PSS 5000 is designed to provide oilcompanies with the flexibility to mixPOS and forecourt equipment of anybrand and make. This means thatthe oil company can combine anyPOS system with dispensers frome.g. Gilbarco, Wayne or Tokheim.

As a system component in the POSenvironment, PSS 5000 overcomesthe complex differences between asupermarket and a petrol station,integrating control of all types offorecourt equipment with the POS,BOS and head office systems.

PSS 5000 is more than a forecourtinterface and a connection box. Italso includes the software applica-tion, which handles the businesslogic for controlling the petrol stationforecourt. This means that the POSdraws entirely on the experience andknowledge of Doms and therefore onlyneeds to do little work in this area.

More than 60 POS suppliers havealready interfaced PSS 5000.

Matches all petrol stations,regardless of design and size

PSS 5000 is fully modular in terms ofhardware and software. This enablese.g. a small system, handling onePOS terminal and one type of pumpto be upgraded to a complexsystem, capable of handling an

unmanned site with a card serverand pumps from different manu-facturers, together with a price poleand a payment terminal.

IFSF support

Since 1996 PSS 5000 has imple-mented interfaces to the existingIFSF protocols for pumps, pricepoles and tank gauges.

All in one box

Besides functioning as a forecourtcontroller, the PSS 5000 hardwarealso acts as an EMC and LVD appro-ved connection box for the wiring ofthe forecourt. This means that allcables from POS, BOS and the forecourt can be connected in the controller box.

Via the host interface wet stock data can be collected in next to real-time fromPSS 5000.This could be from a mixture of tank gauges.

Remote Service Facilities

Each controller contains an embeddedweb server. It is a cost and time redu-cing feature for maintenance and confi-guration, both on-site and remote.

• Ensures that technicians are onlysent to the site when required.

• Remote diagnostics can beconducted via the Internet and byprofessionals

• Software uploads and downloads ofboth application and configuration.

A feature of the web sever is the error andevent log from all forecourt devices.

A feature of the web server is the facility tolog communication with all POS and fore-court devices connected. This is a very effi-cient tool for diagnostics and trouble-shoo-ting.

Optional host interface for dataand alarm collection

PSS 5000 is ideal as data provider to host systems such asalarm centrals or delivery planningsystems. It has an XML basedinterface and collects data andalarms from all the connected forecourt equipment

Reliability at low cost

PSS 5000 is a proven high-perfor-mance embedded system offeringfast transaction handling and a lowfailure rate. Compared to a PC-based system, PSS 5000 ensuresa stable system for continuousoperation at low cost.

Approvals and compliance

PSS 5000 has been designed tocomply with the different W&MApprovals around the world. TheW&M part is isolated in a specialmodule. This means that the con-troller can be updated with newfunctionality without the need of anew approval.

W&M approvals have already beenissued in a large number of countries, and as the first forecourtcontroller PSS 5000 was testedand deemed compliant with theOIML recommendations R-117.
