Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at Boulder Creek Elementary. We are thrilled to have you as a member of
the Boulder Creek PTO and look forward to building a better future with you for our students.
We have some very exciting news. Based on overwhelming requests from our parents, the PTO will be partnering
with Mrs. Molzhon and staff towards bringing S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum at
Boulder Creek Elementary.
“Science Foundation Arizona defines STEM as “an integrated, interdisciplinary
approach to learning that provides hands-on and relevant learning experiences for
students. STEM teaching and learning goes beyond the mere transfer of knowledge. It
engages students and equips them with critical thinking, problem solving, creative and
collaborative skills, and ultimately establishes connections between the school,
workplace, community and the global economy. STEM also helps students understand
and apply math and science content, the foundations for success in college and careers.”
In addition to working toward bringing new educational opportunities to BCES, the PTO in conjunction with the
funding from our BCES families and the Paradise Valley School District, implemented some considerable playground
improvements. Phase I of those improvements include: rubberized flooring, additional swing sets, climbing
apparatus, Gaga Ball court, seating and a covered patio for outside classroom lessons. We encourage you to visit
BCES and see your student(s) at work and play.
We would like you to please take a few minutes to read through this handbook. We have included important
information regarding volunteer opportunities, events and programs/initiatives that your dollars ultimately fund.
We hope you find the information in this handbook helpful.
PTO is committed to providing the best experience for Boulder Creek Elementary School, students, staff and
families. With your input, participation and support we can accomplish that goal together. We look forward to
working together toward a great 2016-2017 school year!
