Public Works Streets & Parks DEPARTMENT: Parks and Public Works ACCOUNTABLE TO: Public Works Operation Foreman POSITION STATUS: Regular Full-Time (Non-Exempt; Union) JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, this position will perform maintenance tasks and operate maintenance equipment used in the maintenance of streets, parks, and other public facilities of the City. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plow and ice control operations of sidewalks, streets, parking lots, and trails.

2. Installs and repairs signs and barricades. Lay out and apply street traffic markings with various types of paint, machinery, and stencils.

3. Performs crack sealing, patching on streets, trails, and parking lots.

4. Hauls materials manually and/or using equipment.

5. Picks up litter and empties trash containers on City and public land.

6. Maintains irrigation systems within the park system and other public areas.

7. Maintains turf including mowing, fertilizing, spraying, and aerating.

8. Installs, repairs, and maintains outdoor ice rinks.

9. Maintains plants, trees, shrubs, and plant care projects and transplants trees.

10. Prepares ground for seed, sod and plantings.

11. Performs cemetery maintenance including digging graves.

12. Maintains municipal buildings and grounds.

13. Operates equipment including but not limited to loaders, backhoes, skid steers, sweepers, mowers, forklifts, compressors, sprayers, heavy trucks etc.

good functioning order, including cleaning showers, restrooms, floors and carpets, bleacher area, glass, removing trash and snow removal.

2. Directs work of part-time staff during scheduled shift. 3. Responsible for daily room rental set up in community rooms and locker room areas. 4. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written assignments. Ability to operate ice maintenance equipment. Knowledge of material, methods, products and techniques used to successfully maintain City equipment. Knowledge of occupational safety precautions necessary to conduct assigned activities safely. QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or G.E.D. Position requires a valid "Class D" driver’s license upon employment and must obtain a CDL "Class B" drivers license within six (6) months of hire date. Must be available to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Skilled in the use of tools, and material commonly used in building cleaning and light maintenance. Considerable amount of public contact requiring patience and, in some cases, firm direction and control to enforce rules and regulation. Good judgement is a must. Ability to work under little direction.
