UnauthorizeduseofthesolenoidcoilAC10maybedangeroustopeople,nearbyequipmentandtheenvironment.
ThesolenoidcoilAC10isusedtoactivatevalveswhichcontrolthegaseousorliquidmedia.
▶ AvalvecontrolledbythesolenoidcoilAC10maybeusedsolelyforthemediaspecifiedinthedatasheetandforuseinexplosiongroupIICcategory2Gand/orexplosiongroupIIICcategory2G,andtemperatureclassT4,T5orT6(refertothespecificationsonthetypelabelforexplosion-riskareas).
▶ Thesolenoidcoilmaybeusedonlyfortheapplicationsdesignatedinchapter“6Applicationconditionsofthedevices”andincon-junctionwiththird-partydevicesandcomponentsrecommendedandauthorizedbyBürkert.
▶ TheappliedprotectionclassisencapsulationEx“m”forcoilswithcableconnection.
▶ The ignitionprotectiontypefor theoptionallymountedterminalboxis“e”forgasand“t”fordust.

2.1 Explosion protection approval
TheexplosionprotectionapprovalisonlyvalidifyouusethemodulesandcomponentsauthorizedbyBürkert,asdescribedintheseoperatinginstructions.ThesolenoidcoilAC10maybeusedonlyincombinationwiththevalvetypesreleasedbyBürkert,otherwisetheexplosionprotectionapprovalwillbeterminated.Ifyoumakeunauthorizedchangestothesystem,themodulesorcomponents,theexplosionprotectionapprovalwillalsobevoid.EC-typeexaminationcertificateandIECExcertificatewereissuedbyPTB(PhysikalischTechnischeBunde-sanstalt)respectivelyBureauVeritas

3 BASIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Thesolenoidcoilcangetveryhotduringlong-termoperation.▶ Keepthedeviceawayfromhighlyflammablesubstancesandmediaanddonottouchthedevicewithbarehands.

Thesolenoidcoilandvalvebodyformaclosedsystemafterinstallation.Whenusedinexplosion-riskareas,thereisariskofexplosionifthesystemisopenedintheoperatingstate.

General information
▶ Repairsmayonlybeperformedbythemanufacturer.▶ The device must not be exposed to any mechanical and/orthermalloadswhichexceedthelimitsspecifiedintheoperatinginstructions.
▶ Beforeopeningtheterminalbox,disconnectthepowersupply.
Generalhazardoussituations.
Topreventinjury,ensure:▶ Securesystem/equipmentagainstunintentionalactivation.▶ Observethedirectionofflowduringinstallation.▶ After an interruption in thepower supply or pneumatic supply,ensure that theprocess is restarted in adefinedor controlledmanner.

Product description
5.2 Solenoid coil with cable outlet
ThesolenoidcoiltypeAC10isanelectromagneticvalveactuatorforvariousBürkertvalves.Asaso-calledtop-mountedcoil,itisseparated100%fromthevalve.Thevalveisaclosedsystemevenifthecoilisremoved.
Thesolenoidcoilconsistsof:
• coilwinding,
• coilhousing(madefromepoxy),
• electricalconnectioncable,
• bridgerectifier.
Alternatingcurrentordirectcurrentcontrolispossible.
ThesolenoidcoiltypeAC10isavailableinarangeofratingsdistributedacross2framesizes.Theinterfacebetweenthecoilandvalveisiden-ticalforbothframesizes.
Thecoilisplacedoverthecoreguidetubeofthevalveandattachedwithanut.Itispositivelylockedtopreventturningrelativetothevalve.
Theelectricalconnectioncableexitsperpendicular to thecoil axis.Thecableispermanentlyintegratedinthecoil.Theunionnutisnotdesignedtoberemoved.
Anelectricalcontactismadebetweenthemetalcomponentsofthevalveandthecoilattheinterfacebetweenthecoilandthevalve.Allmetalcomponentsmustbegroundedviatheprotectiveconductorintheconnectioncable.
5.3 Solenoid coil with terminal box
Thedesignofthesolenoidcoil is identicaltothedescriptionunder“5.2”, however a terminal box is also installed here (see “Fig. 2”).The terminal box is certified with the Type Examination CertificatePTB15ATEX1011UorIECExPTB15.0037U.
The cable outlet direction can be selected according to the orderrequirements. The outlet direction can be changed subsequently,howeverthisrequiresaspecialtool1).Optionallyaconnectionsetisenclosedforadditionalpotentialequalization;todothis,observethespecificationsinchapter“8.2”.
OptionallyaequipmentprotectionfuseofType1058canbeintegratedintheterminalbox.

6 APPLICATION CONDITIONS OF THE DEVICES
6.1 Special conditions
6.1.1 Avoiding build-up of electrostatic charge
WARNING!
Riskofexplosionduetoelectrostaticdischarge.
Intheeventofasuddendischargefromelectrostaticallychargeddevicesorindividuals,thereisariskofanexplosionintheexplosion-riskarea.
▶ Takesuitablemeasurestoensurethatnoelectrostaticdischargescanbuildupintheexplosion-riskarea.
▶ Donotusethedeviceinareaswheretherearepowerfulcharge-generatingprocesses,mechanicalreamingandcuttingprocesses,thesprayingofelectrons(e.g.inthevicinityofelectrostaticcoatingequipment)aswellaspneumaticallyconveyeddust.
▶ Cleanthedevicesurfacebygentlywipingitwithadamporanti-staticclothonly.
6.1.2 Short-circuit protection
Afuse(max.3xIbinaccordancewithIEC60127-2-1)correspondingtotheratedcurrentmustbeconnectedaheadofeverysolenoidtoprotectagainstshortcircuits.
Inthecaseoftheversionwithaterminalbox,therearedeviceswhichalreadyhavethisfuseintegrated.
• Ifthemagnethasverylowratedcurrents,thefusewiththelowestcurrentvalueaccordingtothestatedIECstandardisadequate.Thisfusemustbeconnectedseparatelyupstream.
• The rated fusevoltagehas tobe thesameasorhigher than thespecifiednominalvoltageofthesolenoid.Theratedfusevalue isspecifiedonthetypelabel(seechapter“7.4”).
• Theinterruptionratingofthefuselinkmustbethesameasorhigherthanthemaximumshort-circuitcurrenttobeacceptedattheinstal-lationsite(usually1500A).
6.1.3 Block assembly
Valveblocksarepreferablymadeupsothatallunitshavethesamecoilpowerconsumption.Ifdifferentcoilpowerconsumptionvaluesareusedinasinglevalveblock,thenthetechnicaldataforthecoilwiththehighestpowerratingmustbeusedtodeterminethetemperatureclass.Inthiscasetheambienttemperaturemustbenohigherthan+40°C.

6.2 Operating conditions
Thevalveprovidesacoolingfunctionforthesolenoidcoil.Thesolenoidcoilmaynotbeoperatedwithoutavalve.Thevalvebodymustmeetthefollowingrequirements:

• Minimumdimensions32mmx32mmx10mm
Alargervalvebodywithahigherheat-dissipatingcapabilitycanbeusedatanytime.
Thesolenoidcoilsdesignedforindividualinstallationmaynotbeusedforblockassembly.
Thesolenoidcoilsdesignedforblockassemblyaresuitableforbothblockassemblyandforindividualinstallation.
6.3 Operating temperature range
Observetheoperatingtemperaturerangespecifiedintheelectricaldataforalltypes.

8.2 External grounding connection for terminal box
If solenoid coils feature a terminal box, connection terminals areenclosedfortheexternalgroundingconnection.
If thepotentialequalization isnot tobeconnectedbyapipelineorby theuseofaplastic fitting, theconnectioncanbemadevia theexternalgroundingconnection.Itsuseisthereforeoptionalandmustbeassessedbytheoperator.
Theconnectioncapacityoftheringcablelugis4-6mm2.Thecon-nectionismadeasshownin“Fig.8”.
