Hot, Hot, Hot but I'm not complaining--Great time for sitting in the air conditioning and sewing away or for floating in the swimming pool! A little bit of both makes for a fun and productive sum-mer!! As I am writing this, we have all 4 of our grandkids for the week and will take them back to Chicago for the 4th, so I am getting in more time crafting, bowling, and swimming and very little time sewing!! I hope you all are having a great summer and doing what you enjoy! Summer is speed-ing by! See you soon! Donna Brattin, President
Donna’s Dewdrops!
Thanks for the terrific response on sew-ing blocks. Please bring the finished blocks to the July meeting. Jan Kramme, Scrap Quilt Chair
The Opportunity Quilt is complete. Hope you all like it. The pattern is Coastal Lily by Minick and Simpson. Des-perate Quilters donated all the fabric and Julia Quiltoff quilted it. Members of the guild are asked to sell at least one packet of tickets (24), $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00, but sell as many as you like. The one who sells the most tickets get their membership paid for the next year. Please pick up your tickets at the next meeting. Thank you! Joann Borchelt

2018 UPCOMING PROGRAMS: Our program speaker for July will be Trisch Price from Hadley Street Quilts. Her talk will be about Tree of Life Quilts. This lecture begins with the exploration of many interpretations of Tree of Life quilts from historical to traditional to contemporary to art. She will talk about designing quilts in a series. Many examples of more modern interpretations of Tree of Life quilts are shown along with how to take a design and use it as a basis to move in a different direc-tion. Our August program will be Marci Hanker and Pam Peugh from our sister guild, Nighttime Needlers. They will have a trunk show of their Crazy Quilts. I also have a message from last month’s speaker, Ann Say, with a few things she forgot to mention: Greetings Kapa Aikane’s (Quilt Friends) What a great time I had at your guild meeting last month. I always love a gathering of quilters. On the way back to teaching that afternoon, I was looking forward to showing the students all the donations and telling them about the morning. I also realized the things I forgot to talk about, both with the Hawaiian Quilts and the Once We Were Refu-gees projects. Hawaiian Quilts – forgot to share that they are quilted with a ripple stitch radiating out from the center medallion. The quilts are not marked for quilting but rather quilted the width of the quilters little finger in the ripple stitch. Once We Were Refugees – forgot to mention that on graduation day, each student takes home the sewing machine they learned on, an iron, ironing board, new scissors, notions and at least 10 yards of fabric to begin sewing at home. The students that helped me un-load the car have already selected favorite fabrics for the fabric give away from your do-nations. The sewing machines will be serviced by our volunteers and set up for the next class that begins, August 14. The graduate students are encouraged to come to an inter-mediate class on Wednesday’s, where they can learn new things and select more fabric and supplies to be used at home. Your generosity is so important to making this program a success. In lives that continue to be faced with struggles as they miss their homeland and adjust to living in a new country and culture, your donations brighten their days and tell them that someone cares. Thank you so much, Ann Say Robbin Musgrave, Program Chair

The meeting was called to order by Jean Newton at 6:30pm. Committee Chairs gave their updates; Phyllis-signs Phyllis went over several options for street signs announcing the quilt show in front of the Salvation Army building during our show in September. After a good discussion it was decided by the group to have her pur-chase 2 vinyl signs measuring approximately 48" x 30" and will be placed perpendicular to the road at the property edges. She will also confer with the Salvation Army the request of placement. Trish- She and Vicki will get together and make the computer cards for the quilt show quilts. Vicki will be at the September meeting to help fold the quilts into the pillow cases. Celeste and Maryann- boutique Everything is going well for the show. The Nite Time volunteer is a great help. They will take donations up un-til the day before the show. No donations on show day! Please find out if what we have remaining after the show can be donated to the S.A. Jean gave them the vinyl signs the guild already had in storage for the inside of the show. Vicki-set up An order has been placed to more rails for $600. Judy-publicity Asked group if she can mail 1 oz. of bookmarks to area quilt shops. It was also suggested she send some to ar-ea guilds as well. She will try to get an announcement made on local TV the days of the show and will talk to the nearby fast food places to add the show to their marquees. She will order another 1,000 bookmarks. Roberta reporting for Joy- We have 4 remaining spots open for vendors. Roberta-Heirloom quilt special display The printing and teaching of the “D” Sleeve went well during the 2 guild meetings. 2018 SILENT AUCTION NEWS: We need donations submitted at the July meeting so we can categorize before the August meeting where guild members will vote for their favorite in each category and ribbons will be awarded for each category. For judging, please be sure your name is on the back of your dona-tion when submitted.
We need items for the following categories:
Miniature Quilts – no side to exceed 24 inches
Wall Hangings – no side larger than 40 inches
Table Toppers/Runners
Baby Quilts – maximum size 45” x 50”
We request that panel/cheater cloth only be used if embellished.

Your donations will be accepted at each quilt meeting by Helen Tidics or Rita Fenn or Judy Mulvey.
Kaleidoscope of Color Quilt Show 2018
The Quilt Show is coming soon! We need your quilts for display. I hope all of us are working on quilts that will be such an important part of the Quilt Show!
1. Please complete the registration form for each quilt you wish to enter. It is very important that you take time to complete the form, giving as much detail as possible.
2. Be sure to include accurate dimensions to help us in creating the display layout.
3. The completed Quilt Registration Form must be turned in at the July Guild Meetings. (Quilts will be received in September)
4. Please check the signup sheet board and fill in where you would like to work. It takes the entire guild to make this show a success.
5. If you have a pick up or large van, we need 5-6 vehicles on Wednesday to bring equipment from the storage unit and again on Saturday to return things to the storage unit.
6. Our Boutique workers are really putting a lot into the show. If you can help, they can use you.
7. Bring items for the Silent Auction, too – some great items have been given already!
8. Remember the special exhibit quilt forms also – please bring them in July, too.
