We first saw a change of the production in MGM when they had its ownership changed in 1969 and then after that at least eight times . They now do a variety of different films this will bring in more viewers

Advance sales and social media chatter for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey suggest the studios will get what they want. the film is forecast to generate at least $300 million in North American theaters after its Dec. 14 .

The first Lord of the Rings movie took in $313 million.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is in the final stages of a new $650 million bank financing that will retire its current debt, pay back money it borrowed from Sony and Warner Bros. to make Skyfall and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and position the Lion to roar to Wall Street that it is ready to move forward with an initial public stock offering, probably by June.
