THE DELTA KAPPA SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL—FOR KEY WOMEN EDUCATORS
Achievement Awards Our first winner of the newly-created Rosebud Award is Laura Croom of Alpha Theta Chapter in District IV. The Rosebud Award honors a member who has shown outstanding service to her chapter and Psi State within her first seven years of membership. Laura has been a member for six years. She currently serves on Psi State’s Communications Committee and the 2017 State Convention Committee, where she coordinated the highly successful Tailgate Party. She plans trips for her chapter to local theater productions, visits to shut-ins or sick members, birthday celebrations, and group dinners. She is slated to be her chapter’s president for the 2018-2020 biennium.
Our first winner of the newly-created Legacy Award is Janice Cochran of Beta Epsilon Chapter in District II. The Legacy Award honors a member of 25+ years who has been a distinguished, faithful worker on the chapter and state levels. Janice has been a member for 42 years. She has served as president of her chapter for three bienniums, has published chapter newsletters quarterly for 12 years, and has been responsible for the Silent Auction for 18 years to raise scholarship monies for World Fellowship. She has served Psi State as District Director, on the Membership Committee, and is currently Chair of Expansion and Supportive Chapter Committee. She has received the Boylston Grant four times. She is described as the “glue” that keeps her chapter together.
Our Achievement Award winner for 2017 is Ann Clark of Delta Chapter. This award is the highest award a Delta Kappa Gamma member can receive. Ann is a 44-year member of DKG. She has served for 18 years as her chapter’s Orientation Chair and has been the face of her chapter to new initiates. On the state level, our recipient has served faithfully as the Executive Board Reservations Chair from 1997-2015. Her "behind the scenes" efforts helped make the Executive Board function at an optimum level of excellence. She represented the state organization and the society in a professional and helpful manner. Many new chapter presidents and committee chairs were "oriented" to Executive Board and found their first meeting rewarding due to her assistance and encouragement.

President’s Message
The 58th Georgia (Psi) State Convention was filled with fun, fellowship, remembrances, recognitions and a “Celebration of Our Impact.” Kudos to Melissa Rawlins and Judy Scarboro, convention co-chairs, and an awesome, hard-working committee: Lola Bell, Laura Croom, Dr. Hanna Fowler. Dr. Stephanie Golden, Carla Houston, Virginia McChesney, Shannon Robertson, Marilyn Tate, and Jennifer Yauck as well as a host of volunteers. I had a blast!
Every Georgia Convention Banquet ends with the installation of the newly elected Georgia Leadership Team. I was thrilled and honored to pass the gavel to 2017-19 Georgia (Psi) State President, Virginia McChesney, and the rest of the incoming Leadership Team.
I have been honored to serve as your president. The 2015-17 Leadership Team should be proud of our biennium and what has been accomplished. I am excited about the future. Thanks to everyone across the state who joined our call to “Impact Members…Impact Communities”!!

Leadership Seminar Salute For the past eight years, Psi State has benefitted from the dedication and work of Dr. Hanna Fowler and Jonnie Ghetti in identifying and developing leaders for DKG. These inspiring leaders have taken the helm and steered the ship of successful Leadership Seminars I and II serving as presenters. Through the seminars, a cadre of leaders has been created for chapter, state and international leadership. The leaders of the seminar have left a legacy of excellence. As they relinquish the job as presenters, they leave a strong crew to man the oars. Thank you, Hanna and Jonnie, for charting a course of greatness.
