REPORT OF THE DEPUTY GRAND MASTER

Your Deputy Grand Master visited two Councils, Davenport No. 5 and Orient No.

    14. They held a joint visitation In Portsmouth January 8, 2013. The Opening was done with

a joint Team from Both Councils. The work of the Evening was the Royal Master Degree

likewise done with a team from both Councils. The work of both the opening and degree

was Excellent. These two York Rite groups work together to help each other as needed.

Your visiting officer took quite a while getting the Recorder and Treasurer Records

for review. On the visitation evening, the Records of Davenport Councils Treasurers

records were examined. There was no financial statement. The checkbook and funds

reports were examined. That part of the records is satisfactory. The Council is financially

stable. The Recorders records of Davenport Council were examined at a later date and

    found to be satisfactory.

Orient Council No. 14 held a Special awards Night on Friday, January 18, 20123to

honor one of their Companions, who received the Ish Sodi, presented by the Most

Illustrious Grand Master, Robert D. Steel.

The Records of the Recorder are excellently kept. The Treasurer was out of town

then, so those records are being examined later.

Your Deputy Grand Master is appreciative of the welcome and dinners he received

    at these visitation dates,

Your Deputy Grand Master also attended two other visitations, Adoniram, and

Horace Chase. He helped with the work of the evening in both Councils.

Your Deputy Grand Master also attended The Grand Officers Training Session, the

Operation Thank You for Military Personnel.

He regrets not going to other jurisdictions due to family concerns; his wife is not

well, and shouldnt be left alone for long periods. Whenever he has the chance, he expresses

the fraternal greetings of the New Hampshire when at Haverhill, and Newburyport

    Council meetings.

John B. Clark, Deputy Grand Master

    NH YORK RITE

    LIFE MEMBERSHIP FOUNDATION

    MARCH 23, 2013

To: Comp. Robert D. Steel, MIGM of the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of the State of New

    Hampshire:

The annual meeting of the NH York Rite Life Membership Foundation was held on Thursday, March 21,

    2013.

At the end of fiscal year 2012, we had 285 life members in the Chapters, Councils and Commanderies,

of which 98 were Council members. The Council added one member this year. This year we received

3.57259% return on our investments of $60.256.60, for a total income of $2,152.72. The income to be

divided among the Councils is $622.12. Because of the declining interest on our investments, we

discussed the possibility of having to increase the X-factor rates for new members. If this happens, it will

be effective March 1, 2014. This is an incentive for members considering life membership to do so prior

    to February 28, 2014.

The following officers were re-elected for 2013:

    Robert L. Sutherland, Jr. President

    Robert G. Hatfield Vice-President

    Rodney A. Robinson Treasurer/Assist. Sec.

    Robert M. Argel Secretary/Assist. Trea..

Comp. Richard A. Gilbert, Sr. is scheduled to complete his three year term this year. The Foundation

members strongly recommend that he be re-elected for three more (3) years.

To the Most Illustrious Grand Master Robert D. Steel of the Grand Council and companions of

New Hampshire, the following report on the Cryptic Medical Research Foundation donations.

    May 2012 through April 2013:

Companions, people through the world have benefited from this research being done at Indiana

State University. This is by far the most important research being done on the diseases of the

Heart and Diabetes and most important vascular problems for all ages.

Many who have had a heart catheterization of the Heart no longer lay in the bed for 8 to 9 hours

because of the sea weed patch developed by the Foundation.

REPORT OF THE MOST ILLUSTRIOUS GRAND MASTER

    Dear Companions,

During the preceding year I have had the privilege of serving The New Hampshire

Council of Cryptic Masons and was present at the events listed below. I also presented to each

Council a presentation tailored to the event primarily on the subjects of Charity; both the giving

of alms and the understanding of personalities and various topics tailored to the event,

    individuals and the works of that Council both present and past with outlooks toward the future;

as the Visiting Officer brought the appropriate Greetings.

It was also my privilege to present the Ish Sodi Award to deserving members as

recommended by the Council concerned and my approval; names noted.

    NOTES:

Attendance of Regular Lodge Communications of the two Lodges, RA Chapter, Council

and Commandery as well as all Rites, Appendant and Concordant Masonic Bodies to which I am

a member and or Officer of are NOT included. All were faithfully attended except for two

conflicting incidences where my Primary duty as MIGM prevailed.

It was not anticipated at the time I started this year, however, it became necessary for me

to send my regrets to all Jurisdictions concerning my inability to travel when discovered on my

way to the NE Regional in Albany. Arthritis and nerve pressures made it extremely difficult to

sit for a long period of time. Vermont was the exception.

As neither V.O. Or Lec. Showed up because of dates confusion, I both observed the work and

presented the Greetings. This Council has advanced a long way toward becoming and active,

viable Council in operations/degree work and attendance. Much work is still required but the

    spirit and desire is present.

    GRAND MASTERS CONCLUDING REMARKS

    Brethren ALL

There comes a time when each of us has to step aside. We take office voluntarily and so we

vacate it. This was the last year of a long period of time during which many paths have been

explored, roads traveled and indeed, destinations reached. Who are we that we may choose every

event that would change our lives? There are many we would have sidestepped if given a choice,

many we would rather not have knowledge of as well. In truth, each of those unwanted events in

life have contributed to our growth as human beings, each, however, has had a part in developing

our character; turning a negative into a positive , a lemon into lemonade, a Rough Ashlar into

one fit for use in the Temple! Each stage of our lives has several others within; each has lessons

to teach; each has its own rewards and penalties. None of us has the ability to look into the future

with certainty, nor may we know every course of action in advance. It is the "School of Life"

teaching us, one lesson at a time. We as Freemasons have an unusual opportunity to prevail,

why? Many of those paths and roads have already been traveled by other Brothers, they know

the way, the results of dedicated service, the personal joys of fulfillment. These Brethren are

your Mentors, available to you for the asking, a simple knock on the door, a desire to learn and

take instruction is all it takes.

This past year, old back and hip injuries reared their powerful influence over my ability to

travel. To say it was difficult to travel would be an understatement of Gross Proportions. I did

attend each Councils works and almost all of our functions in New Hampshire plus a very few

out of it. I did send regrets to all concerned Jurisdictions and events. My concentration remained

here, working to the best of my "Mobility". The record is printed in the final report. During

those opportunities I was able to present an Ish Sodi Award to seven deserving Companions for

their past, present and continuing superior performance and attitude. Their labors have

contributed to the overall successful Masonic Year of our Grand Council. We have been able to

replace every loss with a new face. The new faces are younger and more active, eager and

participating in their Councils future. You, my Companions, did the work, pulled the cord and

yanked the Whistle Chain! Congratulations to EVERY COUNCIL!!! I must also give a huge

amount of Thanks to your Grand Line Officers, they put it together, adjusted where necessary

and proceeded to complete all tasks assigned.

There were several individual Companions, submitted by their Council, to be considered for the

honor of being nominated Cryptic Mason of the Year, to the General Grand Council,

International. It truly was a hard choice as there is so many of you out there I am aware of. Of

the names submitted to me, however, one stood out clearly; Ill. Companion Andy Lord. In

addition to this, the General Grand Council authorized a NEW Award with similar requirements

as the Grand Encampments Knight Commander of the Temple, the Order of the Secret Vault.

For all of his works in our Councils and Grand Council I nominated our R.I. Grand Recorder

Dennis A. Sheridan, MIPGM as the first recipient. As you are now aware, each of my

Nominations were approved by the General Grand Council International.

I will be almost out of Masonic Offices after the elections today. With 98% of the work

compete, my future efforts will begin to be concentrated upon reestablishing my life with my

new wife Alice. Many of you are aware that my wife of 47 + years, Catherine, has now been

deceased for 3 + years. If I did not have this Great Fraternity to influence my life and activities, I

would not be here now. My adult life has been so blessed with this association, I could never

  • 29

begin to repay it, except with my efforts in its behalf. It was Catherine who bore the brunt of this

passage, to her I say, thank you dear wife, may you Rest in Peace. To my new Bride Alice,

you know not what you missed, our future will be greatly relieved of countless nights away from

home. There are still about two years left before I am completely out of office though. You, very

ably managed as a nurse, wife and mother for 47 + years, I am sure you can handle our future

    together, handily!

And so it is time to say farewell, may you each adorn your "Temple not made with hands" with

the jewels of Faith, Love, Honor and Constancy.

    Sincerely and fraternally,

    Companion Robert D. Steel, MIGM

REPORT OF THE JURISPRUDENCE COMMITTEE 2013

To Companion Robert D. Steel, Most Illustrious Grand Master, and the Companions of the

Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of New Hampshire:

The Jurisprudence Committee has reviewed the report of the Most Illustrious Grand Masters

activities for the 2012-2013 Cryptic year and thanks him for its timely submission, even if

received indirectly. This Committee always appreciates the opportunity to evaluate the Most

Illustrious Grand Masters activities when adequate time is available for review.

The Committee notes his attendance at the Northeast Conference in New York and recognizes

his limitations for travels to other jurisdictions. It is suggested that when such circumstances

arise, effort should be made to the extent possible to ensure a qualified representative of this

Grand Council is present at out-of-state events. Participation in visitations to other Grand

Jurisdictions and General Grand Council activities is important not only for the presiding Most

Illustrious Grand Master, but for all progressive Line Officers.

The Committee also recognizes his diligence in visiting the Councils in this jurisdiction, both

officially and to support them with degree work. We were pleased to see the number of

presentations of the Ish Sodi award personally presented by the Most Illustrious Grand Master.

It is critical that the Grand Council is seen as both a resource of support by all Companions, and

as a means of officially recognizing the efforts of individuals. Your attendance provided a visual

    confirmation of that support.

The report received by the Committee contained no reference to either dispensations granted or

by-laws changes approved. The Committee must assume that no items of an administrative

nature occurred during the past Cryptic year, but would remind those advancing towards the

Grand East that administrative actions or decisions are a critical part of the annual report of the

Illustrious Grand Master. Should there be none during a term of office, it is suggested that a

comment to that effect should be included in the report.

Most Illustrious Sir, it has been a pleasure working with you during the past Cryptic year, and we

thank you for the privilege of serving this Grand Council as your Jurisprudence Committee.

    Sincerely and Fraternally,

    Roger A. Douillette, Sr., MIPGM

We gather at this time in loving memory for those Companions of our Secret Vault who have

departed this earthly life to find home with the Grand Master of Heaven. Let us remember that we

look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen for the things that are seen are

transient and the things that are unseen are eternal. We light this candle as a symbol of our brotherly

    love for them.

Let us worship God this morning before Him our departed Companions

Father in Heaven, we praise your holy name for all who have finished this life l loving and trusting

you, for the example of their lives, the life and grace you
