Important Dates

➢ Submit your course applications to reach us by Monday 14 January if possible. That ensures your application is included in a ballot should a selected course be oversubscribed.

Make sure you enrol early by 14 January if you wish to keep your place in a course you were enrolled in during 2018. Your place can only be guaranteed until the date the ballot is run.

If enrolling by post, add a Priority label to speed up delivery.

➢ Enrolments formally close on Monday 21 January. While there is no immediate rush to submit your applications, this is a firm closing date for inclusion in the start of Term 1 sessions. Your membership subscription is due at the time you apply.

➢ Detailed Confirmation Letters/Emails are expected to be sent on Thursday 24 January.

➢ A freeze applies to processing any late applications or changes received between Wednesday 30 January and Friday 8 February inclusive. Late enrolments reopen on 9 February.

Please Read

1 If you are a new member or know someone who wishes to join, we prefer you use the online New Member Application form.

Do not use the online New Member form if you were a member of LMU3A within the past two years as your details are still in our records.

2 The easiest way to apply for courses is with the online Course Application form.

Our unique enrolment-by-email system of the past two years has been discontinued as the online form has become overwhelmingly the most popular option.

3 To apply online we must have your personal membership details up to date. If any change is needed, the online Membership Contact Update form is very quick and easy and must be done before completing the Course Application form.

4 If you received this Program by email you will receive a second email with summary enrolment and membership payment instructions, and with clickable links to the online forms and help options. It also contains your currently recorded name and suburb information as needed to complete either of the above online forms. See also Website Links below.

5 If you do not have a computer or do not have an email address, you can still apply online on a friend’s computer or at your local library branch. Simply go to our website at lakemacquarie.u3anet.org.au, click on Membership and Enrolment from the menu at the top, and use the links and instructions on that page.

6 The slow way to enrol is by post, using the hard-copy Membership and Course Application form mailed to you or as downloaded and printed. We recommend you send this application by Priority mail to reduce delivery delays. However, we strongly recommend you use the very easy online form.

7 Admission to any course or excursion is conditional upon payment of the $60 membership for 2019.

Enrolment Procedure - General Information

Your Membership and Course Application is included as a separate form. This is for use only if you

are enrolling by post.

If you enrol for a full-year course, then that enrolment is valid for the whole year and you do not have to

re-enrol at mid-year for Semester 2.

You will receive another program and course application form for Semester 2 courses at mid-year.

If enrolling by post, applications should be mailed to:

The Enrolment Officer

Lake Macquarie U3A

PO Box 864

WARNERS BAY NSW 2282

We recommend, wherever possible, you send applications to be received by 14 January,

with a Priority label if using Australia Post. Closing date for applications is 21 January.

Applications must be accompanied by your payment of $60.

You will be notified whether enrolment in a course has been successful or whether you have been placed

on a waiting list. If you have not received your enrolment confirmation by 30 January, please contact

Glenys Chambers by emailing [email protected] or phone 4952 4995 (email preferred).

Participants are warned that there is a risk of injury when participating in U3A courses involving

physical activity.

Please consider volunteering to be a course clerk. Your assistance in this vital role is greatly appreciated.

Please note this is the only address for posted

enrolment forms and cheque/money order payments

A reminder to those not using online enrolment: please mail completed forms ONLY TO

THE ADDRESS SHOWN ABOVE as the LMU3A PO Box and our Mail Box at the Multi-

Purpose Centre are not checked daily.

Enrolling In Courses Please do NOT enrol for multiple courses which may overlap, which might not leave enough time to get from

one venue to the next or where you then decide you have enrolled in too much and will be too busy to attend.

For many courses we have waiting lists and this is unfair to others wanting to take part.

Withdrawing From Courses We also need to know if you have enrolled but will no longer be attending:

➢ If you decide to withdraw from any course, talk or excursion for any reason, please let your course clerk

know.

➢ Alternatively, fill in a ‘Withdraw’ submission on the Course Application form.

➢ If you do not attend for three sessions and have not advised your course clerk that you will be absent

(for example, if you are going on holiday), you will be withdrawn from the course so that someone on

the waiting list can take your place.

➢ If you decide to withdraw prior to the course starting or need to find out who your Course Clerk is and

do not have access to email, please call the General Enquiries line on 0490 367 591.

Wednesday Talks If you know you would like to attend a particular talk, please make sure you enrol. Failure to do so can

sometimes mean that, because of low enrolments, the talk may be cancelled. As a reminder email is sent one

week prior to each talk, if you then find that you are unable to attend simply reply to that email or email

lmu3aprogram@gmail. However, if you later decide there is a talk which interests you, you are welcome

to attend - simply add your name to the roll.

No Email? No Problem If you are unable to attend a Wednesday talk and do not have access to email, call the General Enquiries line

on 0490 367 591, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm only.
