Professional Achievements

After obtaining M.S. (Gen. Surgery), M.Ch. (Cardiothoracic Surgery) from P.G.I.M.E.R.,

Chandigarh and MNAMS (Cardiothoracic Surgery) from National Board of Examinations, New Delhi

(India), I joined the Department of General Surgery, J.N. Medical College, A.M.U., Aligarh in

January 1983, I single handedly established and developed Division of Cardiothoracic and

Vascular Surgery from a scratch in the Department of Surgery. At the moment all types of closed

cardiac, pulmonary, esophageal and vascular operations and Endoscopic procedures are being

performed routinely. Till date, nearly four thousand procedures have been carried out with

excellent outcome. Out of these, approximately one thousand are closed cardiac and vascular

operations including open heart operations. In spite of all limitations, particularly financial, where

government has to play a vital role, I am quite hopeful to transform it to an Open Heart Surgery

Centre in near future.

I had great contribution in the revival, development and maintenance of Centre of Cardiology

and Cardiovascular Research in J.N. Medical College, A.M.U., Aligarh as its Director. Nowadays,

other than non-invasive investigations, we are doing permanent Pacemaker implantation quite

frequently and are planning to have fully modernized and state of the art Cardiac Cath-lab soon.

As a Chairman, Department of Surgery, I have been continuously striving hard to raise the

Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching standards and have been reasonably successful in

streamlining the functioning of the Department of Surgery for better, modern and up-to-date training

of students and improved patient care.

Other than being Internal Examiner for various examinations and Nominated Member of a

large number of Selection Committees in the University, I have had the honor and privilege of being

examiner in various Medical Colleges/Universities of the country for MCh (CTVS), MS (Surgery)

To extend the benefit of my specialty to the needy patients who are enormous in number and reside on

the outskirts of district Aligarh, the University had agreed more than five years ago to send me as

visiting consultant to “Narora Atomic Plant Hospital, Narora, Bulandshahar” on a fortnightly

basis. Since than I have been regularly visiting there and providing the much needed medical care to a

huge chunk of population which gather from the nearby districts/ sub-urbs and who do not have

means to attend to higher centers of medical care.

I have been honored by the “Union Public Service Commission” New Delhi which invited

as one of the examiners to set the paper of multiple choice questions in Surgery for Civil Services

Examination in October, 1998 and as one of the experts to revise the Syllabus of Medical Sciences

for Civil Services Examination in August 2000.I acted one of the experts & adviser to J & K

Public Service Commission to select Assistant Surgeons in the state In the year 2004 . I was

invited as one of the examiners to set multiple choice questions in Surgery for J & K Public Service

Examination in Sept.2006. Invited as technical expert by government of Nepal for selection of

professors in CTVS on 18th April, 2007. I have the honour of performing the duty as Inspector M C I

0f four Medical Colleges on dates 01-02-Sept.2009,12-13-Oct.2009,24th

April 2010 & 6th

2010. I have been honored by the Rohilkhand Univrsity which appointed as one of the external
