Chamber Board Votes to Endorse School LeviesOn February 9, both the Sumner and Puyallup school districts will

have levy measures on the ballot. The Puyallup / Sumner Chamber Board of Directors voted to support both levies in an

unanimous vote at their December meeting. The levies fund the operation and maintenance activities in each new district. The

levies would not create a new tax and are for maintaining current levels of service, not new building projects. Citing the connection between a healthy school system and a community's economic

prosperity, the Board voted to endorse both levies and encourages the business community to support schools on

February 9th.

A fourth-generation jeweler, Amy Johnson of Johnson Jewelers has been a member of the Puyallup/ Sumner Chamber of Commerce for several years. Amy has worked full time at the family business since graduating from the University of Washington (B.A., Comparative History of Ideas) in 1995. She serves on both the VAU and PMSA boards, has a love for the downtown Puyallup community, and is excited about opportunities to further the ne arts in our area. Earlier this year, she received the 2008 John Porter Memorial Award, along with her mother, Marilee Johnson. Following college, she completed her studies with the Gemological Institute of America, earning the title Graduate Gemologist in 1999. After Johnson Jewelers was elected into the American Gem Society in 2007, Amy pursued further education, and is currently the only Certied Gemologist in the Puyallup-Tacoma area. As an independent jeweler, her job covers everything from managing their on-site repair/manufacturing shop, designing jewelry, and of course general business management. Membership in the Chamber provides great support and new ideas for running the business.

My name is Pam Rich and I am the owner of Pam’s Bookkeeping Service. After over 30 years working for someone else, I decided it was time to spread my wings and y solo. I work out of my home in Frederickson which keeps my overhead down and allows me to oer my services for extremely reasonable rates. I have been certied by both the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers and Universal Accounting Center. In addition to my bookkeeping and payroll services, I am the Finance Ocer for American Legion Parkland Post 2 and an independent associate with Pre-paid Legal Services.
