•Unlike the other French town called Allemagne, which changed its name to Fleury Sur Orne in 1916 during World War I , Allemagne-en-Provence kept its name.•The inhabitants are called Armagnois / Allemagniens (not Allemands French: Germans).• The town is situated north of the Verdon River, about halfway between Manoque and the Lac du Sainte Croix , the largest reservoir in France, which forms the western end of the Verdon Gorge.

Abbaye De Montmajour

•Abbaye De Montmajour was founded in 948 in the middle of the Arles countryside.•It was built between the 10th and the 13th century.

•The Abbey is noted for its 11th-14th century graves, carved in the rock.•It was an important pilgrimage site during the Middle Ages.

•The abbey is cared for as a historic monument by the Centre des monuments nationaux.
