RENDEZ-VOUS IN LYON FROM 13th TO 16th OF JUNE

FIP plastic solution: a record for this 30th anniversary! A highlight of the calendar for the plastics industry in France, FIP Solution Plastique is eagerly anticipated this year on two counts: not only will it be bringing together a record number of exhibitors, with a significant increase in the number of companies from abroad, but it will also be punctuated throughout with special events, since FIP Solution Plastique will this year be celebrating its 30th anniversary. FIP Solution Plastique 2017 promises to be the big event of the year for the profession, stamped with this desire to perpetually promote innovation and a vision of the future. Naturally, it continues to play host to new exhibitors and new technologies, reflecting the best practices in the plastics industry. The event is sure to match the expectations of what the entire industry has been preparing for and anticipating for many months… A record number of exhibitors, an offering that extends its international scope

FIP Solution Plastique will take place on 13 - 16 June 2017 at Lyon Eurexpo. The entire plastics industry, brought together for the occasion every three years in Lyon, is particularly looking forward to this edition. Testament to this is the way the trends are pointing, with an anticipated 33% increase in the exhibition area. More than 280 companies will be presenting their know-how for the first time at this year's FIP Solution Plastique. The wide range of exhibitors will provide a global vision of the plastics industry, from plastic, composite and rubber materials, through tools, transformation technology and various services, to machines. More than 800 exhibitors are expected this year!

A wealth of cutting-edge content from the plastics and rubber sector FIP Solution Plastique is historically known and recognised as a forum for exchange. Stakeholders from the industry use the four-day event as an opportunity to come together, meet up and work together on future projects, while exhibitors and visitors alike profit from their time at FIP to discover how equipment works, find precise technical solutions, and feed their reflections on their business and their industry. FIP Solution Plastique 2017 will be no exception to this rule. As well as the many live demos on the exhibitor stands, there will be not one but two programmes proposed this year, running in parallel and free to attend:

A conference programme addressing topical issues and featuring speakers who are experts in the sector

A programme of workshops at which the exhibitors will be presenting their know-how and innovations in short and technical formats, for a concrete vision of the latest technological advances

Press Kit fip solution plastique 4

The subjects treated in the conferences will be based on four themes:

Sustainable Development / Process / Organization / Materials. Here are just a few examples of conferences: the plastics industry of tomorrow, nanomaterials, biomaterials, smart composites, plastronics, Reach 2018, materials purchasing strategies, energy-saving certificates, making lighter vehicles, the circular economy, technical innovations in finishing and decorative elements, etc. Everyone will be able to find in these exchanges the information that concerns them directly. You will find in these pages the details of the presences and animations during the fair.

A 30th anniversary marked by good fellowship Since its creation in 1988 at the heart of the French plastics industry, FIP Solution Plastique has supported the entire plastics industry in casting light on its technological challenges. A true network of partners has been generated: professional associations in the sector, contracting clients and suppliers, together they will be celebrating, from 13 to 16 June, 30 years of collaboration. Many festivities and high points are in the course of preparation:

On the stands of the exhibitors, in the aisles of the exhibition: Happy Hours every day; the Plastics Industry Gala Evening; and lots more

An exhibition in collaboration with the ADAM Museum of Brussels: from this private collection, unique in the world, a selection of emblematic objects made of plastics materials will be exhibited in a dedicated space, showcasing design

Photobox FIP: visitors and exhibitors will be able to relive the best moments of the last 30 years of FIP, in an exclusive photo exhibition

FIP Solution Plastique 2017 will therefore offer the opportunity to the entire plastics industry in France to consolidate its professional network, and to demonstrate once again its dynamism and its capacity to meet the technological challenges facing the industry of the future.

Press Kit fip solution plastique 19

5:00 PM: Energy certificates: for reducing costs! Mathieu CHAOUAT, Manager, BtoB Services & Partnerships Dept. – EDF The Energy Saving Certificates (CEE - Certificats d’Economies d’énergie) mechanism, introduced in 2005 by the POPE Act, is intended to promote energy savings. The State obliges the responsible parties (such as EDF) to make, or generate, energy savings for consumers, with these savings manifested in the form of CEEs. In the plastics sector, several operations are eligible for the CEE mechanism: by way of illustration, between 2014 and 2016, electric press installations benefited from State aid for a total amount of almost €6.5 million, enabling 2.1 TW of off-peak energy savings to be made.

WEDNESDAY, 14 JUNE 2017 10:00 AM: When bio sourced materials play the performance card Chaired by Sylvie LATIEULE, Editor-in-chief – FORMULE VERTE Alexia ROMA – Biomaterials correspondent – Innovation Division, RENAULT Anne LEDUC – Research Engineer, Composite & Polymers, FIBRE RECHERCHE DEVELOPPEMENT Sandra MARTIN – CEO, FUTURAMAT Jean Pierre LE FLANCHEC, Sales and marketing director – BIOTEC GMBH

Biosourced materials were initially exclusively factored in to reduce the carbon footprint of the products in whose manufacturing they were used. Yet in a context of low oil prices, the situation has changed. Today, these materials also need to offer extra performance to the finished product, to justify a price that is sometimes higher than equivalent materials of fossil origin. Accordingly, the automotive industry is looking for more from the biosourced materials that it uses, such as more lightweight textures or acoustic properties. In the food industry, certain biosourced packagings may be expected to meet biodegradability requirements.

2:00 PM: Going beyond? The plastic materials sourcing strategies of French and European processing companies Chaired by Alain LAVAL – Lead Buyer ALBEA FRANCE and President of the Materials Committee of the FRENCH PLADDTICS AND COMPOSITE FEDERATION Mike BOSWELL – CEO of PLASTRIBUTION and VP, BPF (British Plastics Federation) Oliver MOLLENSTADT – CEO, GKV (German Plastics Federation) The powerful tensions felt in recent months have brought to light the future trends of the plastics materials market. Interdependence of geographical zones and increasing demands from Asia; growing imports of materials by European processing companies; reduced production capacities in Europe while capacities are being ramped up in the Middle East and the USA... What sourcing strategies can European plastics manufacturers structure in the face of these changes, changes that bring with them both risks and opportunities? 3:30 PM: Plastronics: ready for take-off! Chaired by Maël MOGUEDET – CEO, S2P Lionel TENCHINE – Programme Line Manager, IPC Patrick POLESZCZUK – Business Development Leader Technical Specialities, SABIC Stéphane MALPONT – Project Director, TPL Jean-François PINTOS, Research Engineer, CEA LETI

With a meshing of "smart" innovations, a veritable industrial channel is being organised in France. By incorporating electronic circuits and components directly in complex 3D moulded forms, in plastics, in composites, or even in paint, plastronics is a real game-changer! It offers miniaturised systems that are also lighter in weight than traditional electronic systems. It therefore holds out the promise of new, user-friendly and miniaturised objects. Real differentiation is made possible by the freedom and flexibility of design.

THURSDAY, 15 JUNE 2017

10:00 AM: Will the plastics industry of the future be digital? With contributions from VISIATIV SA., FAURECIA, SAP FRANCE, BDL CONSEIL NUMERIQUE ET INFORMATION, ALBEA GROUP Even though Industry 4.0 is the big buzz concept of the decade, the way to get there remains obscure for many manufacturers. On the podium of the key technologies of the factory of the future we find the notions of big data, automation, collaborative robotics, predictive maintenance, and so on. So just how can you be sure of the relevance of your industrial strategy, particularly when such heavy investment is involved, and with new technological solutions reaching maturity every day?

11:30 AM: Circular economy: How to accelerate the use of recycled plastics materials Chaired by Marc MADEC – Sustainable Development Director, FRENCH PLADDTICS AND COMPOSITE FEDERATION Arnaud ROLLAND – CSR Manager, COCA COLA EUROPEAN PARTNERS Frédéric VIOT – Ecodesign Supervisor, PLASTIC OMNIUM Valérie FREREJEAN – Programme Line Manager Eco-Plastics manufacturing, IPC The circular economy, which enables transition from a linear model of resource usage to optimised management, is a major environmental challenge for the plastics sector, and generates raw material savings via the use of recycled plastics. Today, the main motivation for using these recycled plastics is the economic benefit that they offer. The drop in the price of oil has called this situation into question, and undermined the plastics recycling channel. We therefore need to look beyond the purely economic interests and make the environmental and, more broadly, societal aspects the drivers of a sustainable usage of recycled plastics. What can we do to make the approach of the manufacturers move in this direction? What are the brakes on this? What are the avenues for improvement?

2:00 PM: Smart composites: an essential lever for rising to future challenges Chaired by Mathieu SCHWANDER – "Smart Composites" Programme Line Manager, IPC Guillaume HUGUET – Innovation Engineer, MECAPLAST Emmanuel ARENE – CEO, PRIMO 1D New usages, new regulatory requirements, new sources of differentiation: intelligence is being incorporated into composites, thereby opening up a wide spectrum of application areas. Professionals from the sector will share with you their expertise and experiences. Imagine, at their prompting, high production rate structural parts, combining plastics and composites know-how and incorporating innovative electronic functions.

3:00 PM: The injection moulding process 4.0 marches toward the industry of the future Chaired by Bertrand FILLON – General manager for research, IPC Stephane CASTIN – Sales Manager, KISTLER FRANCE SASU Thierry MAROTIN – Group sales director, GEORGES PERNOUD Valentin CHARRETON – R&D engineer, GEORGES PERNOUD Pascal VIEL – CEO, SISE In the race to competitiveness, performance and total quality, solutions already exist in the injection moulding 4.0 processes. Thanks to the instrumentation of moulds, E-tooling, and production supervision systems, manufacturers are already building the industry of the future. Tools are being developed to make industry 4.0 accessible to SMEs, and to help them with their digital transition. Tracking, collecting, interpreting, transferring… in order to solve, correct and act: the objective of these innovations in instrumentation, real-time decision-making.

FR-EN bilingual (flag) Chaired by Gilles GAUTHIER – Network Manager, MATERIAUTECH David VALLERE – Development & Projects Director, FRANCE KURZ Stephen BLAIR – PCL Renaud COURBIERE – Project Manager, SPECIAL COATING Anne HIPPERT – Sales Director, Healthcare & Packaging, Corporate Strategic Accounts POLYONE Product differentiation often revolves around the quality of the finish and the notion of beauty conveyed by means of innovative technologies. Discover new technologies for multi-dimensional decoration; cutting-edge, high-quality coatings for bulk application; new, high-sheen polymers requiring neither paint nor varnish; and dazzling, luminous and functional, even extravagant, films with high wear resistance.

FRIDAY, 16 JUNE 2017

10:00 AM: REACH 2018: how to prepare for it and avoid supply shortages Chaired by Marc MADEC – Sustainable Development Director, FRENCH PLADDTICS AND COMPOSITE FEDERATION Amaury CORNILLEAU – Project Manager, GPA (Groupement Plasturgie Automobile) Philippe ROLLAND – IMDS & Substances Manager, RENAULT Frédéric VIOT – EcodesignSupervisor, PLASTIC OMNIUM

In the framework of the REACH regulations, on 31 May 2018, companies that import or market between 1 and 100 tonnes of any chemical substance must register it, otherwise it will be prohibited in Europe. The risk for the plastics manufacturers is therefore to find themselves faced with a lack of substances such as additives in polymers, which can be critical for the physical properties of the material. This risk can be anticipated: this is the issue addressed by this conference, which will detail the framework of REACH 2018 and present the initiative of the automotive industry.

11:30 AM: Plastic and composite materials: an asset for making lighter vehicles Chaired by a journalist from INDUSTRIE & TECHNOLOGIE Patricia Krawczak KRAWCZAK – Lecturer at the Institut Mines-Télécom, Director of the "Plastics & Composites" Department of IMT Lille Douai Jean-François LUYE – CEO of PROMOLD and member of the PLAST’EO GROUP Patrick CAZUC – Automotive Director Europe, Global Automotive Marketing Leader, DUPONT DE NEMOURS Plastic materials and polymer-based materials make the ideal contribution to weight reductions and reduction of the carbon footprint in the transport domain, automotive in particular. The challenge is to find the best cost-weight-performance ratio to satisfy the new environmental requirements while guaranteeing comfort and safety. Innovation in terms of materials, processes, design and products... these are all flagship topics that will be addressed.

2:00 PM: IPC, the new CTI serving manufacturers and the industry Chaired by Corinne LAPRAS – CEO, CORPOE Luc UYTTERHAEGHE –, CEO, IPC Bertrand FILLON – General manager for research, IPC Philippe PELLERIN – CEO, BERICAP Created one year ago, IPC, the CTI (Industrial Technical Centre) for Plastics and Composites, presents its new missions and in particular its collective actions programme.
