout on record was a 1'4. pounder, caught in 1932 by Howard McKissick of Reno. Nevada. i

WHERE th e t r out seaso n open s t w o m onths i n adv a nc e of th e C a lifo r ni a sea son.

J. Charles Davis II-former President of Southern California Rod and Reel Club-announced over r adio K.T.M. January 17, 1934-"The record salmon taken on rod and reel (Pacific Coast) is the Tyee Club record of Dr. J. A. Wilborn, the famous lone angler, weight 63 pounds. The largest trout of record comes from Pyramid Lake, Nevada, with a weight of 64 pounds." Fishing is just as good i n front of ranch as elsewhere on lake. Fish any time of day-troll shallow or deep, it makes no difference. Use m ed ium weig-ht equipment-and fish c lose to shore for best result s, where the big trout come in for minnows. Here you will find Cutthroat, Blackspotted, German Brown, Rain bow and Steelhead trout-17 varieties of fish in a ll. Indian guides with motor boats await you at $1.00 an hour. When desired we will make boat reservations for our guests. Indians require $2.00 boat deposi t. State license, $1.50 for Nevadans, $3.00 p er season for out of staters. R eservation permit, 50c a daY. The entire lake fleet of Indian motorboats is usually docked in f r ont of the Ranch. Just think of it! One motorboat to approximately every 25 square miles of lake surface. It doesn't seem reasonable that this lake would ever be fished out-for the Indians own the lake and the land around it-all except this "squatters rights" land owned by the Pyramid Lake D u de Ranch. Pop Warner (football coach ) " to think of a ll the fis h ing I've done and only now found Pyramid Lake." ' Fishing permits sold by t h e Indians at the Ranch.
