Few of us really consider the psychology of colors when we start thinking about the design of a room. If you are like most people you tend to think of colors you like first rather than how they might make you feel, but the psychology of colors is actually quite important. Recently I came across a very interesting infographic explaining how certain colors make you feel, and where they might best be used.

Psychology of Colors In Interior DesignFew of us really consider the psychology of colors when we start thinking about the design of a room. If you are like most people you tend to think of colors you like first rather than how they might make you feel, but the psychology of colors is actually quite important. Recently I came across a very interesting infographic explaining how certain colors make you feel, and where they might best be used.

Trying to lose weight? You may want to avoid red…

Need to de-stress after work? Try painting your room green…

In an ideal world we could go with an entire scheme in the color that would make us feel good, but this may not always suit your tastes or budget. One of the easiest ways to introduce some of the color you love to the room without overwhelming it is to use color on your window shades and tie that in with a few accents. Say you love your royal purple bedroom but you want the healing and restful properties of green, with your green shades you could also toss in a complimentary green throw, a few decorative pillows, and perhaps a green vase or two to tie the design together.
