ansgrohe and Russ Wheeler recently donated showerheads

for Forsyth County middle and high schools. These shower heads will not only reduce the amount of water used at each location, but through advanced technolo-gy they will feel better than what the school system cur-rently has available.

These showerheads are top of the line, and due to budgetary restr ict ions they’re not something the system could have pur-

chased. The installation of the new showerheads will save money on both water and sewer at all middle and high schools.

Hansgrohe also has donated 36 shower heads for all the schools’ teachers of the year and three kitch-en faucets  to the system’s three finalists. They contin-

ue to be instrumental in the success of the STEM Academy a t Fo r sy th Central High School. Their support and continued sponsorships of various Forsyth County Schools programs is greatly appreci-ated. Thanks to all our friends and partners at Hansgrohe.

Manufacturing sector to grow, experts believe B

or quite some time many of our nation’s largest companies have turned to China as a

resource for manufacturing their products. Although this strategy has been profitable for many businesses, it has also caused local laborers to wonder if manufacturing jobs will ever return back the United States.

According to several recent stud-ies, outsourced manufacturing jobs may return back to the U.S. market in 2013.

According to James Fallows and Charles Fishman of The Atlantic, “the future of industry is in America.” Fallows and Fishman sug-gest that many companies are bring-ing their jobs back to the United States because of such factors as:

• Wages in China are rising at a rate of 18 percent per year;

• Increases in oil prices are causing shipping to become a costly exercise; and

• China’s lenient copyright laws create a risk that confidential prod-ucts can be duplicated.

As indicated by Gary P. Pisano and Willy C. Shih of The Harvard

Business Review, these factors are causing CEO’s to make “better sourcing decisions that will reinvigo-rate America’s innovation-driven economy.”

The manufacturing sector in Forsyth County and the city of Cumming are already seeing signs of revitalization. According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Georgia Facts Database, there are currently over 515 manufacturing facilities located in Forsyth County.

“Our data shows that nearly 78 percent of the companies that expanded their businesses in 2012 were from the manufacturing sector,” said chamber Vice President of Economic Development Randall Toussaint. “These companies are col-lectively projected to create over 200 new jobs within our community.”

Acco rd ing t o t he Georg i a D e p a r t m e n t o f E c o n o m i c Development, Forsyth County’s expansion projects accounted for nearly 40 percent of the expansion projects that took place within the northeast region of Georgia in 2012.
