A SESSION ON PEER PRESSURE

O n Wednesday 30 January 2015, the

students of Grades 6 to 10 were

ushered to the secondary library for a

session organized by MED MONDIAL,

our in-house medical service. An

interactive session and a power point

presentation on „Peer Pressure’ were

organized by Ms. Prachita Dixit, a

renowned child psychologist. Ms. Dixit

ensured that she will interact with the

students by staging various role plays to

illustrate what is peer pressure. She

embellished the fact that the word

pressure has to come to have negative

concoctions, whereas in reality pressure

can indeed be a motivating factor to better us. When it came to dealing with negative peer pressure, she

advised us to follow certain ethics and ideals, whilst ensuring that we were able to say a “no” confidently!

She also discussed with how to combat peer pressure by giving alternative options to the ones being forced

upon us. We were all „reflective‟ and by the end of her presentation, we understood what it truly meant to

be „caring‟. We thank Ms. Dixit for sharing her knowledge with us!

- Neeraja Chemburkar

Grade 10

We got an opportunity to interact with

the MED MONDIAL team to know

more about peer pressure. How an

individual should tackle peer pressure

was what I learned and I confidently

make use of it in times of need. I hope

to attend many more sessions like

this. I am among the lucky ones to get

tips on how to even tackle bullying!

Thank you MED MONDIAL team

and of course my school!

The session we had was helpful because peer pressure is a very common problem amongst teenagers and

many have no idea how to tackle it. What I understood from the session was, “No matter what anyone says,

I should be able to think rationally”. I was able to identify that at the end of the day it is “ME” who that

matters. The role plays we did gave me a very clear idea of how to tackle complex situations. As I reflected

upon this session, I can say at any given situation, it is important to be cool and composed but it is also

important to be right.

A n assembly is when the school community, or a part of it, meets together to share aspects of life

that are of worth. It acts as a medium for communicating matters of significance from one

generation to another. Its potential to nurture a positive school ethos that stresses care for the self,
