Examples of forest management in the
gene reserve
Šėta forest district, Kėdainiai Forest Enterprise
• No financial support as last years’ PHARE project has not been granted
• Incomprehension of the ”AH” project’s benefits by state and subordinate forest officials, private forest owners, and hardwood processing companies
• Inactivity of Supreme forest authorities
• Lack of experienced and competent English-speaking staff in the region
• Access to specific forest inventory data is limited
PROBLEMS
PERSPECTIVES ?
• Some work could be done with the support of Kėdainiai Forest Enterprise
• High economical potential of the hardwoods is at least acknowledged by state and Supreme forest authorities
• This years’ PHARE project will be granted (?)
• The work must go on!
