Activity Tracking and FeaturesSome features require a paired smartphone.Time and date: Displays the current time and

date. The device updates the time and datewhen you synchronize your device with asmartphone.

Activity tracking: Tracks your daily step count,floors climbed, distance traveled, calories,

and intensity minutes. The move bardisplays the amount of time you areinactive.

Goals: Displays your progress toward youractivity goals. The device learns andproposes a new step goal for you eachday. You can customize goals for dailysteps, daily floors climbed, and weeklyintensity minutes using your GarminConnect™ account.

Heart rate: Displays your current heart rate andseven-day average resting heart rate inbeats per minute (bpm).

Notifications: Alerts you to notifications fromyour smartphone, including calls, texts,social network updates, and more, basedon your smartphone notification settings.

Music controls: Provides controls for themusic player on your smartphone.

VIRB® remote: Provides remote controls for apaired VIRB action camera.

Pairing Your SmartphoneYou should connect your vívosmart HR deviceto a smartphone to access the full features ofthe device.TIP: You can also set up the device on yourcomputer using the Garmin Express™

application.NOTE: Unlike other Bluetooth® devices that arepaired from the Bluetooth settings on yoursmartphone, your vívosmart HR device must bepaired directly through the Garmin ConnectMobile app.

1 Go to www.garminconnect.com/vivosmartHR, and follow the on-screeninstructions to download the GarminConnect Mobile app.

2 Select an option:• During the initial setup, follow the on-

screen instructions to pair your devicewith your smartphone.

• If you did not pair your device duringthe initial setup, press the device key toview the menu, and select > PairSmartphone.

3 Open the Garmin Connect Mobile app, andfollow the on-screen instructions.

Your device automatically synchronizes withthe Garmin Connect Mobile app periodically.Wearing the Device and Heart Rate• Wear the vívosmart HR device above your

wrist bone.NOTE: The device should be snug butcomfortable, and it should not move whilerunning.

• Do not damage the heart rate sensor onthe back of the device.

• See the owner's manual for moreinformation about wrist-based heart rate.
