REUNION
Should We Have A Reunion?
This Could Be The Start of Something Big
Committee Members

Reunions Can Be Scary!!
The scary part about reunions is that no
matter what you have accomplished, or
have not accomplished in your life, every
single person at the reunion is going to see
you as the same person you were in high
school. We need to realize that we are all
64+ years old, and we don’t need to
impress anyone or make excuses. Most of
us were together for the most formative
years of our lives. If we approach a reunion
as a return to our roots and enjoy sharing
with old friends this can be a wonderful
experience. Let’s lighten up and relax!!!
Should we do it???
Reunions Are Hard Work!!
The committee decided that before we go too far and
invest a lot of work and expense, we need to hear
from you, the Alumni of Prospect Valley High School.
Attached you will find a brief questionnaire regarding
your thoughts and comments. Please answer the
questions on the questionnaire and return to Sherry.
There is a list of class members for 1956-61 on page 2.
We have been able to locate most but need additional
information on some members listed on page 3. Please
help us with clues that may expedite the searching
process. Please call or email any committee member
with information. Thanks.

PVHS Newsletters If we have enough people interested in a reunion
we will put out several more newsletters. These
will include pictures and information. This first
newsletter features basic information with
pictures of the classes in elementary school. As we
progress toward the reunion, we will feature more
detailed information with pictures of classes in
high school. We welcome short articles and
pictures from former students to be featured in
the newsletters. Please keep articles geared
toward classmates or funny things that happened
in high school. Please, no soap box articles
expressing your political or religious viewpoints.
Those articles should be sent to Bill O’Reilly at
Fox News.
Questionnaire Don’t forget to fill out the questionnaire
regarding a proposed reunion. Please return
it by June 15th. If you have an e-mail address
please include it on the form. We are also looking
for someone who can help in creating a web-site
for the reunion
Donations If you would like to contribute to the PVHS Reunion Fund, here's how! Send your contribu-tions to the Reunion Treasurer, Marilyn Sargent-Haffner. Marilyn's address is located on the front page of this newsletter. We will list contributors in the class reunion promotional materials and programs in exchange for your donations. Any amount will be accepted and used strictly for the start-up expenses related to the reunion. Funds will be used for such things as postage, materi-als, and reunion supplies. You will become a member of the prestigious “Cardinal Club” with all the honors and privileges pertaining thereto. (Doesn’t that sound good?)
Ten Tips to Stay Young Forever
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age,
weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them.
That is why you pay them.
2. Keep only cheerful friends.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer,
crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle.
“An idle mind is the devil’s workshop……And the
devil’s name is Alzheimer’s!”
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for
breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with you your entire life, is
yourself. LIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love whether it’s
family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, what-
ever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to
the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where
the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every
opportunity.

REUNIONS ARE A
WONDERFUL TIME
Reunions are a wonderful time to renew old friend-
ships and make new ones. We are hoping all of you
will be as excited as we are. I helped host the 79th
Annual Sargent Family Reunion in Greeley last sum-
mer. There were 99 family members from 20 states
present. What a fun time. REUNIONS ARE GREAT,
SO JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON FOR THE PVHS
REUNION.
I am anxious to hear all about your lives since high
school. I have had a busy full life since graduation.
Raising 3 children and working 29 years for Brighton
School District as a secretary kept me busy. I am now
enjoying retirement along with my 5 living grandkids
and working part time for “Fun Money”. I lost my
father and brother, Gary – class of ’57 – in 1986. My
mother passed away July of 2004. She spoke often of
the fun she had as a sponsor on the Senior Trip for the
class of 1957. Then in January of 2005 my 18 year old
grandson, Jeff, died of bone cancer. Through all these
good and bad times, I have tried to keep a positive
attitude. I have learned a smile and faith will get you
through the toughest situation. Also, a good friend who
will listen.
The other evening, Sherry and I were reading my old
autograph books from my 4 years in high school. What
fun!!! The “Words of Wisdom” were great. We had
some good laughs and some tears. I could go on and
on about memories, BUT COME TO THE REUNION
AND I WILL SHARE IN PERSON.
You know the expression, “We have to get together for
lunch sometime”. This was a common practice in my
life. Well a few years ago, after making this comment
to each other, Sherry and I decided to set a time for
lunch and we have been having a lot of fun since that
day. WELL HOW ABOUT MAKING A DATE WITH
THE REUNION COMMITTEE. Just do it and it will
be the beginning of more fun in your lives. If you don’t
make a commitment for this, you will say later, “I
should have kept the date”. Old friendships are special
and new ones are great.
When we, the class of 1958, had our 20th reunion, we
were laughing about our class motto.
“BUILD FOR CHARACTER, NOT FOR FAME.” At
that time we decided that we had a lot of characters but
no famous people. It is hard to be-
lieve that it is the 50th reunion for my
class.
Let’s start a tradition. COME ONE
COME ALL TO THE PVHS
REUNION FOR THE
CLASSES OF 1956 THROUGH
1961. Marilyn Sargent-Haffner

and have a Ball”.
Look Who I Found In California
Over the Weekend!! By George Davis
The guy on the left looks like Ted a.k.a. Teddy
Zimbelman, Class of 1961. Actually, I located
Ted and made contact with him several weeks
ago.
We agreed to
meet for
lunch. Of
course some
guidelines
were estab-
lished before
such a meeting
would take
place. The
first point was
the location of
the restaurant and the second negotiation
point was that Ted would buy me lunch. As it
turned out he agreed on all the conditions be-
fore the meeting. Seriously, it was kind of a
weird feeling as my wife and I waited for him.
I thought to myself, this is kind of dumb, I
have not seen this guy since 1960 and I’m sup-
pose to recognize him, I don’t think so. As it
turned out he walked into the restaurant and
looked around. I looked up and saw his Dad
standing there. It must be Ted!! I jumped up
with all the confidence I could muster and
said, “Hi Ted, I would have recognized you
anywhere”. It is somewhat of a strange feel-
ing when you first see someone for the first
time in forty-seven years. It turned out great
and we had a wonderful time catching up. Ted
said to tell everyone “Hello”, and he can’t wait
to travel to Colorado in September 2008 and
attend the reunion.

Sherry recalls our first grade class starting in
the basement of the church. We then moved
to quonset hut addition sometime in 1948.
