    Overview

    Measure the length of thecable to be stripped by placingit in the template. Stop with theindex finger of your left hand

    Insert the measured cable endinto the tool. The stop for theinsertion depth is indicated bythe index finger of the left hand.

    Fix the cable end in thestripping tool up as far asthe stop.

    Rotate stripping tool 4 timesin the direction of the arrowto strip the wire.

    Pull the closed stripping toolaway from the end of the cable.

    Remove core protection film.

    After stripping the cable itcan be mounted directly in thePROFIBUS connector.

    Fast and easy assembly ofPROFIBUS copper cables

    Rules out mounting errorssuchas short-circuitsbetween the shield andadapter

    Application PROFIBUS FastConnect is

    a system for fast and easyassembly of PROFIBUScopper cables.

    Design The system comprises 3compatible components:

    FastConnect bus cables forrapid installationFastConnect stripping tool

    FastConnect PROFIBUSbus connector

    Note:The PROFIBUS FastConnect buscables can also be connected toconventional bus connectors.

    Functions The FastConnect strippingmethod enables fast and easyconnection of PROFIBUS con-nectors to the PROFIBUS

    cables.

    The special structure of theFastConnect bus cablesenables the use of the Fast-Connect stripping tool with

    which the outer casing andthe woven shield can bestripped with perfect preci-sion in one step.

    The cable prepared in thisway is connected in the Fast-Connect bus connector usingthe insulation displacement

    method.

    Shorter connection times forterminals by stripping of theouter cladding and wovenshield in one stepRules out mounting errorssuchas short-circuitsbetween the shield andadapter

    Easy assembly due topreset insulation strippingtool (FC stripping tool)

    Termination can be checkedin the assembled statethrough the transparent cov-er for the insulation piercingterminals thanks to colorcoding.

    Application Different types of cables areavailable for the differentapplication options for

    configuring PROFIBUSnetworks.

    Generally, the cables listedshould be used. For furtherdetails on network configura-

    tion, refer to the PROFIBUSnetwork manual.

    The ECOFAST hybrid cableis particularly suitable forconnecting locally installed

    ECOFAST components.

    Design Shielded, twisted-pair cablewith circular cross-section.The following applies to allPROFIBUS bus cables:

    Due to double-shielding,these cables are particularlysuitable for industrial envi-ronments subject to electro-magnetic interference.

    Grounding continuity maybe implemented through theouter casing of the bus ca-ble and the bus terminal'sground terminals.Meter length markings areprinted on the cable.

    Cable types The FastConnect (FC) buscables are of a radially sym-metric design which allows astripping tool to be used. In

    this way bus connectors canbe assembled quickly andeasily.

    PROFIBUS FCStandard Cable:Standard bus cablespecially designedfor fast assembly.PROFIBUS FCRobust Cable:This cable is speciallydesigned to withstandaggressive chemicalsand mechanical stress.PROFIBUS FC food cable:The use of PE casing materi-al makes this bus cable suit-able for use in the food,beverages and tobaccoindustryPROFIBUS FCUnderground Cable:This cable is specially de-signed for underground in-stallation. It differs from thestandard PROFIBUS buscable in that it is equippedwith an additional casing.

    PROFIBUS FCTrailing Cable:Bus cable for special use incases of forced movement in

    mobile cable handlers,e.g. for continuously movingmachine parts (strandedconductor).PROFIBUS FC FRNC Cable:Two-wire shielded, flame re-tardant and halogen-freebus cable with copolymerouter casing FRNC (FlameRetardant Non Corrosive).

    copper conductors for thedata transfer and four cop-per conductors for the pow-er supply to ECOFASTstations.SIENOPYR PROFIBUSMarine Cable:Halogen-free, tread-resis-tant, flame retardant marineapproved PROFIBUS buscable for installation on-board ships and offshoreunits in rooms and on opendeck. Available by the meter.

    Mounting Bus cables are sold by themeter.If a bus segment has to beassembled from two parts(e.g. >1000 m segmentlength), sleeves can be usedfor this (connect wires with lowresistance to terminals,ensure complete connectionof shields).

    FastConnectUsing the FastConnect strip-ping tool it is possible to stripthe outer casing and theshield of the new FastConnectbus cables to the right lengthin one step.

    In this way the busconnectors (except6ES7 972-0BA30-0XA0)can be connected quicklyand easily to the bus cable.

    Cable installationKeep the bus cable sealedwith a shrink-on cap at eachend during storage, transpor-tation and installation.Do not exceed bending radiiand tensile stress!

    The ground cable should beused for installation outdoors,e.g. directly in the ground, insand or in concrete as well asin underground or overgroundprotective steel or plastic con-

    duits.The surge voltage protectionregulations must be observedparticularly when under-ground cables are installed.

    Application The RS 485 bus connectorsfor PROFIBUS are used forconnecting a PROFIBUS

    This connector enables avertical cable outlet (withand without PG interface) fortransfer rates up to 12 Mbit/swith integrated bus terminat-ing resistor.With transfer rates of 3, 6 or12 Mbit/s, the SIMATIC S5/S7connecting cable is requiredfor the connection betweenthe bus connector with addi-tional PG interface and a pro-gramming device.

    Bus connector with 30 cable outlet (low-costversion) without PG inter-face for transfer rates upto 1.5 Mbit/s and withoutintegrated bus terminatingresistor.PROFIBUS FastConnectRS 485 bus connector (90 or180 cable outlet) with trans-fer rates up to 12 Mbit/s forfast, easy mounting with in-sulation displacement meth-od (for rigid and flexiblewires).

    Functions The bus connector is pluggeddirectly to the PROFIBUSinterface (9-pin Sub-D con-nector) of the PROFIBUSnode or a PROFIBUS networkcomponent.

    The incoming and outgoingPROFIBUS bus cable is con-nected through four terminalsin the connector.The line terminationintegrated in the bus con-nector can be connectedthrough an externallyaccessible switch (notwith 6ES7 972-0BA30-0XA0).

    Here, incoming and outgoingbus cables are separatedin the connector (isolatingfunction).This is mandatory atboth ends of a PROFIBUSsegment.
