Sam Fisher Graduated 2011Since leaving Mandy Ellen’s, I’ve had a very busy 2 years- pretty much working non-stop. I've been lucky enough to have experienced the industry from all aspects. I've secured 2 major commercial agents, and 1 musical theatre agent. I couldn't begin to thank Mandy for all the hard work which was put in whilst I was training. As well as having the most amazing time throughout college being pushed to my limits to make me an all rounder, it's all paid off by the work I have achieved and the career I'm fulfilling. I've just secured my next job with Essence of Ireland in South Africa, playing the lead female role. I shall always be grateful for the opportunities the college gave me, and I shall always be a very proud Mandy Ellen Graduate.

Mandy Ellen is a member of the International Dance Teachers’ Association, where she holds her Associate / Licentiate and Fellowship Qualifications in Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap, Theatrecraft and Freestyle. She is also a fully-qualfied RSA Exercise to Music Teacher, Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer.

From her first dance steps at the age of three, dance and musical theatre has been a big part of Mandy's life. She has danced and studied in all genres of musical theatre and dance.

Mandy’s love and enthusiam has seen her work professionally. However, her true passion lay in teaching and management. At the tender age of 21, Mandy was Dance Studio Manager at Tudor Park Sports and Leisure Club before moving to London where she was Gym and Studio Manager at Gold's Gym, Ealing. She then went onto manage the Sports Centre Complex and Studios at Matthew Arnold School in Staines.

After successfully managing and opening studios for other companies, Mandy found the confidence to finally open her own studios. There was only one place Mandy ever wanted to have her studio and that was in her home town of Maidstone.

Mandy moved back to Maidstone where over the next couple of years she worked hard on developing, nurturing and encouraging every student that attended her school.

Mandy’s belief that 'Dance is Fun' helped her grow the school until it was big enough to move into her own premises. Her commitment soon paid off when 'The Mandy Ellen Performing Arts Studio' opened in January 2005 and in the very same year the MEPA College was founded. Mandy is proud to be a true Kentish maid being born and bred in Maidstone and so her dreams came true the day the studios opened.

Mandy now celebrates over 20 years’ teaching students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Mandy Ellen is director of Mandy Ellen Management, offering representation to graduates.

In 2012 the 'Mandy Ellen Kids Agency' opened and within the the first year saw Callum Wilsher star in 'Singing in the Rain' West End and Allanah Martin Judge as Susan Parkes in 'Billy Elliot', West End. Molly Wilson, Graduated 2013During my three years training at Mandy Ellen I feel that I had been helped to grow andlearn so much, not only about myself but others too. Being part of a small college meansyou get more of an opportunity to have one to one training and to be pushed evenfurther by the brilliant team of staff there. I absolutely loved being a part of MandyEllen Performing Arts College and look forward to watching it grow even more everyyear, especially at ‘Move It’, which is safe to say, we were fabulous on that main stage! Mel Clarke Graduated 2012I can't understand where these past three years have gone; I started out in my first year as a fan of musical theatre and have now left as a professional! Nowhere else could have offered me the amount of support and encouragement that Mandy and her team has given me. Being a small year group meant that I received the attention and technique needed to be the best performer I can. Having been offered a professional contract in both my first and second year I cannot wait to continue my performing career as a graduate professional from the Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College.

Joe Stribley, Graduated 2011I started at Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College straight after school at the age of 16. I had never danced before but really enjoyed it, and so thought I would give it a shotprofessionally. By year 2, I had my own agent and secured Christmas work in a professional pantomime. My third year saw me gain another pantomime and also a 6 month dancing job on a cruise ship. Studying at Mandy Ellen, improved my confidence and proved that I could acheive anything I put my mind to. I am now a professional dancer, singer and actor. Every day I do the things I am good at and love! I want to thank everybody who has taught me at Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College, especially Mandy herself for giving me the opportunity and support I needed to make it through.

Mandy Ellen is the founder and the Principal Director of Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College. In September 2005 Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College (MEPA) was founded. Mandy felt that performing arts was fast becoming out of reach to many talented students due to cost and location. Having three of her own students approach her, wanting to take there performing to a professinal level but not wishing to move to London, Mandy embarked on her next journey creating what has now become a very successful professional performing arts college. The ethos of the college is Quality not Quantity and from that very first day, Mandy promised herself that technical class numbers would remain low, therefore giving students the individual attention needed to ensure they reach the standard required for this tough industry. The college has gone from strength to strength and there has been no looking back. Over the years, she has watched her students graduate and gain professinal work in touring shows, pantomimes, cruise ships, hotels, cabaret clubs, UK tours, teaching and much more.

Mandy Ellen plays a prominent part at ‘Move It’ and 'Can You Dance' which have become the biggest industry events for Performing Arts students in the country. Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College has its own stand along with students appearing on the ‘Move It’ Main Stage and in the more intimate Show Case Theatre. Mandy and her team of teachers are often asked to teach workshops and masterclasses. Be sure to come and find us if you are able to make any of these events.

As principal Mandy prides herself on being approachable, listening to students’ needs and requirements, offering support where she can. Over the last three years Mandy and her Deputy Principal, Emma West, have been working hard together with the full support of her teaching faculty to gain accrediation with CDET (Council for Dance, Education and Training). In September 2013, Mandy Ellen was proud to announce 'Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College' was fully affiliated and endorsed by CDET. Mandy is proactive and continues to have a very hands-on approach and is delighted to be part of the teaching faculty at the college. Mandy has become extensively recognised by professionals throughout the industry and continues to add to the experiences of the Mandy Ellen Performing Arts students, enabling them to be part of the professional industry.

The School’s/Mandy‘s accolades:Reaching the live semi finals of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2008 with the ‘Mandy Ellen Dancers’ and in 2009 with the ‘Hot Honeyz’. Mandy proudly watched on as Simon Cowell gave extensive praise for the choreography: “Congratulations Mandy Ellen because you did a terrific job. The choreography’s very tidy, absolutely fantastic!”. Mandy continues to promote the ‘Hot Honeyz’ and observes their successes with the numerous performances they are offered. She has also seen her dancers reach the judges’ round on ‘Got To Dance’; in 2010 with ‘Krisma’, in 2011 with ‘Jig 4.5’, in 2012 with ‘Krisma’, and 2013 with ‘Ham’, ‘PYT’ and ‘Junior Performers’. Mandy is also a Choreographer for Selladoor Theatre Company, recently choreographing ‘Sincerely Mr Toad’ and ’Night at the Musicals’ in 2013.

History of Mandy Ellen Performing ArtsHow it all began?


Samantha Inge, Graduated 2014After an intense three years of training at the Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College I am so excited to be starting my first job this Christmas. Since leaving college I have been offered a contract to perform with a circus in Norway along with my fellow graduates Tilly Pepper and Lizzie Goodridge. Although the course was both hard and challenging I have loved every minute of it and met some amazing people along my journey. The amazing advantage of the college being small and intimate is having one to one with all the teachers and having their full help and support! At the college students are able to take part in so many performing opportunities and learn so much from the course itself. I had never acted or sung before I came but the teachers gave me so much confidence throughout the three years and now I feel I could step into any area in the industry with all the skills and experience from my training.

I loved being part of the MEPA Family and cannot wait to see the college grow bigger each year. Wishing the best of luck to all the new students and also a massive thank you to all the wonderful teachers for their help and support, especially Mandy herself. I wouldn't be where I am today without them and I'm so excited to see where my career takes me!

Ashleigh Adams, Graduated 2013My time at the College has taught me so much, not only about my subject but about lifein general. I’ve met some really great people who have taught me so much in the 3 years I was there. It has given me skills and experience and opportunities to excel in myfield and be confident that anything is achievable. I wasn’t sure where my studies would take me, but as many aspects of dance and musical theatre were covered in the syllabus such as performance, choreographing, teaching workshops of all ages, I feel that I would be able to jump into any of those particular areas. Within one month of graduating I managed to secure my first professional job at Disneyland Paris as Cinderella.

I believe the daily one to one tuition I recieved, pushed me a lot further in my abilities and made me a better performer. The MEPA teachers always gave 110%, their feedback and directionboosted my performance and confidence. I am really grateful for all that Mandy and her team did- they supported me when I gained professional work whilst still at college and helped me break into the performing industry. What to expect at Mandy Ellen Performing Arts CollegeGeorgia Reid, Graduated 2015My three years at Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College have been very hard work, but extremely rewarding. At the start of year one, I came to College as a dancer but from the excellent training I received I now feel confident leaving as a dancer, singer, and actor. I have great pleasure in announcing that upon graduating I have already got myself accepted onto a cruise agency, and I can’t thank Mandy enough for allowing me to attend auditions in my final term. It is safe to say that I have achieved a lot during my time at college such as performing on the Move It Main Stage, qualifying as a dance teacher with the IDTA, and having the opportunity to perform at many venues. MEPA truly is a very motivating and fun environment to train and I would recommend this college to anyone serious about professional training.

Katie Mackenzie, Graduated 2015MEPA has been an incredible journey with many challenges throughout which I have loved. I have always had a passion for musical theatre and came to college as a dancer and now have developed the skills to become an all rounder with singing and acting. The opportunities have been magical: going to New York, Branson America, and MOVE IT as well as many more. The training at MEPA was incredible and I can't thank the teachers enough for their support, as well as the skills and techniques they have given me. I am extremely pleased I got my IDTA teaching qualifications whist in training. I have truly enjoyed my college years at MEPA. Lizzie Goodridge, Graduated 2014Mandy Ellen Performing Arts has made me a better performer and also a better person. They help you to find your individuality, build on your strengths and also push to improve your weaknesses; no student gets forgotten or left behind. There are facilities available for extra practice and teachers are more than willing to go above and beyond the help that is expected of them. The studios are situated only an hour away from London which means that we are constantly visited by guest teachers. In my time at college I have been privileged to work with the likes of: Ashley Packer, Vicky Longley, Benjamin Newsome, Phillip Joel, David Hutchinson and Phillip Rowntree. The three year course has flown by with plenty of performing opportunities. Not only did I partake in three compulsory showcases and a musical per year, I also was lucky enough to perform at Move It, Got to Dance and Britain’s Got Talent.

Whislt at MEPA I also had the opportunity to train as an IDTA dance teacher. I now hold three associates in various dance subjects: modern, ballet & freestyle. I am so excited to have graduated from college and put to use all the tools I have learnt for industry. I think the future is bright at ‘MEPA’ and I look forward to its great progression and ongoing success.

The three year Musical Theatre and Dance Performing Arts course is aimed at training students to become ‘triple threats’ (Dance, Singing & Acting). We feel this is vital in the current world of professional performance.

Students will study Dance, Singing, Acting and Voice during their three year training course. The teachers are performance industry specialists and will provide the highest level of training across all subjects. On completion of the three year course, graduating students will receive a Musical Theatre and Dance Performing Arts Diploma.

Students are regularly assessed, both formally and informally, to ensure they develop and maintain high personal standards.

Alongside the course subjects, students gain invaluable knowledge from the guest teachers that are brought in on a regular basis, so that our students are offered the broadest range of experiences possible.

Our course provides practical skills, knowledge and understanding of all aspects required within the performance industry. We are proud to have seen our students over the years graduate and be employed all over the world.

College Entry RequirementsOpen auditions are held 3 times a year with the option of private auditions should a student be unable to attend. Our auditions consist of an hour Ballet, Jazz and Commercial class followed by a short Tap assessment. Students will then take part in a Drama workshop and a Vocal workshop.

Students are asked to prepare an audition song and monologue which will be performed in front of the Principal, Deputy Principle and en o taff.

Current students will be on hand for question and answer sessions and interviews will be held at the end of the day. A good general level of dance education, vocal ability and confidence in acting is required but the final assessment will be made on the applicant’s ability and potential shown at the audition stage.

Students wishing to apply should complete the enclosed application form and return to the administration office where they will be invited to attend on the audition days.

Situated in the heart of Maidstone’s Artist quarter in the town centre, it is easily accessible by train, bus or car with good links to public transport in and out of London. Maidstone town is a trendy, thriving area with lovely boutiques, shops, barsand restaurants all within walking distance from the studios.

Mandy Ellen is widely recognised in Maidstone town and students regularly acquire part time employment with local retailers and restaurants to assist with supporting their living costs.

The three-year singing course enables students to develop their overall musicality and fully understand their vocal instrument. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of genres in order to gain insight into their own vocal ability, learn a variety of vocal approaches and prepare for the demands of professional voice work.

The course develops knowledge of vocal anatomy, music theory, contemporary voice studies and performance skills. Students will receive full guidance on practice schedules in order to progress quickly. Performance opportunities enhance the professional training and prepare students’ for a career in the performing arts.

Over the three years, students will develop confidence and ability in performance. They will demonstrate their understanding of technique by being encouraged to assess others. Students understanding of music theory will enable them to prepare sheet music, alter scores and understand the principles and practice of harmony.

The three year vocational training on this course will be an ongoing organic process. It is important that every student is able to present themselves to the best of their ability.

The students should have an understanding of the major influences within theatre including, practitioners and playwrights. They will be able to select appropriate monologues for auditions.

The course develops the individual skills of the students and encourages them to find themselves as performers. The students are given regular feedback to monitor their progress. The aim of the course is to give the students a high level of ability in performance - Confidence is key!

The objective of the three years is for the students to leave college equipped for the professional world of performing.

They will also have the ability to continue their development beyond the safety of college walls using the tools they have been instilled with during their time here.

Believing ‘practice makes perfect’, the students get many opportunities to perform throughout the three years. There are regular showcases of work to demonstrate their development. Each student will also receive the opportunity to take part in a yearly play.

The three year voice course enables students to develop, understand and maintain the voice as an instrument. Students will learn how to access all aspects of the voice through a variety of techniques to give them the versatility demanded by the industry.

The course develops knowledge of vocal anatomy, resonance, vocal quality and vocal delivery. Students will gain knowledge of various techniques to help maintain vocal health and progress steadily.

Over the three years, students will learn a variety of accents and will learn to apply inflection and the appropriate vowel sounds phonetically. Through various performance styles, students are expected to apply technique and experiment with vocal quality in order to prepare them for the professional world.

Mandy Ellen Management is dedicated to providing management for graduating students, helping them to work as dancers, singers, actors and choreographers worldwide.

Having been in the industry for over 20 years Mandy has gained a good working relationship with various industry professionals including casting directors, touring companies, production companies, directors, choreographers and hotels to name but a few.

Our links with the professional world are going from strength to strength and we want to make sure our students reap the rewards. We are here to help every student gain work when leaving college and will ensure that they have the best start possible when embarking on their professional career.


MANDY ELLEN MANAGEMENT

The Dance and Teacher Training cou se is a three year intensive course for those wishing to focus solely on dance. Providing each student with the training needed to embark on the professional industry of performing, as well as obtaining their qualified IDTA dance teaching qualifications.

The three year course will enable students to become versatile in every genre of dance, enhancing their performance, technique and musicality qualities. Students will be involved in many performance opportunities throughout their training with us and occasionally some will be picked for professional work within their three years of training, which we feel is an invaluable experience.

College Entry RequirementsOpen auditions are held 3 times a year with the option of private auditions should a student be unable to attend. Our auditions consist of an hour Ballet, Jazz and Commercial class followed by a short Tap assessment. Candidates will also be required to perform a solo dance.

Current students are on hand for question and answer sessions and interviews will be held at the end of the day. Students wishing to apply should complete the enclosed application form and return to the administration office where they will be invited to attend one of the audition days.

Not only do we offer the fundamentals for an all-round performer and teacher, but MEPA students are given the opportunity to travel and perform abroad, undertaking workshops with some of the most professional names in the industry! New York, The Broadway ExperienceStudents had an incredible time experiencing the top sights in New York, as well as seeing Broadway Shows, not forgetting free time to visit Macy’s and Bloomingdales. The students were lucky enough to have workshops from Broadway casting directors and the performers of the shows, such as the original “Dynamite” from ‘Hairspray’, Dance Captain from ‘Wicked’and performers from ‘Moving Out’. This tour is one of a kind with not only having an exciting site-seeing itinerary, but the experience and the contacts that can be made, creating a truly unforgettable trip!

Lake Garda, Italy, Dance TourOutstanding workshops in the centre of Lake Garda, incorporating a variety of dance styles. The students had a fantastic time visiting the wonders of Italy, including Lake Garda itself, Venice and its beautiful stalls of hand crafted goods, Juliet’s Balcony and the historic ‘Amphitheatre’

Branson, USA, Performance TourBranson is not a well known destination but little do people know that it is one of the leading places for the ‘arts’ alongside

he West End and Broadway. The students not only had the opportunity to meet professionals and get handy tips from the Performers in Branson such as a Dancer from ‘Spirit Productions’, a talented group of a sister and her brothers known as the ‘Haygoods’, but actually perform in several theatres also! Our students had the opportunity to perform a 20 minute set prior to phenomenal shows; on the Branson Showboat, at The Haygoods, Six, Dixie Stampede and Legends in Concert. Branson is set in the heart of Missouri and is breathtaking in many ways, from the food, the culture and history of the area, to the intriguing attractions and most of all the sheer variety of outstanding entertainment. To perform in these reputable theatres in front of a full audience was a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Hollywood, Acting TourHollywood has been our most recent tour and one of the most unforgettable. With its diversity and glamour our students were in their zone of stardom. The students were able to participate in workshops at the famous “Stella Adler” Conservatoire, with renowned practitioners. Los Angeles gave the students the opportunity to discover new and old facts around the theatre and film, exploring behind the scenes at Universal Studios and Sony Pictures, Film Landmarks, Hollywood Boulevard and much more.

Credits include, Little Mix, Take That, Fleur East, Alexandre Burke, Craig David, Royal Caribbean Productions, INKO Dance Company, Dolce&Gabbana Milan, Headmasters Hair Shows ( Artistic Director / Choreographer ), Pirates Of The Caribbean ( On Stranger Tides Actor ), The Song Book of Judy Garland ( UK Tour Original Cast ), Show Business (TV, Sky 1) and collaborates regularly with various up and coming Fashion Designers and Artists. Whilst studying for her Degree in Music at the London College of Music, Jane-Rebecca gained her LLCM (TD) & ALCM in teaching and performing, graduating in 1990 with Honours. Her tuto s e e Janice Chapman, Pamela Bowden & Mary Hammond. After a post-graduate year, concentrating on Advanced Singing Studies, Jane-Rebecca started her career as a Soprano Soloist & Singing teacher. Working predominately as a concert performer, she has performed at many major venues, including St. George’s Hanover Square London, St Paul’s Cathedral London, Westminister Abbey & Westminster Central Hall London & other Cathedrals including Rochester, Guildford & Newcastle as well as various prominent theatres & concert halls in the UK. Her roles include the Queen of the Night (Magic Flute), Mrs Ford (Merry Wives of Windsor), Despina (Cosi fan Tutti), Constanza (Seraglio), Rosina (Barber of Seville), Countess (The Marriage of Figaro) & many Gilbert & Sullivan Operettas to name a few.Jane-Rebecca’s interest in the voice prompted her to explore the more modern Musical Theatre/Belt style of singing with Mark Meylan. Although Jane-Rebecca still sings in a classical Soprano, she now predominantly performs as a Music Theatre Artist, specialising in concert and cabaret work & finds the ‘crossover’ style helpful & liberating, especially when applied to teaching.

Originally from Surrey, England. Christopher trained for a degree in Musical Theatre. He graduated in 2010 and his career has taken him to many places. He has performed in 32 countries across 5 continents. He just recently performed in Sinatra at the London Palladium making his West End debut.

He has performed in Musical Starnight’s European Tour as Dance Captain, and has recently just finished a tour of Hairspray the Musical as Brad. Christopher also feels very privileged to have performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre in front of the Queen and Royal Family.

I am truly honoured and delighted to have been asked to represent MEPA college. To offer my name and experience is a true pleasure and I look forward to offering my support to Mandy Ellen and her students in any way I can. After teaching at MEPAand having known Mandy for several years now, I intsantly believed in the vision andethics that are taught and portrayed from the minute you walk through the door. The students are a credit to Mandy and their passion and discipline is apparent as soon as you meet them. It has been a true joy to be part of the college so far and I cannot wait for what the future brings and to help all the students reach their full potential.

David’s career ranges from London’s West End where he performed in shows such as ‘We will Rock You’ alongside Brian May and ‘Queen’ and ‘Chess’ in concert (Royal Albert Hall) alongside Josh Groban. David now spends his time taking his solo shows to all four corners of the world as a headline of many on beautiful ships such as Princess, Carnival, ENCL, Costa, MSC and more! David’s passions not only lie in music and performing, but sharing his experience and teaching is incredibly important to him. He truly enjoys discovering new talent and nurturing where he can.

Whilst at MEPA we believe that performance opportunities are a very important part of the training. As a result of taking part in shows, we see students grow in confidence and professionalism, bringing them that little bit closer to stardom.

Parent Performance EveningsThe students are given the opportunity to perform at the end of every term. In this performance students are encouraged to perform a song, dance and acting piece. We feel this helps students gain confidence in all subjects and enhances theirperformance level. It is also a great opportunity for family and friends to come and see their son/daughter/friend’s progression and development as a young performer. These evenings are held in a local theatre.

Agent ShowcaseA great opportunity for year three students to perform in a central London theatre, to agents, casting directors, choreographers and professionals within the industry, with the intention of gaining representation.

Annual PlayPerformed locally, giving students the opportunity to work on a straight play, gaining training in script work, accents and characterisation.

Annual ‘MOVE IT’ Dance ConventionThe biggest dance convention in the UK; MEPA students are given the opportunity to perform on the Main Stage and in the Showcase Theatre.

After training professionally, Emma went on to travel around the world working on cruise ships and in various hotels. In her career Emma has been lucky enough to work with choreographers such as Anthony Van Laast, Adrian Allsopp, Chris Baldock and Alan Harding. As Deputy Principal of MEPA Emma is pleased to have been with the college since it opened in 2005, working closely with Mandy to help produce a high calibre of students and striving to expand the college and the excellent work it produces, along with the highly talented team that work at MEPA

Emma is dedicated to making sure the students are trained to a professional standard with a good knowledge of the industry and experience before entering the professional world. Emma is always looking to further her career and knowledge in dance and performance and in her spare time is lucky to have the opportunity to teach various workshops to schools around Europe.

For a small college in Kent the level of the students they produce would fit perfectly onto the big stage around the world. I'm so happy to put my name to support Mandy Ellen performing Arts.Keith is best known for his appearance the BBC1 Show ‘Any Dream will Do’, in which he came second and winning a vast legion of fans. Shortly after the program Keith joined the UK Tour of Bill Kenwright’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoatin which he played The Narrator. He then created the lead role of Charlie in the new musical Only the Brave, which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, following this he was asked back to take over the lead part of Joseph, which he played for three years. He also playedthe role of Alistair in the Edinburgh festival and UK premier of Sincerely Mr Toad. Then came the role of Ralph in the all male version of HMS Pinafore IN which he scored a great success.

The Dance and Teacher Training cou se is a three year intensive course for those wishing to focus solely on dance. Providing each student with the training needed to embark on the professional industry of performing, as well as obtaining their qualified IDTA dance teaching qualifications.

The three year voice course enables students to develop, understand and maintain the voice as an instrument. Students will learn how to access all aspects of the voice through a variety of techniques to give them the versatility demanded by the industry.

The course develops knowledge of vocal anatomy, resonance, vocal quality and vocal delivery. Students will gain knowledge of various techniques to help maintain vocal health and progress steadily.

Over the three years, students will learn a variety of accents and will learn to apply inflection and the appropriate vowel sounds phonetically. Through various performance styles, students are expected to apply technique and experiment with vocal quality in order to prepare them for the professional world.

Our links with the professional world are going from strength to strength and we want to make sure our students reap the rewards. We are here to help every student gain work when leaving college and will ensure that they have the best start possible when embarking on their professional career.


MANDY ELLEN MANAGEMENT

The three year vocational training on this course will be an ongoing organic process. It is important that every student is able to present themselves to the best of their ability.

The students should have an understanding of the major influences within theatre including, practitioners and playwrights. They will be able to select appropriate monologues for auditions.

The course develops the individual skills of the students and encourages them to find themselves as performers. The students are given regular feedback to monitor their progress. The aim of the course is to give the students a high level of ability in performance - Confidence is key!

The objective of the three years is for the students to leave college equipped for the professional world of performing.

They will also have the ability to continue their development beyond the safety of college walls using the tools they have been instilled with during their time here.

Believing ‘practice makes perfect’, the students get many opportunities to perform throughout the three years. There are regular showcases of work to demonstrate their development. Each student will also receive the opportunity to take part in a yearly play.

The three-year singing course enables students to develop their overall musicality and fully understand their vocal instrument. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of genres in order to gain insight into their own vocal ability, learn a variety of vocal approaches and prepare for the demands of professional voice work.

The course develops knowledge of vocal anatomy, music theory, contemporary voice studies and performance skills. Students will receive full guidance on practice schedules in order to progress quickly. Performance opportunities enhance the professional training and prepare students’ for a career in the performing arts.

Over the three years, students will develop confidence and ability in performance. They will demonstrate their understanding of technique by being encouraged to assess others. Students understanding of music theory will enable them to prepare sheet music, alter scores and understand the principles and practice of harmony.

The three year Musical Theatre and Dance Performing Arts course is aimed at training students to become ‘triple threats’ (Dance, Singing & Acting). We feel this is vital in the current world of professional performance.

Students will study Dance, Singing, Acting and Voice during their three year training course. The teachers are performance industry specialists and will provide the highest level of training across all subjects. On completion of the three year course, graduating students will receive a Musical Theatre and Dance Performing Arts Diploma.

Students are regularly assessed, both formally and informally, to ensure they develop and maintain high personal standards.

Alongside the course subjects, students gain invaluable knowledge from the guest teachers that are brought in on a regular basis, so that our students are offered the broadest range of experiences possible.

Our course provides practical skills, knowledge and understanding of all aspects required within the performance industry. We are proud to have seen our students over the years graduate and be employed all over the world.

College Entry RequirementsOpen auditions are held 3 times a year with the option of private auditions should a student be unable to attend. Our auditions consist of an hour Ballet, Jazz and Commercial class followed by a short Tap assessment. Students will then take part in a Drama workshop and a Vocal workshop.

Students are asked to prepare an audition song and monologue which will be performed in front of the Principal, Deputy Principle and en o taff.

Current students will be on hand for question and answer sessions and interviews will be held at the end of the day. A good general level of dance education, vocal ability and confidence in acting is required but the final assessment will be made on the applicant’s ability and potential shown at the audition stage.

Students wishing to apply should complete the enclosed application form and return to the administration office where they will be invited to attend on the audition days.

In order to ensure that each student receives focused tutoring we strive to keep our class numbers to a minimum, to enable a greater emphasis on teacher to student ratios.

It is fair to say that a career in the field of Musical Theatre and Teaching is a competitive one, and like all competitions only the very best will succeed. Our role is to ensure that through focused and structured teaching, along with regular performance reviews, our students are equipped to face the challenges that lie ahead.

What to expect at Mandy Ellen Performing Arts CollegeGeorgia Reid, Graduated 2015My three years at Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College have been very hard work, but extremely rewarding. At the start of year one, I came to College as a dancer but from the excellent training I received I now feel confident leaving as a dancer, singer, and actor. I have great pleasure in announcing that upon graduating I have already got myself accepted onto a cruise agency, and I can’t thank Mandy enough for allowing me to attend auditions in my final term. It is safe to say that I have achieved a lot during my time at college such as performing on the Move It Main Stage, qualifying as a dance teacher with the IDTA, and having the opportunity to perform at many venues. MEPA truly is a very motivating and fun environment to train and I would recommend this college to anyone serious about professional training.

Katie Mackenzie, Graduated 2015MEPA has been an incredible journey with many challenges throughout which I have loved. I have always had a passion for musical theatre and came to college as a dancer and now have developed the skills to become an all rounder with singing and acting. The opportunities have been magical: going to New York, Branson America, and MOVE IT as well as many more. The training at MEPA was incredible and I can't thank the teachers enough for their support, as well as the skills and techniques they have given me. I am extremely pleased I got my IDTA teaching qualifications whist in training. I have truly enjoyed my college years at MEPA. I am thrilled to be accepting my first job out of college at the Colosseum with the Opera: Force of Destiny.

Lizzie Goodridge, Graduated 2014Mandy Ellen Performing Arts has made me a better performer and also a better person. They help you to find your individuality, build on your strengths and also push to improve your weaknesses; no student gets forgotten or left behind. There are facilities available for extra practice and teachers are more than willing to go above and beyond the help that is expected of them. The studios are situated only an hour away from London which means that we are constantly visited by guest teachers. In my time at college I have been privileged to work with the likes of: Ashley Packer, Vicky Longley, Benjamin Newsome, Phillip Joel, David Hutchinson and Phillip Rowntree. The three year course has flown by with plenty of performing opportunities. Not only did I partake in three compulsory showcases and a musical per year, I also was lucky enough to perform at Move It, Got to Dance and Britain’s Got Talent.

Whislt at MEPA I also had the opportunity to train as an IDTA dance teacher. I now hold three associates in various dance subjects: modern, ballet & freestyle. I am so excited to have graduated from college and put to use all the tools I have learnt for industry. I think the future is bright at ‘MEPA’ and I look forward to its great progression and ongoing success.

Mandy Ellen is the founder and the Principal Director of Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College. In September 2005 Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College (MEPA) was founded. Mandy felt that performing arts was fast becoming out of reach to many talented students due to cost and location. Having three of her own students approach her, wanting to take there performing to a professinal level but not wishing to move to London, Mandy embarked on her next journey creating what has now become a very successful professional performing arts college. The ethos of the college is Quality not Quantity and from that very first day, Mandy promised herself that technical class numbers would remain low, therefore giving students the individual attention needed to ensure they reach the standard required for this tough industry. The college has gone from strength to strength and there has been no looking back. Over the years, she has watched her students graduate and gain professinal work in touring shows, pantomimes, cruise ships, hotels, cabaret clubs, UK tours, teaching and much more.

Mandy Ellen plays a prominent part at ‘Move It’ and 'Can You Dance' which have become the biggest industry events for Performing Arts students in the country. Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College has its own stand along with students appearing on the ‘Move It’ Main Stage and in the more intimate Show Case Theatre. Mandy and her team of teachers are often asked to teach workshops and masterclasses. Be sure to come and find us if you are able to make any of these events.

As principal Mandy prides herself on being approachable, listening to students’ needs and requirements, offering support where she can. Over the last three years Mandy and her Deputy Principal, Emma West, have been working hard together with the full support of her teaching faculty to gain accrediation with CDET (Council for Dance, Education and Training). In September 2013, Mandy Ellen was proud to announce 'Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College' was fully affiliated and endorsed by CDET. Mandy is proactive and continues to have a very hands-on approach and is delighted to be part of the teaching faculty at the college. Mandy has become extensively recognised by professionals throughout the industry and continues to add to the experiences of the Mandy Ellen Performing Arts students, enabling them to be part of the professional industry.

The School’s/Mandy‘s accolades:Reaching the live semi finals of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2008 with the ‘Mandy Ellen Dancers’ and in 2009 with the ‘Hot Honeyz’. Mandy proudly watched on as Simon Cowell gave extensive praise for the choreography: “Congratulations Mandy Ellen because you did a terrific job. The choreography’s very tidy, absolutely fantastic!”. Mandy continues to promote the ‘Hot Honeyz’ and observes their successes with the numerous performances they are offered. She has also seen her dancers reach the judges’ round on ‘Got To Dance’; in 2010 with ‘Krisma’, in 2011 with ‘Jig 4.5’, in 2012 with ‘Krisma’, and 2013 with ‘Ham’, ‘PYT’ and ‘Junior Performers’. Mandy is also a Choreographer for Selladoor Theatre Company, recently choreographing ‘Sincerely Mr Toad’ and ’Night at the Musicals’ in 2013.

Samantha Inge, Graduated 2014After an intense three years of training at the Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College I am so excited to be starting my first job this Christmas. Since leaving college I have been offered a contract to perform with a circus in Norway along with my fellow graduates Tilly Pepper and Lizzie Goodridge. Although the course was both hard and challenging I have loved every minute of it and met some amazing people along my journey. The amazing advantage of the college being small and intimate is having one to one with all the teachers and having their full help and support! At the college students are able to take part in so many performing opportunities and learn so much from the course itself. I had never acted or sung before I came but the teachers gave me so much confidence throughout the three years and now I feel I could step into any area in the industry with all the skills and experience from my training.

I loved being part of the MEPA Family and cannot wait to see the college grow bigger each year. Wishing the best of luck to all the new students and also a massive thank you to all the wonderful teachers for their help and support, especially Mandy herself. I wouldn't be where I am today without them and I'm so excited to see where my career takes me!

Ashleigh Adams, Graduated 2013My time at the College has taught me so much, not only about my subject but about lifein general. I’ve met some really great people who have taught me so much in the 3 years I was there. It has given me skills and experience and opportunities to excel in myfield and be confident that anything is achievable. I wasn’t sure where my studies would take me, but as many aspects of dance and musical theatre were covered in the syllabus such as performance, choreographing, teaching workshops of all ages, I feel that I would be able to jump into any of those particular areas. Within one month of graduating I managed to secure my first professional job at Disneyland Paris as Cinderella.

I believe the daily one to one tuition I recieved, pushed me a lot further in my abilities and made me a better performer. The MEPA teachers always gave 110%, their feedback and directionboosted my performance and confidence. I am really grateful for all that Mandy and her team did- they supported me when I gained professional work whilst still at college and helped me break into the performing industry. Kelsey Graham, Graduated 2011I just want to say thank you to Mandy and all of the college teachers because I would never be here having the time of my life doing what I love if it wasn’t for all of the trainingand hard work you put into me! I appreciate it very much! I even managed to bag myself a solo!

Sam Fisher Graduated 2011Since leaving Mandy Ellen’s, I’ve had a very busy 2 years- pretty much working non-stop. I've been lucky enough to have experienced the industry from all aspects. I've secured 2 major commercial agents, and 1 musical theatre agent. I couldn't begin to thank Mandy for all the hard work which was put in whilst I was training. As well as having the most amazing time throughout college being pushed to my limits to make me an all rounder, it's all paid off by the work I have achieved and the career I'm fulfilling. I've just secured my next job with Essence of Ireland in South Africa, playing the lead female role. I shall always be grateful for the opportunities the college gave me, and I shall always be a very proud Mandy Ellen Graduate.
