Our students have adapted remarkably well, accepng constant change and a new way of learning with energy and enthusiasm: Truly tenacious. We are very proud of them! I would also like to thank our staff, teaching and support staff alike, who adapted so brilliantly to blended learning: An excellent demonstraon of their scholarship and tenacity. All year staff have, without excepon, gone the extra mile, ensuring our students have had a posive learning experience, in school or at home. This has, of course, not been easy for many, who have experienced the worst of COVID. Updated DfE operaonal guidance was shared with schools last week and confirms that we can all return to some degree of normality in September. Over the course of this year we have been discussing and debang our House names coinciding with our fiſtieth anniversary. The House system forms an integral part of our community and is in many ways quite unique. I am delighted to announce our new House names from September, selected by our school community: Aenborough (Auden); Franklin (Green); Seacole (Sutherland) and Turing (Newton). Many of our staff leavers this year have given years of dedicated service and have collecvely made an outstanding contribuon to Queensand its students. I would like to wish them the best of luck for the future. I would especially like to thank Chrisan Alecock; Charloe Curness-Blane; Zoe Francis; Andrew Jones; Ronan Jones; Neil OMaonaigh-Lennon; Charloe Stanley; Jim Titmuss and Steven Walsh. We also say goodbye to Gill Cregan, who reres aſter 25 years at Queens’. I would personally like to wish all of our learners the very best of luck in the summer and connued success in the future. Results days are much earlier this year and once again will be held virtually. A Level students will receive their results on Tuesday 10 th August and GCSE students on Thursday 12 th August. Staff will be available online to help students make an informed choice about the next stage of their learning journey. I wish you all a safe and well summer break and I very much look forward to working with you all again in the autumn term. Queens’ School Newsletter

As we approach the end of another challenging year, I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank you for the support you have given to the school during these unprecedented times. Our students have adapted remarkably well, accepting constant change and a new way of learning with energy and enthusiasm: Truly tenacious. We are very proud of them! I would also like to thank our staff, teaching and support staff alike, who adapted so brilliantly to blended learning: An excellent demonstration of their scholarship and tenacity. All year staff have, without exception, gone the extra mile, ensuring our students have had a positive learning experience, in school or at home. This has, of course, not been easy for many, who have experienced the worst of COVID.

Updated DfE operational guidance was shared with schools last week and confirms that we can all return to some degree of normality in September. Bubbles; self-isolation, contact tracing will not exist in the same format offering more continuity for in class student learning. The familiar Queens’ experience will, at last, return. Over the course of this year we have been discussing and debating our House names coinciding with our fiftieth anniversary. The House system forms an integral part of our community and is in many ways quite unique. I am delighted to announce our new House names from September, selected by our school community: Attenborough (Auden); Franklin (Green); Seacole (Sutherland) and Turing (Newton). Many of our staff leavers this year have given years of dedicated service and have collectively made an outstanding contribution to Queens’ and its students. I would like to wish them the best of luck for the future. I would especially like to thank Christian Alecock; Charlotte Curness-Blane; Zoe Francis; Andrew Jones; Ronan Jones; Neil O’Maonaigh-Lennon; Charlotte Stanley; Jim Titmuss and Steven Walsh. We also say goodbye to Gill Cregan, who retires after 25 years at Queens’. I would personally like to wish all of our learners the very best of luck in the summer and continued success in the future. Results days are much earlier this year and once again will be held virtually. A Level students will receive their results on Tuesday 10th August and GCSE students on Thursday 12th August. Staff will be available online to help students make an informed choice about the next stage of their learning journey. I wish you all a safe and well summer break and I very much look forward to working with you all again in the autumn term. Jonathan Morrell Headteacher

The final day of the year was once again a non-uniform day for students. We encourage students to donate £2 to help raise funds for House charities and the QPA (Queens’ Parents’ Association). Previous campaigns by the QPA have funded new bench-es in the school playground/fields, drama props, table tennis tables, chess sets for the very popular Chess Club and specialist Maths calculators amongst other key purchases. The Queens’ Parents’ Association aims to raise funds to help to provide the best possible resources, facilities and opportunities for the benefit of all students at Queens’ School, that might otherwise not be purchased or available due to the budget restrictions currently facing all schools. Due to COVID restrictions we were not handling cash in school so the collection pots were ‘hands free’, you will be informed about the amount collected in the next newsletter. More information on the QPA can be found here: http://www.queens.herts.sch.uk/qpa/ including details on how you can help raise money when making online purchases via the following site: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/qpa/

The other half of the donated funds will be split between the four Houses and go towards the nominated House charities.
