The meeting will bring together world class speakers and leading academic and industry experts who will discuss the challenges and opportunities for cells as models of disease to improve the success of drug discovery and to develop new therapeutic agents. Hear up-to-date views on this exciting and rapidly evolving area, including presentations on the latest advances and technology breakthroughs.

Each year, Research & Innovation provides a highly impactful learning and networking opportunity for scientists engaged in early-phase drug discovery whether in Academia, Biotech or Pharma. Scientific sessions are complemented by a poster session, networking opportunities and a vendor exhibition with over 40 exhibitors, including recently formed companies with new and disruptive technologies. This meeting will facilitate new ideas and potentiate the cellular models field as it expands into new areas of research and discovery.

Building on the successful launch of the Advances in Cell Based Screening conference in 2011, we are pleased to announce the return of this popular ELRIG conference that focuses on the latest advances in cellular screening methods applied in drug discovery.

The key scientific challenge in drug discovery concerns our ability to translate preclinical data into efficacy and safety measures in man. To address this issue, the scientific community is currently working to adopt native cell systems with improved physiological relevance in higher throughput formats. Application of primary and stem cell derived cellular models is expected to significantly improve our ability to explore complex biological pathways. Thus, new cellular screening assays using native cells grown under physiologically relevant conditions that preserve the natural biology of drug targets and their innate regulation by pan-targets, have the potential to revolutionize drug discovery.

During this 2-day conference, researchers from top academic and industrial laboratories will discuss the latest advances in cellular screening platforms and how native cells can be paired with modern molecular biology techniques, such as Precise Genome Editing, to bring together the best from both the target-based and phenotypic drug discovery worlds. Presentations will showcase the exciting advances in high content imaging and phenotypic screening and how these technologies can lead to the successful identification of early hits, optimization of lead candidates and advancement of new therapeutics using more relevant cell models throughout the discovery process.

Drug Discovery is ELRIG’s flagship event. Now in its 11th year, we return to ACC in Liverpool to bring together the leading lights in drug discovery research across pharma, biotech, academia and the vendor community.

The meeting will feature over 50 world-class speakers in 6 main session tracks, each highlighting the latest scientific breakthroughs and new approaches that are driving this success. This conference will explore innovative technologies and approaches that can be used to overcome drug development challenges, and bring together industry leaders who will discuss future opportunities for novel therapeutic discovery. Scientific tracks will cover therapeutic areas, innovative technologies and target progression challenges. New to this year, we also introduce a track where ground breaking developments in the use of cells as biological tools and therapeutics will be discussed.

There will also be a series of vendor workshops, which will provide a more informal, interactive environment for you to discuss key issues and future directions in workshops coordinated by leaders in the fields. Drug Discovery 2017 will include a high quality scientific poster session, networking opportunities, and an extensive vendor exhibition featuring around 100 companies. And don’t miss the Innovation Zone, for new and exciting emerging companies and technologies.
