    A policy is a predetermined course of actionestablished as a guide toward acceptedobjectives and strategies of the organization.

    A vision is formulated, businessprocesses are analyzed, and policy and

    procedure systems to support the vision

    are born. As policies and procedures are

    written, approved, published, and implemented, the companys vision is

    articulated.

    ` Policy manuals are developed to help staff andmanagement teams run the organization. In best usesituations, policies play a strategic role in anorganization. They are developed in light of the mission

    and objectives of the company and they become themedia by which managements plans, rules, intents, andbusiness processes become documented andcommunicated to all staff. Carefully drafted andstandardized policies and procedures save the companycountless hours of management time. The consistentuse and interpretation of such policies, in anevenhanded and fair manner, reduces management'sconcern about legal issues becoming legal problems.

    Without policies boundaries and baselines related to thecompanys missions and objectives would not exist. Whendeveloping your policies, you should start withy our missionand objectives. A mission statement should be a clear statement about who your company is trying to serve. It

    should be a cultural reflection of the values, beliefs, andphilosophy of the organization. It should be very brief andvery clear so that everyone in the organization canunderstand it and so that objectives are seen clearly assteps to achieving the mission. Objectives are like goals;

    they direct the staffs attention to important factors inrunning the organization and help define unique ways toenhance performance of individuals and the organizationas a whole.
