    Technical Advisory Notes: Promat DURASTEEL

    General Description

DURASTEEL is a unique non-combustible compositepanel consisting of two metal sheets (B) mechanicallybonded to a fiber cement core (A).

The metal sheets (A & B) are available in G90 (Z275)galvanized and 316-2B Stainless. DURASTEEL iseasy to install and creates a safer environment inapplications that require structural strength & fireintegrity. DURASTEEL single skin barriers canprovide up to 4 hours fire resistance. The sheets areeasy to assemble and lightweight.

    PromatDURASTEELFeatures

Four Hour Fire Rated: Standard with all Durasteel Systems - absolutely the best fire, blast andimpact protection in the marketplace.

Minimum 40 Year Life - an investment in your business future - loss of records can be

    devastating and costly.

Maintenance Free - passive fire protection that does not require power, gas or water and isalways there to protect.

Proven Impact, Blast, Explosives, Smoke, Toxic Gas, Moisture, Steam and Massive WaterImpact Resistance -unlike drywall, block or concrete construction.

Proven Protection from Mold, Mildew, Weather, Earthquakes, Flooding and Corrosive Elements

Vibration Resistance - thoroughly tested to 1.3million vibrations cycles with no damage orreduction in protection - completely stable for installation needing seismic certification.

Electromagnetic Fields Protection - vital protection for sensitive storage needs such as digitalrecords and IT rooms.

Excellent Structural Strength and Integrity - the dense but lightweight Durasteel panel &framework system exceeds traditional construction, providing reliable asset protection and returnon investment.

Completely Modular - can be quickly and easily installed. Durasteel modular design hasproven flexibility, allowing all systems to be easily dismantled, moved and /or reconfigured.Walls, barriers or vaults can be integrated within any building (including retrofitting) or built as afreestanding system.

Custom Configured for Your Application - small to huge, the flexible design of Durasteelmakes it easy to create any configuration.

Lightweight and Easy to Assemble - no foundations required, can be used on mezzanines, installs with minimal disruption of work flow.

Can Be Faced with Drywall - for an Office Environment look - can be used as safe room.

Constructed of Non-Hazardous Materials - no harmful by-products are released whenexposed to fire.

    Excellent Sound Barrier

    Working with PromatDURASTEEL

    Cutting:DURASTEEL

can be cut using normal cutting tools such as a band saw, diamond or carbide tipped

circular saw, a reciprocating saw, sheeting saw or hacksaw having a fine metal cutting blade.

Drilling:Use normal metal working bits. Drill holes at a minimum of 16mm from the edge of the sheet.

Shaping:Use a jig saw with a metal working blade. Burred edges can be removed with a file. Avoid unnecessarydamage to the galvanized coating.

    Attaching:DURASTEEL

sheets are usually screw fixed to a mild steel structural framework constructed on site.

Promat can provide fixing details for your specific application.

    Decorating:Galvanized DURASTEEL

can be painted following the application of a suitable metal primer. Best results

are obtained after the galvanized coat has weathered naturally for 28 days. Etching solutions are notrecommended. DURASTEEL

is a suitable substrate for the application of rigid decorative veneers.

    Maintenance:DURASTEEL

normally requires no maintenance other than immediate removal of corrosive substances

and the occasional cleaning for cosmetic purposes. DURASTEEL

    can be protected with corrosion

inhibiting paint, particularly in areas where impact may damage the galvanized coating.

    Handling:DURASTEEL

products should be carried on their edge to prevent bowing. They should be placed, not

dropped, over trestles and care must be taken not to damage the edges or corners.

Storage:Sheets should be stored flat, preferably under cover.

    Blast Protection

    Promat DURASTEEL

walls are designed specifically to protectpersonnel and equipment from the effects of explosion, fire, impact, and the effects of smoke and fumes in hazardous environments, suchas offshore platforms, petrochemical installations, chemical plants, military establishments, civil defense works and hazardous processplants.Additional features of Promat DURASTEEL

    fire and blast resistant

    walls:

Blast resistant, tested from 0.3 to 2 bar over pressure.

Resistant to hydrocarbon fires, tested to H120.

Impact resistant to 4000J after 180 minute fire test. Inaccordance with DIN 4102 Parts 2 and 3 requirements.

    High energy absorption.

Hose stream resistant to a 5 bar pressure hose (ASTM E119).

Unlike many fire and blast resistant materials, Promat DURASTEEL

isnon-combustible and will withstand an explosion followed by aprolonged fire and still be unaffected by hose stream firefighting. Its

integrity remains unimpaired, ensuring continued protection against fire, impact and moisture as well aspreventing the escape of smoke and toxic gases. Promat DURASTEEL

systems are tested up to H120

fire rating, and the systems can be designed to suit specific project performance requirements.

    Hydrocarbon, Power Generation & Distribution

In an industry where the concern for environmental

protection coupled with increasing demand for electrical

power, brings constant technology development in both

conventional and new approaches to energy supply, only a

    system such as Promat DURASTEEL

    has the flexibility to

match the need for innovative solutions.

Promat DURASTEEL is non-combustible, will withstandprolonged hydrocarbon or jet fire, it resists hose-stream fire-

fighting, is impact and moisture resistant, and does not emit

    smoke or toxic gases.

    Promat DURASTEEL's

    light weight and strength combine

with its resistance to hydrocarbon fire, blast, impact, jet fire,

water and corrosion to make Promat DURASTEEL

systems the ideal choice for fire protection on offshore

production platforms and in potentially hazardous land-

    based environments.
