Dylan – in this ‘home video’, Dylan is showed wearing his school uniform. We decided to film this scene of him in his uniform as it gives the idea that he was happy at school before the bullying started. Although the opening of our media product mainly features Eric, it was important to show Dylan as he is a key character who would be featured at a later stage. Eric: in this shot, Eric is walking down the road with Dylan wearing casual clothes, rather than his uniform. The reason for this was because Eric didn’t want anything to do with the school, which is resembled through the uniform, so chooses to wear his own clothes instead. Bottle: in this shot, we see Eric walking down a road where he is then hit on the head with a bottle. This was to show that the bullying wasn’t just at school, but also occurred outside of it. It also shows the extent that the bullying would go to – physical as well as verbal. Cigarette: the cigarette is used as a prop to show that Eric has resulted to start smoking as a way to calm his nerves and ‘get away’ from the bullying. A cigarette is usually deemed as a rebellious

A cigarette is usually deemed as a rebellious act that a teenage would do, however this isn’t the case in our narrative.Pen & paper: these are quite important props as it shows the empty desk that Eric has in his room, apart from the pen, paper and his bag. This could connote that he is of a lower status and so cannot afford to have items such as a laptop or smart tablet, thus can only write down his thoughts. Eric: this costume is one of the most important costumes in my media product. The black suit and the long black trench coat is what the real life character of Eric wore before entering the school when he did his mass crime. We chose to use the same clothes as it makes the film more realistic and entices the audience into

why he has dressed like that.
